Men of Renown
Part xvi
Nimrod
Babel his Capital city and Shinar his land
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:4) And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Genesis 6:5)
This series called Men of Renown will begin with these verses in Chapter 6 of the book of Genesis because it is the perfect scene setter for whatever and whoever follows that enables men of renown to act in conflict against God and His Word. Genesis 6 verses 4 and 5 are an accurate definition of men of renown.
The phrase ‘men of renown’ occurs in the Bible only two times. The second and last mention can be found in the 4th book of the Pentateuch in the book of Numbers, Chapter 16. This last mention of ‘men of renown’ goes beyond the definition of men of renown and expands what ‘men of renown’ are not only capable of, but what lurks in the inner most recesses of their thoughts.
I suggest that if you have not been following this series on Men of Renown that it would greatly benefit you to go to the previous post in order to understand the next post. Therefore, the study of Nimrod MUST begin at the very first article about Nimrod: Jerk or Genius. CLICK HERE to go there.
Nimrod
Babel and the land of Shinar
And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. (Genesis 10:10)
Who named these cities? Of course, it had to be the person who built them. Nimrod the ‘Rebel’ named the very first city in his kingdom ‘The Gate of God,’ or ‘The Gate of the Gods,’ and ‘Confusion.’ Now that’s prophetic and ironic. We can’t stop here because the land of Shinar also means ‘Confusion.’ Let’s repeat this, ‘and the beginning of his kingdom was Confusion in the land of Confusion.’ (I have already written about Erech, Accad, and Calneh; therefore, I am centering on Babel and the land of Shinar because both Capital city (Babylon) and the nation of Babylon impacted every nation through the timeline of history and especially to the end of this world (as we know it). Here again is the Law of First Mention. How something is first mentioned and will be exactly how it ends.
The beginning of Nimrod’s kingdom is where we should focus. Although each city has an amazing history, these cities (what is left of them) still draw nations as magnets to fight against each other over every shifting sand dune. The poverty above the ground hides the economic wealth beneath the ground in oil and earth minerals, and its military strength is its strategic access to both eastern and western nations and ports. This is the territory that every contemporary nation has bled over in the last 50 years (I wrote fifty years knowing that it has really been for thousands of years, but I also wrote ‘contemporary nation’ because this land of confusion is in the news EVERY DAY). Man’s heart is erratic as water, ever changing and unstable, so why not build on a land that (through time) will typify what is within mankind.
When you hear of ‘Mosul’ in the news, think of Nineveh, and Iraq. How about these names: Ramadi, Fallujah, Tikrit, Basra, Baghdad? Do any of these cities sound a bit familiar? Think of Iraq, the Persian Empire (Iraq/Iran), the Muslim Conquest, Alexander the Great, Sargon the Great, Sennacherib, Cyrus, the Medes, Assyria, Nebuchadnezzar, Sumer, Hammurabi, Babylon, Babel, Shinar . . . . the land of Confusion! Rightly named. The land is definitely and properly called Confusion. Fluid boundaries continually changed through millenniums, names reinvented, peoples labeled by tribes and wadies, sandstone structures are blown away by the force of wind and meld and become one with the land. The names of conquering generals are as the land itself, shifting confusion. This land of confusion, on this side of the flood, is as old as sand, and is built on the very elements that is characteristic of sand itself. It can be as quicksand, and as durable as concrete, it is static and it is unstable, it is porous, and it is impenetrable. And the people who have inhabited this land are as sand itself. Yes, this is Confusion. And this is where Nimrod established his base . . . on shifting sand. Man’s heart is erratic as water, ever changing and unstable, so why not build on a land that (through time) will typify what is within mankind. The ambiguity of this land can be expressed in the characteristics of both sand and water: ever changing.
Side Note: The first city (after the flood) mentioned in Scripture is Babel, and it is mentioned twice. The spiritual significance of the number two (2) is that it can be a point of difference or a point of agreement. When it is agreement then it signifies witness (when two agree with each other it becomes witness), when it is difference then it signifies division, enmity, conflict, or opposition between the first and the second; for example, in Genesis 1:2, the first thing that we see about the earth is that it was in darkness. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Then in Genesis 1:3, the next thing or the second thing that we are told about the earth is that God said, Let there be light: and there was light. In Genesis 1:4, we read, And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. Thus, through these ‘two’ opposing elements of light and darkness we have division, conflict, and enmity presented. The number two (2) can mean agreement, or it can mean conflict and opposition when two separate elements do not agree.
In the first Chapter of the first book of the Bible, God the Holy Spirit plants many unseen concepts. One of these concepts is that the number two is connected to opposition. The word divided is recorded two times.
And God saw the light, that [it was] good: and God divided the light from the darkness. (Genesis 1:4)
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which [were] under the firmament from the waters which [were] above the firmament: and it was so. (Genesis 1:7)
Another point of interest (some may call it trivia) BUT nothing in the Bible, (seen or unseen) is trivial. When researching the words divided and two, you will discover that they are joined together in ten (10) verses in the Bible. God sets His seal that His order (even in the process of spiritual numbers) is perfect, that nothing can be added to it to make it more perfect. The number ten (10) is God’s perfect order. The decimal system is based on the number ten, and from there on all that follows is in the same unit structure; nothing can be removed or added to this structure to improve it. Therefore, the spiritual meaning of number ten is God’s perfect order.
Whenever the number two is brought into the narrative then it must either agree or disagree. Can two walk together, except they be agreed? (Amos 3:3) The Ten Commandments is all that man needs to understand God’s holiness and righteousness, and that man can never rise to the level of God’s standard; consequently, nothing can be added to the Ten Commandments that could improve or add to its standard. Also, in the number ten (10) we also see the Antichrist’s complete sovereignty over the world. This last world ruler, the man of sin, the Beast, will have total control; total means he has it all, he needs nothing more to complete his ownership of the world. And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. (Revelation 17:12) These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. (Revelation 17:13) Everything that evil does is according to God’s will and word. There is a reason why the word Babel is mentioned only twice in the entire Bible because from its very beginning it was in opposition against God.
And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. (Genesis 10:10). Do not miss another signpost about the number 10. The first mention of Babel and the first mention of a kingdom is recorded by the Holy Spirit in the address of the verse 10:10. There are two issues here laid out side by side, yet in complete opposition to each other. There is God’s side in the perfection of the number 10, and then we have the counterpoint constructed by Satan when ten horns and ten kings turn their authority over to the Antichrist. Satan’s end goal is seemingly accomplished through the ten horns and the ten kings because his illusive desire is not to be equal with God, but to set his throne ABOVE the throne of God.
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: (Isaiah 14:13) I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. (Isaiah 14:14)
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. (2nd Thessalonians 2:4)
Although we have point and counter point, good and evil, truth and lies, holiness and sacrilege, God’s will and word cannot be thwarted. (I like the word thwarted because it contains the idea of checkmate. Satan can plan, plot, and act in what may appear to be a successful ploy, but his counter point will never be successful against the Almighty God because the chess board, and the chess pieces all belong to God.)
For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD. (Ezekiel 12:25)
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)
All of this is in this verse, even the address location of 10:10. And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. (Genesis 10:10) CHECKMATE. End of Side Note.

The First Three Land Areas Recorded in Scripture
Before we go on to examine Babel and Shinar, there is also another point of interest, but I find it to be a base line of beginnings. Before the flood, God the Holy Spirit placed a name on three separate land areas: the land of Havilah, the whole land of Ethiopia, and the land of Nod. (Ethiopia is the only name that continued as a name into the new world after the flood. And because of the great universal flood that placement of this land may not have remained the same, but this is another study.)
The name of the first [is] Pison: that [is] it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where [there is] gold; (Genesis 2:11)
And the name of the second river [is] Gihon: the same [is] it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. (Genesis 2:13)
And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. (Genesis 4:16)
Why was it important for God the Holy Spirit to provide these names in His written revelation to man? Let’s follow the meaning of these names. Havilah has two main roots in its name: ‘circular‘ and ‘anguish.’ From these two roots we have ‘to twist as a spiral or in a circular manner,’ and ‘to writhe in pain as to bring forth or to form.’ (Wow . . . do you see what I see?) This FIRST mention, this FIRST land appears to describe the birth and creation of our planet through words of pain and movement. Earth is a spinning circular body in a spiral galaxy that was formed in agony and anguish.
