The Woman

CONTINUES

in the Third and Last Woman in the book of the Revelation

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:4) And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Genesis 6:5)

This series called Men of Renown will begin with these verses in Chapter 6 of the book of Genesis because it is the perfect scene setter for whatever and whoever follows that enables men of renown to act in conflict against God and His Word. Verses 4 and 5 are an accurate definition of men of renown.

The game plan is to cover all SIX mentions of a woman, and the woman in Revelation Chapter 17 of Revelation.

1.  So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. (Revelation 17:3)

2.  And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: (Revelation 17:4)

3.  And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. (Revelation 17:6)

4.  And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. (Revelation 17:7)

5.  And here [is] the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. (Revelation 17:9)

6.  And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. (Revelation 17:18)

5.  And here [is] the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. (Revelation 17:9)

6.  And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. (Revelation 17:18)

If you are new to this series . . . my condolences. CLICK HERE for the previous article . . . just a suggestion.

To those who have bravely survived previous articles keep your aspirin bottle close to you for we are about to continue on to discover the connection between Revelation 17:9  the woman sitteth and the second woman in scripture who is described as sitting. What is the message from God in this act of sitting, especially by the woman?

♦

The Second Woman Who Sat

Rachel

Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel’s furniture, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found (them) not. (Genesis 31:34)

There will be no reading assignment except to read the references in this article. To get to Rachel sitting it is needful to comprehend why she was sitting, and what she was sitting on, and how all this connects to the woman sitting in Revelation 17:9 for the woman of power and control over the nations of world is called MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. (Revelation 17:5)

And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: (Revelation 17:1)

With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. (Revelation 17:2)

So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. (Revelation 17:3)

And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: (Revelation 17:4)

And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. (Revelation 17:5)

The woman sitting is Babylon, (Revelation 17:3) her position of sitting indicates that she is resting because her work is over. Sitting shows her authority over those who stand waiting for her edicts. As a queen and mother of whores she has taken control over mankind through female deceptiveness. If any have a problem with female deceptiveness versus male deceptiveness, I think that God the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of Christ) as the Author of the written word of God has CLEARLY revealed that it is the FEMALE of the species of man who has achieved  control and domination over the male species.  How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man. (Jeremiah 31:22) Although this prophecy was directed to the backsliding daughter . . . note it was not to the spiritual idolatrous wife of Jehovah but the backsliding daughter for it is Israel’s progeny. This prophecy is specifically addressed to the earth: to the entire world. . . that the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth. And it is not good, for if it was a new thing then the old thing was that before this new thing, women did not compass a man.

Back to Jacob, Rachel and Laban, the poster children of the dynamics within a dysfunctional family unity. (Many readers will probably feel quite at home in this setting of control, manipulation and lies. The Bible is not only about promises, and the joys that are set before us, but the word of God deliberately reveals the problems, the sins, and hearts who can see nothing else except themselves. There are many who criticize the word of God because it TRUTHFULLY reveals what is within mankind. They say that the Bible is full of hatred. Yup, because the Bible is about man. They say that the Bible shows the horrors of war. Yup, because the Bible is about man. They say that the Bible has some nasty words, and some nasty people. Dear me, dear my, yet some of the most celebrated songs have lyrics that would cause embarrassment even to a sailor. (My apologies to sailors!) They say that the Bible shouldn’t show hatred and the horror of war because it works against the sensitivities of mankind. Yet, these same sensitive souls have no difficulty watching the hatred and horrors of war every evening, never mind the horrendous and pornographic videos and movies on their entertainment shelf. Therefore, we will push onward to Jacob, Rachel and Laban. The birth, the character and the early influences on Jacob by his mother Rebekah, the conflicts between Jacob’s older twin brother Esau (older by seconds), Jacob’s forced exile into Syria the ancestral home of his parents, Jacob’s love life and the two women (Rachel and Leah) who controlled his home life, the disputes between his father-in-law Laban and Laban’s sons, the struggles to acquire a place of wealth and leverage to remove himself from the position of servitude from his father-in-law. For twenty years Laban benefitted greatly financially and became a person of renown through Jacob’s labor.

This twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flock have I not eaten. (Genesis 31:38)

That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand didst thou require it, whether stolen by day, or stolen by night. (Genesis 31:39)

Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes. (Genesis 31:40)

Thus have I been twenty years in thy house; I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy cattle: and thou hast changed my wages ten times.  (Genesis 31:41)

This brief synopsis of Jacob’s time spent in the house of Laban aids in our understanding of what led Jacob to plan his escape from the tyrant Laban, but there is a single verse (Genesis 31:43) that perfectly describes Laban.

Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight. (Genesis 31:42)

And Laban answered and said unto Jacob, These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and these cattle are my cattle, and all that thou seest is mine: and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or unto their children which they have born?  (Genesis 31:43)

Do you see what type of person Laban was? These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and these cattle are my cattle, and all that thou seest is mine. Laban made claim on everything that Jacob had: his two wives (Rachel and Leah), all of Jacob’s children and all of Jacob’s cattle. Jacob was correct when he said, Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked [thee] yesternight. (Genesis 31:42) While in Padanaram in Syria, Jacob, the Supplanter, (his name means Supplanter) labored for a supplanter (Laban) as Jacob had taken Esau’s birthright and position of heirship from his twin brother by guile and deviousness, Laban also used guile and deviousness to advance his leverage against Jacob, the Supplanter. Laban and Jacob were two supplanters, two men of guile trying to outmaneuver each other.

Backstory: Esau (Jacob’s twin brother) did not regard his place as heir as a position of great consequences because he thought little of heirship and God the Holy Spirit documents that Esau despised his birthright and sold it bread and pottage of lentiles. (Genesis 25:32-35) All the manipulations of Rebekah and Jacob against Isaac and Esau only worked because of God’s will, however, Rebekah lost in that she never saw her son Jacob again, and Jacob lost because he never saw his mother again, nevertheless, God’s purpose, plan and will overcame the manipulations of a mother (Rebekah), and the joint guile of mother and son in Jacob.

In the New Testament in the book of Ephesians, Chapter 1, verse 1, God the Holy Spirit (through the apostle Paul) speaks of the predestinate inheritance of the sons of God is according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will. There is a famous statement, Man proposes, God disposes. However, the plan and plot of Jacob and Rebekah are examples of another premise, that God uses the plans of man to further His own plans and purposes. Man can neither out plan God’s plan, nor can man out maneuver and out manipulate God.

Remember this important premise: the beginning of man’s troubles all began in the heavenly realm of God’s supernatural sphere. The Heirship of Christ in His position as Melchisedec, the High Priest of the most high God, was the focus of Lucifer in his failed attempt to steal this position from Christ. All that troubles Israel then and now is because of Heirship, birthright and inheritance. Since this is so, why is Rachel drawn into the agenda of Satan as the second woman sitting? Stay with me! Satan’s attack was to destroy, through cunning infiltration, the line of the promise, to corrupt the seed of promise, and what better way then to use a woman . . . a mother, a wife.

The first attack on the nation of Israel BEFORE it became a nation was through Hagar and Ishmael: create a division or question regarding Heirship. The second attack on the nation of Israel BEFORE it became a nation was through Rachel: establish idolatry into the line of the promise; thus, corrupt the line of Heirship.

In Revelation Chapter 12, verses 1 and 2, God reveals that Lucifer’s goal from BEFORE the nation of Israel was born was to destroy God’s people. And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: (Revelation 12:1) And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. (Revelation 12:2) Moving through scripture following the ‘sitting woman,’ the Spirit of God will disclose how from the first in Hagar and then next through Rachel, Satan’s agenda will develop further, and in every mention of a woman sitting God reveals Lucifer/Satan’s program and ties it all to the last mention of a sitting woman in Revelation Chapter 17. Following scriptural threads of words, actions, and phrases is called . . . wait for it . . . BIBLE STUDY. Try this on your own, select a verse, then following its theme through a word, a phrase or an action and be amazed at the greatness of God.

Back to Laban, Jacob and Rachel . . .

Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead. (Genesis 31:25)

And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done, that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives taken with the sword? (Genesis 31:26)

Wherefore didst thou flee away secretly, and steal away from me; and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth, and with songs, with tabret, and with harp? (Genesis 31:27)

And hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? thou hast now done foolishly in so doing. (Genesis 31:28)

It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take thou heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad. (Genesis 31:29)

And now, though thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longedst after thy father’s house, yet wherefore hast thou stolen my gods? (Genesis 31:30)

And Jacob answered and said to Laban, Because I was afraid: for I said, Peradventure thou wouldest take by force thy daughters from me. (Genesis 31:31)

With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them. (Genesis 31:32)

And Laban went into Jacob’s tent, and into Leah’s tent, and into the two maidservants’ tents; but he found them not. Then went he out of Leah’s tent, and entered into Rachel’s tent. (Genesis 31:33)

Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel’s furniture, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found them not. (Genesis 31:34)

And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the images. (Genesis 31:35)

The fact of Rachel stealing the images of her father is documented three times: And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images that [were] her father’s. (Genesis 31:19) With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them. (Genesis 31:32) Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel’s furniture, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found [them] not. (Genesis 31:34) The Spirit of God does not want us to miss the theft of Rachel. But one thing that the Spirit of God does not mention is her reason for stealing her father’s little gods. Think of these possibilities: she thought to remove any power that these images gave to Laban; thus, allowing Jacob and his company to escape safely and it also could be a means of distraction to allow them more time. But it also could be because she believed that Laban’s images had spiritual strength and powers, or all of the above.

After Abraham and Sarah and Lot left Haran after the death of Terah, those who remained in Haran, the family of Nahor (Abraham’s brother) easily reverted back to their previous condition of worshiping idols from their native land of Ur of Chaldees. Laban had images, gods, although Laban and his family knew OF the God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, and the God of their father all the way back to Shem, the son of Noah, KNOWING OF is very different from BELIEVING IN. Genesis 31:53 are the words of Laban to Jacob when they sealed a peace treaty between themselves. The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge betwixt us. And Jacob sware by the fear of his father Isaac. From Laban’s point of belief the God of Abraham differed from his own understanding of God. In Genesis 31:29 notice the phrase but the God of YOUR father. Laban did not think of the God of Abraham as also being his God. It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take thou heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad. Although Laban obeyed God’s warning, and he full well understood the power of The God of Abraham, and the God of Jacob, Laban was truly a man of the earth for he felt the need to add to his spiritual safety net other gods made of silver, gold and stone . . . you know, just in case. (You never know when they will come in handy.) The God of Abraham YOUR FATHER wasn’t the God of Laban. You may think that this is a small detail, but it is not. You cannot have one mouth saying, Jesus Saves, and your other mouth saying that there is more than one way to heaven.

As Laban failed, as Israel failed, and as the Church failed . . . Elijah proclaimed to Israel in 1st Kings 18:21, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. Why did Laban fail, and Israel failed and the Church failed? The failure can be seen in their lack of honesty with themselves and with God.

• So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places. (2nd Kings 17:32)

• They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence. (2nd Kings 17:33)

• So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day. (2nd Kings 17:41)

• You cannot FEAR the LORD AND (PLUS) . . .

• You cannot serve God AND  (PLUS) . . .

• You cannot love God AND  (PLUS) . . .

• You cannot be a Christian AND (PLUS) . . .

Laban never had a love for God. Israel rejected God’s love, and the Church left their first love.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that [were] on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:15)

Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. (Revelation 2:4) Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. (Revelation 2:5)

Back to Laban’s daughter, Rachel, sitting on Laban’s stolen gods. What was her reason for stealing these images of Laban, what did she hope to accomplish, and what happened to these images of little gods? Chapter thirty-five (35) of Genesis discloses many endings: Jacob put an end to the worship of idols, Deborah (Rebekah’s nurse) died, Jacob’s name became Israel, Rachel died, Isaac died, and because of Reuben’s act against God and his father Jacob, Reuben’s heirship and his birthright ended. (1st Chronicles 5:1). There is a lot to learn from each ending, but there is also more to learn about each new beginning.