The second land that was given a name was the land of Ethiopia before the flood. The name Ethiopia also has two main roots: ‘Cush,’ and ‘black.’ This leads us back to the beginning of the creation of the world. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (Genesis 1:2)
Then the third land that is named is the land of Nod. After Cain, the first person born on this planet, murdered his brother Abel, and Cain was vanquished into the land of Nod. Therefore, it is quite fitting that Nod means ‘to wander,’ ‘to mourn,’ ‘to be a vagabond,’ ‘exile,’ and ‘to flee.’ Before the flood, mankind in rebellion against God became a vagabond, a man without a home. Let’s put this together up to this point: we have the birth of our planet or our world, we have the condition that it was formed in, and we have the result of spiritual darkness. Hmmm . . . even the names of the land (before the flood) teach us about the battleground conditions of Earth.

The Land of Shinar
And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. (Genesis 10:10)
This is just an introduction to the land of Shinar. After the flood, rebellion was still in the hearts of men, and they were without a home and without a land. Is it not fitting that the first name that was given to the first named city (Babel – Confusion) by the first rebel king (Nimrod) would be called the land of Shinar . . . the land of Confusion? This was also the first time that the word kingdom is mentioned in Scripture. Nimrod’s kingdom began in the region of Iraq, however, always keep in mind that no one can absolutely define the boundaries of a time period where boundaries did not exist. (I refuse to be distracted by the fascinating history of Iraq, the land of the “Cradle of Civilization” as it has been famously termed and has also been erroneously termed as ‘the earliest known civilization,’ the ‘Sumerian civilization.’ It was not the earliest known civilization and I take umbrage to the words ‘earliest known,’ but moving on . . . . )
For those who may still be reading this, and for those who are intrigued by prophecy, Babel (Confusion), Babylon, (Confusion) and Shinar (Confusion) are not three separate points, but they are one point, and it is not only because each name has a root meaning of confusion, but because Satan has set his seditious battle plan on the success of Babylon. The centerpiece that would seduce souls was and is Babylon. This core was much more than a physical location because it was also rooted in the spiritual realm of evil. Although Babel, Babylon, and Shinar all have the same meaning, within each name there is a root of a specific form of confusion. There is the confusion of languages (Babel), there is the confusion of the mixing and intermingling of peoples (Shinar), and there is mental and spiritual confusion (Babylon). Each name typifies a distinctive area of confusion: verbal/communication, physical, emotional and spiritual, but at the End, Babylon the Great is identified as the habitation of devils, and owned by every foul spirit, and a place of the enslavement of hate and sin (and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird).
And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. (Revelation 14:8)
And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. (Revelation 14:9)
The first attempt (that we know of in the new world) by Satan was to set up a successful Babylon (under Nimrod) and this ended in failure. His second attempt to set up a successful Babylon (under Nebuchadnezzar) ended in failure. Since then, Satan has tried numerous times to build a successful Babylon, and with each attempt it ended in collapse and failure. But there is going to be a very successful Babylon, and this too will also end in total failure. (Each re-emergence involved thousands of years because time is man’s realm, but time is limited, and because we are in the last minutes of earth time Satan has been on an accelerated course to achieve his goal of demonic world dominion.)
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. (Revelation 12:11)
Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. (Revelation 12:12)
The current global policies are more massive attempts to ‘Build Back Better’ Babylon. We slept through the preparation phase of Building Babylon Back Better by the enemy: the men of renown (the kings of money, merchandising and religion). And now we are in the next structural phase of Building Babylon Back Better by using fear to control minds through “Mass Formation Psychosis.” (Note: the current self-proclaimed pretend president of the United States is using this mantra, ‘Build Back Better.’) We will be getting into prophecy later, but first, we must lay the groundwork, at least I hope it will be laying ground, and not laying a mine field. It is almost impossible to understand the prophecy of the ‘end of time’ without understanding ‘the beginning of time.’ How things begin determines how it will end.
National geographical boundary lines change depending on who controls the lines. At the time of Nimrod his territory or land had not been yet labeled as Mesopotamia, or the Fertile Crescent, or the Cradle of Civilization, or Sumer, nor Iraq. Tracking the meaning of the word Shinar reveals total confusion: some sources say it is the southern region of Mesopotamia, some say it is the northern region, some say that the word Shinar is Hebrew, others say it is ‘a relic from the extinct language of Sumer,’ (this statement alone should alert you to a bit of confusion). The more that I researched the more I understood that Shinar really does mean ‘confusion.’ Bear with me here. As I have previously written, the name Babel has two root meanings: ‘The Gate of God,‘ or ‘Gods‘ and ‘Confusion.’ Perfect, absolute perfection, and now tell me that God doesn’t have a sense of humor. What does the Holy Spirit of God reveal to us about both the city of Babel AND the land of Shinar . . . . confusion . . . .confusion . . . . and more confusion? What saith the Scriptures about Babel and the land of Shinar?
• The name of Shinar is mentioned seven (7) times:
the fullness of confusion.
• The name of Babel is mentioned two (2) times:
the witness of confusion.
• The name Babylon is mentioned in the Old Testament
two hundred and eighty-one times (281):
the massive uncontrollable growth of confusion.
(If you care to check this out, go right ahead!) This number of two hundred and eighty-one reveals the growth of evil confusion since its beginning in Babel in Genesis 10:10. There is much more to be written about thus number, however, when we deal with prophecy and the End Times in the book of Revelation we may at that time (if God leads to that point) write more about this number of 281. But for now, this three-digit number (281) shows the massive development of confusion as Babylon in Babel was first mentioned in Scripture.
• The name Babylon is mentioned
six times in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ andÂ
six times in the three other books in the New Testament
 for a total of twelve (12) times:Â
the witness of man’s ultimate confusionÂ
fulfilling God’s governmental perfect order.
In the last book of the Bible, the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, Babylon is at its culmination in complete power over the earth. Man (in Adam) has finally accomplished his elusive goal, to be as gods. Satan has finally accomplished his goal, AND THEN IT IS FOREVER DESTROYED. Therefore, the fact that in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, Babylon is mentioned six times . . . the number of man is more then fitting. Man in his complete control over every movement, over every action, and over every thought of every person is mankind’s perceived highest accomplishment because he has finally brought mankind (under the rule of one man) to man’s lowest point of existence: robotic willing slaves. We will again take up these points when we delve into prophecy.
Side Note: Timeline of language development. In Chapter 10 of Genesis, we are informed of the tribal groups that developed from all three sons of Noah: Japheth, Ham and Shem. From this verse in Genesis 10:5 we see that whenever the phrase ‘the isles’ is mentioned it refers to the Gentiles. By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations. The Bible is about eastern peoples, eastern cultures, eastern societies, and eastern thought. Although Gentiles exist in these eastern peoples, cultures, and societies, Gentiles of the western world for the most part do not have the same thought processes as the eastern mind, and the western mind cannot adjust to the differences between the two, nor does the western mind-set acknowledge the validity of the eastern mind. Japheth (the western mind) tries to force Shem and Ham (the eastern mind) to change and to adopt to his way of thinking and to his ways of living. One claims to have an open mind by saying that the other has a closed mind, but both have closed minds. Japheth was the progenitor of all Gentile nations, languages, and lands.
The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. (Genesis 10:2) And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah. (Genesis 10:3) And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. (Genesis 10:4) By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations. (Genesis 10:5)
As the sons of Japheth divided into lands, tongues, and families and later into nations, so also, the sons of Shem and Ham divided into families, tongues, lands and nations. These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations. (Genesis 10:20) These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations. (Genesis 10:31) Many times the Holy Spirit of God presents a conclusion first, then in the next Chapter He presents what occurred before the conclusion. Teaching the present first then presenting the past last is the ‘flash back’ technique. Genesis Chapter 10 and Chapter 11 of Genesis is the perfect example of this form of instruction. In Genesis 11:1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. Genesis 10 reveals that the whole earth was divided by language, lands, families and nations. This is the point: when studying the word of God, it is important to set the scene in the proper time frame. ♦ End of Side Note: Timeline of language development.

—— Babel——
Since Babel means ‘The Gate of God,’ or, ‘The Gate of the Gods,’ and ‘Confusion,’ how do these seemingly two different meanings unite as one in a city of one language? What did these people of one speech use as their foundation? What was their primary goal in building a city? How did God express His power (not only to them, but also to us?) Read verses 1 thru 9 in Genesis Chapter 11, after verse 9, and beginning with verse 10, we are informed of the genealogy of Shem to Abraham. Again, the number nine (9) marks the end, the conclusion, and most often it is also connected with judgment. Therefore, it is perfect for its placement in the only description that God the Holy Spirit gives us related to the city of Babel.
Side Note: Number Eleven (11). Genesis 11:1-9 is the only section in the entire Bible that describes what occurred at Babel. The number eleven symbolizes imperfection, confusion, disorganized, incoherent, baffling, and simply being a mess. It also relates to that which is not yet complete or fulfilled as in the eleven apostles after Judas and before Acts 1:26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles. The Holy Spirit uses baby math in building principles around numerical sequences: for instance; eleven (11) sits between the number ten (10 – the perfection of Divine order) and the number twelve (12 – the perfection of Divine government). Therefore, since eleven (11) attempts to add one digit to ten (10), this shows rebelling against God’s perfect order, (10+1). Eleven is also one digit removed from the number twelve (12), therefore, attempting to overthrow God’s Divine government, (12-1). Wherever the number eleven is seen in Scripture, you will see the difference between the perfection of Divine order, or the difference from God’s Divine government. There is much more regarding number eleven. It will come up again later in this series of Nimrod. Babel, Shinar and Babylon. In Genesis 11:1-9 Nimrod’s Capital city of Babel established mankind’s first attempt to create their own order and world government. We have the unseen of this through the numbers of 11 and 9.
It is intriguing that Chapter 11, verses 1 – 9 break into another division. We have verses 1-4 that deals with the people of Babel in their rebellion and subversiveness against God’s order and God’s government. Then verses 5 – 9 shows us God’s view, His thoughts, and actions against Babel. Yes, God’s unseen voice in numbers in Chapter 11, discloses that the evil men of the earth (4) cannot escape God’s judgment (9); it was through His grace (5) that He scattered them abroad and they were not totally destroyed and consumed. ♦ End of Side Note: Number Eleven

Genesis
Chapter 11:1-9
1. And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. (Genesis 11:1)
2. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.(Genesis 11:2)
3. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. (Genesis 11:3)
4. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. (Genesis 11:4) Â
5. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. (Genesis 11:5)
6. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. (Genesis 11:6)
7. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. (Genesis 11:7)
8. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. (Genesis 11:8)
9. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. (Genesis 11:9)
♦
And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. (Genesis 11:1)
Before the flood, mankind was united against God, except for one man, Noah. We know nothing of government, geological structures and land formations before the flood, but this one thing we do know: And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Genesis 6:5) It was their evil imaginations that united mankind together. (I suggest you follow these links to learn more of the antediluvian society because the word of God reveals a society of arts and music, agriculture and fabrication.) Babel was the first unification of mankind centered around oneness, patriotic oneness, political oneness, economic oneness, and religious oneness. Godless oneness.
After the flood, man were drawn to organize communities, and from this, government developed. This was Nimrod’s strength in building a dynasty: protection, safety, and a central governing body in a political and religious forum. Language and speech are two distinct issues, speech is the expression of language, God the Holy Spirit desires that we should see that they were unified as one people, in one language, with one thought, and one goal. Babel was the first unification of mankind centered around oneness, patriotic oneness, political oneness, economic oneness, and religious oneness. Godless oneness. Remember this because this will also be what The End Time Babel will be man’s last unification against God’s order and against God’s Divine government.
♦
And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. (Genesis 11:2)
And in time, as they journeyed from the east (from the rising of the sun, their backs to the sun) to the west, they discovered a plain. Not any plain, but a special plain, also called the plain of Dura. (Daniel 3:1) With their backs to the sun, they settled and dwelt in a rich fertile plain in the land of Shinar.Â
♦
And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. (Genesis 11:3)
The builders of Babel did not have building codes, nor were they concerned with structural integrity. Examine the materials that they used. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. Rejecting the natural strength of stone, and the binding qualities of mortar they used slime. What is the spiritual significance? Why did the Holy Spirit of God want us to know what was used to build Babel? Connect the Babel of thousands and years past with Babel through the ages, and Babel of our age, and Babel in the End Time, in sinful willing blindness within the hearts and minds of all men of Babel THROUGHOUT ALL the AGES they prefer to build their lives and lies on what is NOT NATURAL, choosing the superficial instead, building on shifting sand and not on The Rock.
Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: (Luke 6:47) He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. (Luke 6:48) But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. (Luke 6:49)
And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. (1st Corinthians 10:4)
[He is] the Rock, his work [is] perfect: for all his ways [are] judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right [is] he. (Deuteronomy 32:4)
The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men [must be] just, ruling in the fear of God. (2nd Samuel 23:3)
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner [stone], a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. (Isaiah 28:16)
Instead of seeking that which forever binds together and is anchored in the Person of Christ, the people of Babel built their world on the fickleness and on the unstableness of man without God. The elements that they used reveal much more than just physical building materials, it exposed their spiritual condition as it relates to what is in natural sinful man.
And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. (John 17:11)
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: (John 17:22)
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (John 10:28) My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. (John 10:29) I and my Father are one. (John 10:28)
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. (1st Peter 2:5) Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. (1st Peter 2:6)
The mind of the natural man and the religious man never bases their actions on spiritual reality, but they desire to build their world on imitation and fantasy. Natural man refuses to acknowledge sin, and the religious man refuses to understand sin. Natural man imitates righteousness and godliness with his own self-righteousness and with his own form of goodness. Religious man substitutes and replaces what is solidly true and forever binding with his manmade decrees and doctrines, namely slime. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. (2nd Corinthians 11:4)
Even in the building materials that those first builders of the original Babel used is spiritually applicable to all that mankind builds in his rebellious confusion against his God and Creator. The principle of building on a strong foundation with correct and proper binding elements applies not only to the natural realm but also to the spiritual realm.

And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. (Genesis 11:4)
The unification and oneness of the citizens of Babel are quite evident. However, there are some elements that are not as evident as their unification. The Holy Spirit again teaches us through numbers: the obvious and the not so obvious. Notice the word us is recorded four (4) times in this verse: let us build us / let us make us. Four is the earth number, man in weakness, frailty and decay. This number relates to all of creation under the Law of Sin and Death. Then we have the not so obvious: the verse address of Genesis 11:4. This verse tells us all that we need to know about the spiritual condition of ALL of mankind. In fact, this fourth verse ENDS ALL that the Holy Spirit of God tells us about the people of Babel. Very fitting indeed.
Never assume that the ancients were neither very intelligent, nor capable because they were extremely intelligent, creative and capable. The phrase whose top may reach unto heaven does not imply that they actually believed that they could physically build into the clouds and into the realm of the stars. (Erroneously thinking that since we are people of amazing intellect and supernal powers of reasoning then those who lived before us had to lack our great intellectual skills. WRONG. This is one of the false conclusions that many have reached when attempting to explain how the pyramids were constructed by the Egyptians. It could not possibly be that they were intelligent, creative and capable. It had to be aliens who built the pyramids, or at least helped the Egyptians. WRONG AGAIN. There were no aliens. There have never been any space traveling aliens.) Nimrod had three goals: to build a city for himself, to build a worship center around himself, and to build a world united around serving his every whim and desire.