Before God would allow Jacob to make an altar to Him, the first thing that had to end was the worship of all the gods that were in the camp of Jacob. Jacob KNEW about these strange gods, he knew that the camp was unclean in the eyes of God. Follow verses 2 and 4.

And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother. (Genesis 35:1)

Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments: (Genesis 35:2)

And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went. (Genesis 35:3)

And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem. (Genesis 35:4)

And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob. (Genesis 35:5)

So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Bethel, he and all the people that were with him. (Genesis 35:6)

And he built there an altar, and called the place Elbethel: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother. (Genesis 35:7)

But Deborah Rebekah’s nurse died, and she was buried beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called Allonbachuth. (Genesis 35:8)

And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him. (Genesis 35:9)

And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel. (Genesis 35:10)

∼

And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel. (Genesis 35:15)

It was the stolen images of Rachel that infiltrated into the camp. First, sin begins as a little thing, then it spreads and multiples until it is so large that it encompasses man. In Genesis 35:4 there is an unusual connection to the strange gods which were in their hand, AND all their earrings which were in their ears. When examining the mention of earrings in scripture you will find two sources, one source will be how God uses the earring and the other is how man uses the earring. Man uses the earring as the witness of his vanity, pride and wealth over others. Judges 8:24 discloses the origin of golden earrings. The use of earrings in the ear began with Ishmael. You remember Ishmael and Hagar from the previous article of the first woman described as sitting. And Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that ye would give me every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they [were] Ishmaelites.) Ishmael was the first rebel from the line of Abraham, And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren. (Genesis 16:12) Put it together, the strange gods in their hands AND their earrings were the visible witnesses of rebellion against the authority of sovereignty of God.

Before Jacob could build an altar at Bethel (the house of God) all gods must be put away, all things must be made clean. Genesis 35:4 informs us where God directed Jacob to bury the strange gods and their earrings:  under the oak which [was] by Shechem. We must leave all that we worship of the earth, all of our idols, all of ourselves at the foot of the cross . . . under the oak of strength, under the oak of one of the mountains of Moriah, under the oak of Calvary.

Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that [were] with him, Put away the strange gods that [are] among you, and be clean, and change your garments: (Genesis 35:2)

And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which [were] in their hand, and [all their] earrings which [were] in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which [was] by Shechem. (Genesis 35:4)

The oak, of course, speaks of the cross of Christ, the place of sacrifice for sin. Shechem (means a shoulder or ridge, or early rising). Under the oak which [was] by Shechem combines the strength of the oak with the strength of the shoulder directing us to see in this combination by the Holy Spirit of God: Christ.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. (Isaiah 22:22)

And he spake this parable unto them, saying, Luke 1 5:3) What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? Luke 1 5:4) And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. Luke 1 5:5)

In Genesis Chapter 35, two things are under an oak. Look carefully how the Holy Spirit of God, through His servant Moses, distinguishes the difference between these two places. (Genesis 35:4) In the first mention of under the oak, in verse 4, (the earth number) we have idolatry; in the second mention of under the oak, in verse 8, (the number new beginnings, resurrection and regeneration) Deborah is buried, the faithful servant of Rebekah. That is one difference between verses 4 and 8. The next difference is that the idolatry and sins of the camp of Jacob were HID under the oak which was by Shechem, while the body of Deborah (her name means ‘bee‘ and ‘her speaking’) was not HID but it was BURIED BENEATH BETHEL. Deborah’s place of burial was called Allonbachuth. Allonbachuth means ‘oak of weeping.