So, we go back further into time from the Egyptian pyramids to the city of Babel, and examine what was the goal of building a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven? (They were not foolish, those who presume that their aim was to physically reach into the heavens are the ones who are being foolish!) Nimrod had three goals: to build a city for himself, to build a worship center around himself, and to build a world united around serving his every whim and desire. When dealing with Nimrod and ancient Babel and Babylon ALWAYS look to the end result of Babylon at The End Time.

let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name,Â
This city and a tower were to be the show place and jewel in the crown of Nimrod. This hunter of the souls of men had a soiled subversive soul beyond restoring; therefore, he had to build bigger and better than anything that had ever been constructed previously using enslaved souls to achieve his quest for glory. This city and tower would become the archetype of Babylon the Great at The End Time. Scripture discloses two types of cities: the physical city of mankind, and the spiritual city of God, the holy city, new Jerusalem.
But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, (Hebrews 12:22)
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (Revelation 21:2)
And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, (Revelation 21:10)
The first city that is recorded in Scripture was built by Cain, the first murderer, the rebel seditionist, the evil seed, and the root of the line of giants. Why is it important for us to understand who built the first city? What evil builds on can only become evil. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? (James 3:11)
Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. (James 3:12)
And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. (Genesis 4:17) )Â
What could possibly come from an evil builder but an evil building. In Psalm 55:9, the psalmist (through the Holy Spirit of God) describes the city of Babel through the phrase Destroy, O Lord, [and] divide their tongues. The first Babel was a habitation that exemplified Nimrod’s hunter characteristics. (We, in the United States, know full well that when the primary governing seditionist is without honor and is depraved and arrogant then those who benefit are also without honor and are depraved and arrogant.) Destroy, O Lord, [and] divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city. Babel, the city of confusion, knew no peace because violence and strife built that city because the builder was Nimrod, a violent warlike individual who hunted the souls of men. Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. (Psalm 55:11) (What an accurate description of our own contemporary city of Babel today known as Washington, D.C.)
A city consumed by deceit, guile, violence, strife and division falsely claimed that their goal was to be as one people: united together by confusion, but blind to their own confusion — lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. (Reading Genesis 11:1-9 is better then reading a daily newspaper or watching liars on television twisting and turning minute by minute as they jump from one contrived crisis to the next contrived crises. There is a verse in Scripture that sums up the obvious madness of the controllers of fiction news, but that verse has to be placed in the correct context. Read Isaiah 44:25 as it describes not only liars of the past, but it also reveals the liars of today as they grapple for viewers not realizing how foolish they appear.)
Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself; (Isaiah 44:24) That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish; (Isaiah 44:25)

let us make us a name
Most everyone wants to be somebody, anybody, whatever it takes to be above someone else . . . even if its wallowing in the slime pits of the so-called entertainment field, or dismembering parts of their bodies to achieve attention. The need for attention has driven many into the state of insanity. I am sick of witnessing the obsessiveness of the ‘Selfie.’ The concept of being content with whom they are, and where they are is abhorrent to these emotionally deformed ageless children. [Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (Hebrews 13:5)
But godliness with contentment is great gain. (1st Timothy 6:6) And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. (1st Timothy 6:8) 13:5)
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. (Philippians 4:11) I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. (Philippians 4:12)
Babel set its base on more than a physical location. It was rooted and founded on Lucifer’s self-deception to be like the most High.
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! (Isaiah 14:12) For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: (Isaiah 14:13) I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. (Isaiah 14:14) Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. (Isaiah 14:15)
Let us make us a name was the goal of all of the inhabitants of Babel. And they achieved that goal. Here we are thousands of years later writing about Babel.
♦
a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven
The glue that holds and melds societies, families, and nations together has to have a center point, and a tower was Babel’s glue. Think of all the ancient monuments that have been partially archaeologically restored, such as Incas, Mayans, Egyptians, and Asian architectures all had a common structural design: a soaring rising peak that can be seen above its environment. Attached to every single one of these past structures was a common center point, namely, worship, ergo, religion.
Nimrod had a religion, consequently, the people of Babel had a religion. All pagans are religionists. Think carefully about what I have just written because it is contrary to the definition of paganism. Lucifer is religious, so it is no great concept that mankind (regardless of whom or what they worship) is also religious. Being religious means absolutely nothing to God, being religious cannot free anyone from the Law of Sin and Death. Religion is just another chain enslaving a person. Religion is just another blindfold hiding the truth of God from searching eyes. Religion is just another crooked road leading wayfarers away from the pathway to God. Religion is an enemy of Christianity. Religion is an enemy of God. What was Nimrod’s religion? Self was his religion.
Nimrod’s name is mentioned four (4) times in Scripture, and since the number four (4) represents the world, and is the earth number, he exemplifies and embodies the people of the world in their sin and unhindered lust to be as gods.
1. And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. (Genesis 10:8)
2. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. (Genesis 10:8)
3. And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be mighty upon the earth. (1st Chronicles 1:10)
4. And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver [us] from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders. (Micah 5:6)
There is also another interesting coincidence . . . . remember that there is no such thing as coincidence in Scripture. The first FOUR (4) times that the word mighty is recorded in Scripture is extremely striking because it ties Nimrod’s character to those the mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown. These men were not men favored by God.Â
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became]Â mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:4)
And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. (Genesis 10:8)
He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. (Genesis 10:9)
Nimrod cannot escape from this label of the earth number. Nimrod (the rebel) is the son of the first rebel on earth, Adam. The first man [is] of the earth, earthy: the second man [is] the Lord from heaven. (1st Corinthians 15:47) Let’s follow the Law of First Mention in the word mighty. We have examined the first four times that this word is recorded in Scripture, but what about the last mention of mighty in the Old Testament and the last mention in the New Testament?
Howl, fir tree; for the cedar is fallen; because the mighty are spoiled: howl, O ye oaks of Bashan; for the forest of the vintage is come down. (Zechariah 11:2)
And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;Â (Revelation 19:17) That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. (Revelation 19:18)
The mighty men of renown, the mighty men of pride and arrogance, all came to an end of their own making: they were found wanting, and as rotten fruit on the vine the birds of evil swooped down and consumed their decayed flesh. The Holy Spirit has quite a way with words. His message is clear!
Again, we have the proof that the Bible could not have been written by man, God the Holy Spirit wrote His word, breathed His word as ready writers moved their pens. Did they realize that every word that their pens scribed would be numbered and tallied to reveal an unseen message? Of course not, they didn’t need to know, but they ALL knew that the words that they spoke and the words that they wrote were the words from the very mouth of God.

a tower
The city of Babel (confusion) was the center of worship in the land of Shinar. How do I know this? Let us look at the words from God the Holy Spirit, as He connects the tower to worship. A tower is often a free-standing structure separated from other structures, higher, taller, and above all other edifices. Through Chapter 17 of 2nd Kings, verses 9 – 12, we have the mind of God concerning what sinful man regarded as places where God would accept their worship. Satan is in the tower building business.
And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. (2nd King 17:9) And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree: (2nd King 17:10) And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger: (2nd King 17:11) For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing. (2nd King 17:12)
Man changes not, he is still religious, still insisting that he alone determines how he should worship God. Do you believe that a righteous and holy God would accept any and all forms of liturgical activities referred to as worship? There are two forms of worship: that which is accepted and that which is rejected.
Side Note: The Form of Worship. I have often seen large billboard signs with the words, ‘Go to the church of your choice.‘ How open minded this phrase is, however, it is wrong. First, it is wrong because it does not inform you that the ‘church’ is not a physical location, but a spiritual tower. Secondly, it is wrong because how you worship and who you worship is not a choice. Cain thought that how he worshiped was his choice alone, and he was dead wrong. In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes. (Judges 21:25)
In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes. (Judges 17:6)
Without the Lord of lords and King of kings directing and in control over your life then you are not spiritually capable of knowing what is right in the eyes of God.
And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: (Genesis 4:4) But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. (Genesis 4:5)
Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous. (1st John 3:12)
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. (Hebrews 11:4)
In Chapter 4 of the gospel of John, verses 19 – 24, we have the way of worship that reveals the constant in worship throughout ALL ages.
The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. (John 4:19)
Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.(John 4:20)
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. (John 4:21)
Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. (John 4:22)
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. (John 4:23)
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24)
In spirit and in truth is what God accepts as worship. Without the TRUE knowledge of God, worship is in vain, and without the Spirit of God within, worship is not accepted by God; therefore, there is only ONE point of worship that God approves of, and that is Christ Jesus.
Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. (John 13:13)
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; (Philippians 2:10) And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:11) ♦ End of Side Note: A Form Worship.
Besides their tower being a place of worship without God, a religion centered around many gods, their tower typified all of mankind worshiping the gods of their own hands, and of their evil imaginations . . . . Ye worship ye know not what. Do not forget that Babel also means ‘The Gate of God,’ or ‘The Gate of the Gods.’ This is how religion seduces souls seeking God by first claiming to be the gate to God, then very slowly other elements are added to their claim until these seduced souls are bowing to many false deities, bowing to statues, bowing to priests, bowing to those wearing a garment to deceive; purposefully these ensnared souls are directed away from the truth and spirit of God to . . . . another Jesus . . . . another spirit . . . . another gospel . . . . until confusion overcomes and enslaves their lost souls. This is the end goal of all religions.
Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made: (Isaiah 2:8)
In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made [each one] for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats; (Isaiah 2:20)
They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, [and] hire a goldsmith; and he maketh it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship. (Isaiah 46:6)
This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing. (Jeremiah 13:10)
And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship [and] that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham; (Zephaniah 1:5)
For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. (Acts 17:23)
Adding to the confusion of religion, we also have religion adding more confusion to their own towers by calling it Christianity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. (2nd Timothy 2:20) Under the banner of Christianity there are many cults and sub-cults, and sects, and sub-sects (wood and of the earth to dishonor) until the way to God is as Babel.
And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship [and] that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham; (Zephaniah 1:5) The evidence of Zephaniah Chapter 1, verse 5, is very obvious today, as religionists worship the creation instead of the Creator, and at the same time worship and swear by the Lord, and also at the same time follow and worship wherever their hearts lead, and have the audacity to say that they are children of God.
Side Note: The Children of God. Sorry if I am about to prick your happy feelings balloon . . . . BUT, We Are NOT All God’s children. This is not opinion. I know, I know, it feels good to say that ‘we are all God’s children,’ but error is still error. WE ARE ALL CREATED BY GOD, and there is a big difference between being His creation and being His child. The Holy Spirit is adamant about whom God considers His children. If ALL are children of God, then why did Christ die? If ALL are children of God, when did ALL become children of God? To erroneously state that ‘we are all God’s children’ is to go against God’s word because the Holy Spirit of God repeatedly states the principle of two seeds; good and evil; two children: children of God, and children of the devil; tares and wheat; sheep and goats.
That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. (Romans 9:8)
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. (1st John 3:10)
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 7:21) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (Matthew 7:22) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:23)
And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth [his] sheep from the goats:Â (Matthew 25:32) And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. (Matthew 25:33)
The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked [one];Â (Matthew 13:38)
And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:29) ♦ End of Side Note: The Children of God.
As Babel built a tower as a worship venue, religionists today also love their building tower programs: a church on every corner, as a ‘chicken in every pot.’ (You have to be my age or a history buff to get that!) A church for every wallet. A church for every age group. A church for every type of sound system. A church for every musical genre. A church for every political persuasion. A church for the blue hymnal advocates, and a church for the red hymnal advocates. A church for every favored doctrine. Yes, ‘Go to the church of your choice,’ if you don’t believe in God, I am sure that there must be a church just for you because there are so many different churches there has to be one just waiting for YOU and for what YOU believe in . . . . because your opinion about God is greater than the word of God, so that alone tells me that there is a church group JUST for YOU. (Snarky? Yup!)
Babel was the first city and the first people to prepare a special place to worship in the new world after the flood. Not a good sign. Worship is associated with a place, but it should be associated with a Person. The word worship is not mentioned with Babel for a particular reason. The Holy Spirit of God sets the word worship within a very tight range. (This may be a good time to take a snack break, just a warning of what is to follow. This reminds me of a certain preacher that whenever he said, ‘And in closing,’ . . . . you just knew that this was only just the beginning.)
Side Note: The first mention of the word worship connected to the first and last mention of Moriah. The first mention of worship is recorded in the book of Genesis Chapter 22. The number of double witness and a witness of agreement between two. And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you. (Genesis 22:5) God has a special altar where He would draw man to worship, a specific and unique place predetermined before the foundation of the world. The Holy Spirit of God gave us our first clue in the prophecy of Genesis 3:15, And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Laying the first bread crumb before us to lead us crumb by crumb to the next crumb is God’s method of teaching. Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. (Isaiah 28:9) For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: (Isaiah 28:10)
• And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. (Genesis 22:1)
• And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. (Genesis 22:2)
• And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. (Genesis 22:3)
• Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. (Genesis 22:4)
• And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you. (Genesis 22:5)
• And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together. (Genesis 22:6)
• And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? (Genesis 22:7)
• And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. (Genesis 22:8)
• And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. (Genesis 22:9)
• And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. (Genesis 22:10)
• And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. (Genesis 22:11)
• And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. (Genesis 22:12)
• And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. (Genesis 22:13)
• And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen. (Genesis 22:14)
I think that you would have to agree that this was a special and unique venue for God — into the land of Moriah . . . . upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of . . . unto the place of which God had told him . . . saw the place afar off . . . worship . . . God will provide himself . . . to the place which God had told him of . . . the name of that place Jehovahjireh . . . In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen. Moriah is mentioned only twice in Scripture, the first mention is in 22:2 of Genesis in the phrase the land of Moriah,, and the last mention is in 2nd Chronicles 3:1, in the phrase in mount Moriah. Notice that we have a bit more information from ‘the land’ to ‘in the mount.’ Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where [the LORD] appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. It’s not because God the Holy Spirit doesn’t have ALL the facts about Moriah, but He knows His audience of readers can’t absorb it all at one reading: thus the line upon line, and bread crumb after bread crumb. Moriah means ‘my teacher is Jah,’ and ‘seen of Jah,’ and there is also a third root meaning, ‘Chosen of Jehovah.’ Jehovahjireh means ‘Jehovah will provide,’ ‘Jehovah will see; behold,’ and is only mentioned once in all of Scripture because all that transpired in the land of Moriah, in the mount of Moriah, at Jerusalem in mount Moriah when God provided Himself a sacrifice in the Person of Jesus Christ is confirmed by the following . . . for this he did once, when he offered up himself (Hebrews 7:27) . . . but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself (Hebrews 9:26) . . . Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us]. (Hebrews 9:12).
The last mention of Moriah in 2nd Chronicles: 3:1 is truly God teaching us something vastly beyond merely the meaning of the name of Moriah. We are given another clue in the address of 2nd (2nd mention), Chronicles (documentation), 3 (the Divine nature of God), 1 (the Godhead). Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where [the LORD] appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. When God’s place of worship was rejected by Israel and became a place of merchandise and betrayal, then the True Temple of God was taken outside of Jerusalem and there on the cross of Calvary was crucified . . . outside the camp.
And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, [that] every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which [was] without the camp. (Exodus 33:7)
Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. (Hebrews 13:13)
But the flesh of the bullock, and his skin, and his dung, shalt thou burn with fire without the camp: it [is] a sin offering. (Exodus 29:14)
And he shall carry forth the bullock without the camp, and burn him as he burned the first bullock: it [is] a sin offering for the congregation.(Leviticus 4:21)
And the bullock [for]Â the sin offering, and the goat [for] the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy [place], shall [one] carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung. (Leviticus 16:27)
And a man [that is] clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay [them] up without the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water of separation: it [is] a purification for sin. (Numbers 19:9)
What has all this to do with Moriah, and worship? Breathe . . . breathe . . . you’ll be OK. Just stay with me. Just in case, you can’t remember why we are here. We are following the first mention of worship in relationship to Moriah, Abraham and Isaac. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. (Genesis 22:2)
Mini – Side Note: Moriah a mountain range. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. (Genesis 22:2) Consider this: the city of Jerusalem was situated on one mountain (the place of worship), and Golgotha (Calvary) was situated on another mountain (the place of suffering and sacrifice), then think of the Mount of Olives as a mountain of grace. This is a great study project. ♦ End of Mini-Side Note: Moriah a mountain range.
We are presented with more facts about Moriah . . . ‘my teacher is Jah,’ ‘seen of Jah,‘ and ‘Chosen of Jehovah,’ not only takes us to Jerusalem, but we are now presented with the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. Our Teacher (God the Holy Spirit) allows us to see two realms: the natural and the supernatural. The LORD is mentioned two times, and David is mentioned two times . . . there is going to be an important scene of witness in 2nd Chronicles 3:1. In this mount of Moriah was a particular parcel of ground used as a threshingfloor.
Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where [the LORD] appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
A threshingfloor was a place where wheat (barley) was bashed, beaten, and whipped to separate the chaff from the grain. The methods used was not only by hand but trampling by foot and sometimes by the hoofs of the animals of burden. It was a difficult and time-consuming work. Although threshingfloor symbolizes judgment there is the primary element of judgment in that God judges sin, and Christ (being our Sin Bearer) endured our judgment in His body.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.(Isaiah 53:4) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. (Isaiah 53:10)
Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. (Isaiah 53:12)
Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted [me] with all thy waves. Selah. (Psalm 88:7)
<<To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David.>> My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? [why art thou so] far from helping me, [and from] the words of my roaring? (Psalm 22:1)
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (Matthew 27:46)
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. (1st Peter 2:24)
For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2nd Corinthians 5:21)
The thread of the judgment and suffering is tied to the word threshingfloor in the first mention of threshingfloor documented in Genesis Chapter 50, verse 10. You would benefit by reading verses 1- 9, here is verse 10, And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which [is] beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days. This was the scene where Joseph and his brothers, leaders of Egypt, and scores of Gentiles and Jews traveled from Egypt to the threshingfloor of Atad to bury Jacob.
Jacob was the son of Isaac, yes, THAT Isaac, the one who was to be the sacrifice on one of the mountains of Moriah. (Genesis 22) Isaac was the first of the line of Abraham to set foot on the threshingfloor on Moriah before it was a threshingfloor; then Jacob (three generations later after Isaac) was buried there at this scene recorded in Genesis 50:10. How strange that God the Holy Spirit draws a father and son together at the threshingfloor in Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 50:10 symbolically disclosing how God the Father and His beloved Son, Jesus Christ went to Moriah together in the determinate counsels of God. They were One in purpose, One in suffering, and One in blood. Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. (Acts 20:28) But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: (1st Peter 1:19) The first on Moriah (Abraham and Isaac), and the last on Moriah in the Old Testament in the temporal world was Joseph and Jacob. But, who was the last to set foot on the threshingfloor on Moriah? Follow the crumbs.
The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. (Matthew 1:1) Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas (Judah) and his brethren; (Matthew 1:2)
And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. (Matthew 1:6) So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations. (Matthew 1:7)
It was Christ who was the last to set foot on the threshingfloor of Moriah. Coincidence is not within the written framework of the Holy Spirit of God, He doesn’t accidently name names, nor just drop names into paragraphs for curiosity seekers, or for laughs. Every name in the word of God is exactly placed where it is purposed. Therefore, the last time that we have Jacob and Joseph together in the Old Testament is in Genesis Chapter 50, verse 10 was at the burial scene of Jacob’s body placed in a tomb.
Then the first time that these two names are recorded together is in the first book of the New Testament, is in the gospel of Matthew, Chapter 1, verse 6. And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. From a burial scene (Genesis 50:10) to the introduction of a scene of the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, and finalized at the threshingfloor of Moriah, at Calvary, and where Christ was placed in a tomb. And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which [is] beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days. (Genesis 50:10) The name of Atad means ‘to pierce,’ ‘bramble,’ and ‘thorn.’ Christ was pierced (John 19:34, 37). He bore the crown of thorns. (John 19:2, 5) He was threshed, beaten and wounded. (John 19:1; Matthew 27:30).
All this took place on the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. The meaning of Ornan is ‘light was perpetuated,’ with another root meaning: ‘strength as an ash tree,‘ ‘strong.’ An ash tree is tough, strong, and also light. Can’t stop now! The name of Ornan is derived from the name of Araunah, ‘I shall shout for joy,’ ‘a strong one,’ ‘a hero.‘
The last mention of Moriah flows through Scripture like the river Jordan as it descends from the mountains tops slowly watering the lush valley’s carved into the heart of Israel, and then quickly crashes into the sea of death. Wait for the conclusion of this Side Note because it is still a long way off. Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where [the LORD] appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. (2nd Chronicles 3:1)
We have already written why this special place that David prepared was a threshingfloor, but WHY was David commanded by God to acquire this particular piece of property? It was to be a unique place set apart by God for God’s prepared sacrifice. We have two sections of Scripture that describes the back story to this land purchase. The actual event is documented in 2nd Samuel 24:18, and the second is from a future age recording a past action in 1st Chronicles Chapter 21 — this time difference also adds more to our understanding of what caused David to purchase this threshingfloor, and why God wanted to draw attention not only to how this piece of land was used and noted for, but also to how He valued the purchase price. (With all these balls in the air: worship, Moriah, sacrifice, altar, threshingfloor, judgment, men and the meaning of their names, it may become difficult for many readers to remain focused on where they began at Babel, and where they are at this point in this article . . . . nevertheless, the balls will not fall to the ground and bounce.) It is necessary to read the following Scriptures as two variations of the same event seen from God’s side and man’s side. (Compare both Scriptures and look for any differences between them to discover what God the Holy Spirit adds and why.) (David had sinned against God and numbered the people, the result was that someone had to pay for this rebellion, would it be David, or the people? After seventy thousand people perished, David pleaded with God to lay His judgment onto his own person . . . . it is at this point verse 18 continues.)
And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite. (2nd Samuel 24:18)
And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as the LORD commanded. (2nd Samuel 24:19)
And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground. (2nd Samuel 24:20)
And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people. (2nd Samuel 24:21)
And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood. (2nd Samuel 24:22)
All these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The LORD thy God accept thee. (2nd Samuel 24:23)
And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. (2nd Samuel 24:24)
And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight. (2nd Samuel 24:25)
And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel. (2nd Samuel 24:25)
This same event is later recorded in 1st Chronicles 21:19 as historical. (Although it may not seem like this to you, I will only focus on one point: the purchase price. However, the comparison between these two Scriptures is a deeper dive, let’s move on.)
And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spake in the name of the LORD. (1st Chronicles 21:19)
And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat. (1st Chronicles 21:20)
And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground. (1st Chronicles 21:21)
Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD:Â thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.(1st Chronicles 21:22)
And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all. (1st Chronicles 21:22)
And king David said to Ornan, Nay;Â but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost. (1st Chronicles 21:24)
So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight. (1st Chronicles 21:25)
And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering. (1st Chronicles 21:26)
And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof. (1st Chronicles 21:27)
At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there. (1st Chronicles 21:28)
In 2nd Samuel 24:24, David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver, and in 1st Chronicles 21:25 David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight. Silver always represents redemption, and the number fifty represents Jubilee or deliverance; therefore, the event in 2nd Samuel 24:24 tells the plan of redemption from the view of redeemed man looking upward to God, from the land and from Israel. So the LORD was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel, and Israel was then, in type, delivered and in future Jubilee, hope is confirmed.
Then in 1st Chronicles 21:25, we have gold, not silver, for redemption had been accepted and accomplished. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:14) But God’s redemption plan and program has always been based on, and implemented, and actualized through the blood of His own suffering (the threshingfloor) so that He would obtain eternal redemption for us through His righteousness. Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us]. (Hebrews 9:12)
David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight. The number six hundred here is weighed. Mankind has always been weighed and found wanting, yet in this verse, we have God’s eternal view of His redemption plan looking on man (the number 6) through His perfect Divine order (the number 10) multiplied to such a measure of perfection (10 x 10) that His righteous judgment against sin was completely satisfied, And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof. God accepted the sacrifice of David, the king, and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.
Through the purchase price of fifty shekels of silver not only were the land and Israel saved from the plague of sin, but through the purchase price of six hundred shekels of gold by weight the sword of judgment was no longer drawn against man because all had been satisfied and paid for. Ornan said, I give it all. Remember, one of the roots of the name of Ornan means ‘light was perpetuated,’ and Christ is the Eternal Light, the Ornan, the Strong One and He gave it all. And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. (Ephesians 5:2) The word worship (the true worship of God) is not mentioned with Babel for a particular reason. The Holy Spirit of God sets the word worship within a very specific range.
This is worship: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24) Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty. (2nd Corinthians 3:17) Worship is not a ceremonial ritual founded on tradition, nor can it be controlled or scheduled at a set time. It is a condition of heart, soul and spirit within the individual. Earthly collective worship is flawed because it is earthly. Collective worship which has become redefined and associated with entertainment, and with anything and everything that happens under the roof of an approved church venue is considered to be worship; however, collective worship is humble unified hearts gathered together proclaiming Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. (Revelation 4:11) . . . Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. (Revelation 5:12) . . . . Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. (Revelation 5:13)
Individual worship, however, when directed by God the Holy Spirit, is accepted by God whenever and wherever a heart overflows with love in Spirit and in Truth, through the Spirit and through Truth, and by the Spirit and by Truth recognizing that the sacrifice of Christ at the threshingfloor of Calvary has given liberty to all believers to worship God in the beauty of holiness by the Spirit of Christ. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. (Psalm 29:2) When hearts can trust God through faith and utter these words inwardly or outwardly then this is worship.
Following the word worship, let us go to the last mention of worship, Revelation 22:9, and from this, you should understand why God NEVER tied the word worship to Babel. Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, [and] for thy truth’s sake. (Psalm 115:1) Every city is built on man’s foundation of confusion, arrogance and pride, and revolves around their own perceived glory; therefore, the first city (Babel) could not be connected to the word worship because they were the first ‘Selfies,‘ . . . let us build us / let us make us.
This side note cannot end at this point until the other side of the threshingfloor is seen. We have attempted to show that since the primary element of the judgment of our sin was place on the Sin Bearer (our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ) who endured OUR judgment in His Body, there is also another judgment in the threshingfloor. Here is the conclusion to threshingfloor. The last mention of threshingfloor is recorded in Jeremiah 51:33. For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon [is] like a threshingfloor, [it is] time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come. (Either your sin was placed on Christ on the threshingfloor of Moriah (Calvary) and judged, or you will be judged at the great white throne judgment. One way or the other . . . . judgment is sure). And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. (Revelation 20:11) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (Revelation 20:12)
In the 22nd Chapter of the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ (which is the LAST Chapter of the Bible) in the ninth (9th) verse (which symbolizes the conclusion of all things) we have two words: WORSHIP GOD. Then saith he unto me, See [thou do it] not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
ALL worship must be centered on the threshingfloor on Moriah, where God offered Himself in Christ Jesus for the sin of the world. Moriah . . . threshingfloor . . . suffering . . . . worship . . . . six hundred shekels of gold . . . all met together in the Person chosen of God in His Son, Jesus Christ. Yes, it was at Calvary, on Moriah, ‘my teacher is Jah,’ ‘seen of Jah,‘ and the ‘Chosen of Jehovah‘ His Son, Jesus Christ said, It is finished. ♦ End of Side Note: The first mention of the word worship connected to the first and last mention of Moriah.
♦
And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. (Genesis 11:5) And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. (Genesis 11:6)
God is not limited to His spiritual realm, nor is He graceless to His creatures. He is neither remote nor inaccessible to the physical world of creation. Before sin, God walked with Adam, and communicated with Adam; after sin, God appeared many times in many ways to many people; however, we are examining only this phrase: And the LORD came down which is recorded four (4) times in the Old Testament. Through these four records there is a continuous theme of judgment and mercy.
• And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. (Genesis 11:5) Here we see the sin of men and what sin brings forth in building a world around their own evil imaginations.
• And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses [up] to the top of the mount; and Moses went up. (Exodus 19:20) There is much more than the Law seen here, but we also see that God allowed man to approach Him and Moses went up. In this Chapter we have the promise of God (in action) and in type of His coming in Person to dwell among His people, Israel.
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:Â (Exodus 19:5) ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel. (Exodus 19:6)
And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount. (Exodus 19:17)
• And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that [was] upon him, and gave [it] unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, [that], when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease. (Numbers 11:25) This is a Chapter of rebellion and judgment, and yet, God sent His Spirit to seventy (70) elders to aid His servant Moses to govern His people, Israel. Here is God’s promise (in action) and in type of a future supernatural event of the Holy Spirit of God indwelling not only the sons and daughters of Israel, but the sons of God, the children of God joined together as one in the blood of Christ.
Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD. (Ezekiel 39:29)
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. (Acts 2:17)
• And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood [in] the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. (Numbers 12:5) At this last record of this phrase And the LORD came down God judged the SIN of Aaron and Miriam. Because Miriam had been the instigator of the plot of rebellion against God’s servant Moses, she was made leprous (a symbol of sin). Therefore, it can be said that this last final phrase And the LORD came down reveals God’s final judgment of SIN against the children of Israel, and also His grace and mercy. As He allowed Miriam to suffer (for a set time period) He also made her anew, fresh, and free from leprosy. Through this last phrase And the LORD came down we have the prophecy of Chapter 11 and 12 in the book of Zechariah. Only a few verses from this prophecy that follows shows God’s judgment and God’s great mercy toward His people, Israel.
Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. (Zechariah 12:2) And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. (Zechariah 12:3)
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. (Zechariah 12:9) And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. (Zechariah 12:10)
In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness. (Zechariah 13:1)
And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. (Zechariah 13:8) And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God. (Zechariah 13:9)
Why is this phrase And the LORD came down not recorded in the New Testament? Because this phrase was fulfilled in His Son, Jesus Christ. The gospel first went out to the Jew and then to the Gentile as we read in Acts Chapter 3, verses 25 and 26.
Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. (Acts 3:25) Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. (Acts 3:26)
Eight times in the New Testament it is recorded that God sent His Son. But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, (Galatians 4:4)
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. (1st John 4:9) Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins. (1st John 4:10)
And the LORD came down, Jehovah God came down many times in the Old Testament through His Son, Jesus Christ, who was the physical image of God. Whenever the Godhead desired to interact with His creation, mankind, Christ Jesus was the tangible form to accomplish the will of the Godhead, that is why the Lord Jesus Christ is referred to as the Godhead bodily. Christ was the Body, the tangible, the visible, of the Godhead. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. (Colossians 2:9)
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (2nd Corinthians 4:4)
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: (Colossians 1:15)
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Hebrews 1:3)
And the LORD came down . . . . the Supernatural God came down in physical form many times and walked within His own creation, and as an Artist He walked into His earthly landscape painted by the brush of the endless colors of truth and grace.
♦
And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. (Genesis 11:6)
This 6th verse connects to the 6th Chapter of Genesis, where all civilization (except for 8 souls) was destroyed because of man’s inherent evil wicked imagination. And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Genesis 6:5) Millenniums have passed and the imagination of man has become his pride and purpose. Fantasy is praised, and insanity is honored and rewarded. We are witnesses to uncontrollable imaginations where men claim to be women, and women claim to be men, and children are taught that they are whatever they wish to be from moment to moment and from day to day . . . today a super hero, and tomorrow a choo choo train. The pretend world of make-believe childishness has now become the hope of adults living in fantasies proudly strutting their make-believe dreams into accepted realty that is beyond the pale. To call these creatures (who have been overcome by evil imaginations) insane is to incite hatred, but their willful vain evil imaginations have enraged them to the point beyond insanity. (Years past this form of insanity was labeled GID, Gender Identity Disorder; however, to make others more comfortable around these insane individuals, the ‘mental health experts’ decided to change the label to ‘gender dysphoria.’ Making this type of insanity more acceptable; however, insanity needs to be treated, not encouraged and rewarded.) As their madness multiples, spreads and contaminates other evil minds, they falsely believe that through their principle of majority rule and right that their evil imaginations are untouchable and without consequences, but the word of God is clear, [Though] hand [join] in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered. (Proverbs 11:21) Every one [that is] proud in heart [is] an abomination to the LORD: [though] hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished. (Proverbs 16:5)
Take note and take warning. In verse one of the second Psalm of David, God the Holy Spirit unveils a question about the godless masses. Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? Why this rage within man? Why do the people imagine a vain thing? Mankind without God, HATES GOD! It’s that simple. And their imaginations allow them to invent lies, and perverseness, and deceit, and their evil imaginations help them to formulate plans and actions against God and the people of God. Yes, and their mischief imaginations even permit them to be religious and to appear to serve God, and at the same time that they are working against the purposes and will of God. Liars find a safe haven within the professing church because very few dare call them out as liars. As undercover agents of Satan, haters of God work diligently and relentlessly undermining doctrines of truth and righteousness by substituting the word and commandments of God with doctrines of men, and precepts of men.
(Touch not; taste not; handle not; (Colossians 2:21) Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? (Colossians 2:22)
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:(Isaiah 29:13)
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. (Matthew 15:8) But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (Matthew 15:9)
Evil imaginations are not only the property of children of men, but the danger also lies when children of God allow their imaginations to come between them and their Savor, Jesus Christ. Admit truthfully, how often while in prayer does your mind wander into the swamp of imagination? How often while reading the word of God does your heart meander through the weeds of imaginative thoughts? Too often. Yes, evil imagination is a destruction force, and can be overcome for the child of God through prayer and the word of God. Imagination is a continual battle, and a continuous force that needs to be recognized and acknowledge as a deterrent to God’s word. We (Christians) have been made numb to the dangers of evil imaginations.
Evil imaginations praise deceivers and liars; consequently, they find solace and refuge in adding to their growing numbers. They are buried in lies unable to distinguish reality from insanity. Very few of the godless are able to stand against this deliberate insanity that is crushing all in its path.
Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: (Isaiah 28:15)
For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness. (Isaiah 59:3) None calleth for justice, nor [any] pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. (Isaiah 59:4)
The book of Romans, Chapter 1 should be required reading for all, especially those who do not see the relevance of Scripture to current events. This Chapter condemns those who love their fantasy world. Strange how from one side of their twisted mouths they espouse that there is no need for gender, (the use of the word ‘gender’ is not synonymous with ‘sex’, and the use of ‘gender’ should not be connected with the words ‘male’ or ‘female.’ Gender is a grammatical term. Even something as simple as a grammatical term is misused from the fantasy experts), then from the other side they insist that all agree with their trans’this’ and trans’that,’ unable to reason is surely a symptom of insanity. (One is either male or female, not partial male or partial female, not 3/4 male, or 3/4 female, or ½ male or ½ female, to believe otherwise IS insanity.)
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (Romans 1:20) Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. (Romans 1:21) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, (Romans 1:22)
It is not merely stating that the battle is important, but understanding that it is neither our eastern flank, nor our weakest flank that is being attacked, but the attack is against our spiritual flank, it is against our connection to heaven that is being attacked. The attack is directed against our King, Master and Lord. The last attack from the wicked imaginations of the liars and deceivers is against the written word and the Living Word. We (Christians) are standing in the way, therefore, we must be eliminated physically or spiritually and made useless to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Do not fall for this lie . . . the lie is that we are useless and can be made unsaved, we can become unredeemed, that we are fluid Christians who flow in and out of salvation, and that once made one with Him we can become un-one with Him. We are targets by the imaginations of evilness attempting to make our imaginations accept the lies of their imaginations.
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (2nd Corinthians 10:3) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (2nd Corinthians 10:4) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (2nd Corinthians 10:5) And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. (2nd Corinthians 10:6)

Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. (Genesis 11:7)
In this revelation of the origin of Babel we see Nimrod’s hand And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel. He built this city. This city was the first unification of man working against God. It was a confederacy to consolidate the people united with a common goal – let us make us a name. Three (3) times we read the words ‘let us.’
And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. (Genesis 11:3) And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top [may reach] unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.(Genesis 11:4)
But God also said, let us because God is a greater united force in Godhead then mankind could ever be in their illusion of their strength in unity. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. (Genesis 11:6) As Babel wrapped themselves in unity of evil, God revealed His unity as One in the Godhead through these words, Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. (Genesis 11:7) This was not the first time that God said let us. In Genesis 1:26, it is recorded, And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. And mankind thinks that they can out plan God and overcome God’s plan. The very first time that God spoke to man in Genesis 1:1 (from the first word to the seventh Hebrew word of His Perfection) God witnessed His Godhead through the second word of plurality in ‘elohiym.
In the beginning <re’shiyth> God <‘elohiym> created <bara’> <‘eth> the heaven <shamayim> and <‘eth> the earth. <‘erets>. Remember . . . no one can out plan God. No one can outspeak God. Seven words (in the Hebrew language) reveal God’s perfection, and here is another proof that man could never have authored the Bible. This was God’s introduction of Himself to His creatures in seven words. He is the Perfect Creator. He is the Perfect God. The very first words from the mouth of God to all of creation proclaimed the Oneness, the Unification of the Godhead.

So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. (Genesis 11:8)
Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. (Genesis 11:9)
“United we stand, divided we fall,” has been the rallying cry from the beginning of recorded fables and story tellers. This is much more than a statement; it is also a plan of battle, and a political and religious policy about how to destroy the opposition. ‘Divided THEY fall, when united we stand,’ is the current successful policy of Satan and his undercover agents and ministers of righteousness. Our current pretend government administration are experts in dividing the people who they viciously rule over. Our spiritual war involves an unseen battle with supernatural weaponry entwined with seen adversaries and their weapons of lies, imagination, visual misrepresentation, and word manipulation. The battle for the control over the minds of men has been reinforced with the attempt to take control over the bodies of men, women and children. And lastly to enter this fray of control is dominion over the souls of men. The minds of the godless has been successfully overcome, the bodies of the godless have been willingly given to the experts of so-called science to inject into their bodies whatever these ‘experts’ deem necessary to take control over the masses. And now we have come to the last connection to God: souls.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Matthew 16:26)
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Mark 8:36) Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mark 8:37_
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1st Thessalonians 5:23)
Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; (1st Peter 2:11)
The citizens of Babel believed that they were united together as one, and they were, but they were united against their Creator God. Therefore, God disrupted their one world unification program and scattered them throughout the earth. The seed of Babel (which is mankind united as one against God) has never ceased from the hearts of evil men. The history of every nation and peoples is full of rulers, tyrants and despots who thought that they could achieve a one world government built around themselves.
Babel was the first attempt of a one world government built around the unity of rebellion and the worship of the works of their hands. Babylon is the last attempt of a one world government being built through the force of division and dissension by those who falsely and deceptively proclaim, “United we stand, divided we fall.” Using political and religious division men and women of renown are united. See how this works, they are united to divide YOU. Babylon the Great has been building on the foundation of Babel since Genesis Chapter 11. The study of Babel is a contemporary issue. Babel is not just a past happening, but it is happening daily.
Although this article is a long read, it is very relevant. There is much more to follow about Babel, Shinar and Babylon . . . . God willing, we will be delving into the prophecy of MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH (Revelation 17:5) in future articles.