And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which [were] in their hand, and [all their] earrings which [were] in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which [was] by Shechem. (Genesis 35:4)

But Deborah Rebekah’s nurse died, and she was buried beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called Allonbachuth. (Genesis 35:8)

Do you see the implication, the similarities and the difference between the place, and what was hid and buried in each place? Before we follow the difference, now would be a good time to develop the meaning of Bethel. Bethel means ‘house of God.‘ But, the last mention of the word Bethel in the Old Testament in Amos 7:13ADDS to this meaning. Notice the address number: 7 (God’s Perfection – The LIGHT ) and number 13 (sin, evil and iniquity- the darkness). But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it [is] the king’s chapel, and it [is] the king’s court. (Amos 7:13) (Amos, the herdsman, was threatened by the priest of Bethel (a corrupt man of the cloth of a corrupt system of priesthood who had taken over ‘the house of God’) to never speak the words of God anymore at Bethel. Yet, out of the mouth of perversion came the changed definition of ‘the house of God’ as belonging to the earthly king . . . without considering that Bethel was the house, chapel and court of the Almighty God and heavenly King.) Bethel was the visible place where man could approach God, and it represented the INVISIBLE place where God would accept man’s approach to His throne room through His KING in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now back to see the implication and the similarities and differences between the place, and what was hid and buried in each place. The idolatry of sin was HID under the oak BY Shechem and the faithful servant Deborah, the speaking bee, was BURIED BENEATH BETHEL UNDER the OAK. Do you see the difference? Shechem was the second city labeled as ‘the city of refuge.’ Shechem denotes the strength of our sanctuary that IN Him we find strength for the day, and strength for tomorrow. In Joshua 24:26, Shechem is called the sanctuary of the LORD. And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that [was] by the sanctuary of the LORD. For the shoulders of Christ bears the Divine Government of God. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder. (CLICK HERE to learn more about Shechem.)

We, who believe and are saved from the judgment and wrath of God, are HIDDEN in Christ, for He is our refuge, our Shechem, our strength. If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. (Colossians 3:1) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. (Colossians 3:2) For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:3) Those who are BURIED with Him will also walk in newness of life in the power of His endless life. We are BURIED BENEATH the eternal refuge of God’s judicial COURT of righteousness. As faithful servants we will be BURIED under ‘the oak of weeping’ to weep nevermore. Therefore, BURIED BENEATH describes the faithful old servant (Deborah) connected to resurrection and regeneration.

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:4) For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: (Romans 6:5)

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. (Colossians 2:12)

Although there is much more that can be written about Rachel and the scene of her sitting, let us recap where we are at this point: in Hagar, the woman sitting represents the beginning of ALL that will come against Israel, and where the hatred against Israel germinated: Ishmael. Then in Rachel, sitting on the stolen idols, she represents the beginning of idolatry that was brought into the camp of Jacob. I’m not sure yet where God is leading, but I am sure that there will be much that will lead to Chapter 17 of the book of Revelation.

Remember this scene, And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the images. (Genesis 31:35) This scene leads us into the fourth mention of a woman sitting in Leviticus Chapter 15, and past the third woman that was sitting in an open place: Tamar in Genesis 38:14. (I don’t really understand why we are skipping over the second woman (Tamar in Genesis 38) to the fourth person sitting in Leviticus Chapter 15, but nevertheless, that seems to be the Spirit’s plan for us.)

♦

The Sitting Women

And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean: every thing also that she sitteth upon shall be unclean.  (Leviticus 15:20)

And whosoever toucheth any thing that she sat upon shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. (Leviticus 15:22)

The book of Leviticus deals with the priesthood under Aaron and his sons and their responsibilities in service to the Almighty God. God sets His standards of godliness and holiness in every aspect of their service and beyond their service into their public and private lives. This third book is a book of worship, of course, it has to be the third book in the Bible because the number three is the number of the Divine Godhead. Readers, by now, should be fully aware that ALL scripture is not only written by God for ALL, but ALL in scripture whether Old Testament or New Testament is for our learning. Things written for Israel, and for the high priests and for their children are also for our learning. As you move through this amazing book, each offering and sacrifice mentioned is for ALL to meditate on because it not only instructs man of earthly responsibilities of service and worship, but it teaches that God distinguishes between clean and unclean, sin and holiness, acceptance of service and rejection of service. With each successive chapter the Holy Spirit of God progressively goes from priestly service and requirements to individual service and requirements to private service and requirements. God leaves no condition of man from his standards of holiness. God takes in man’s home, man’s garments, man’s flesh, and expects man to see that everything that he touches he defiles. Leviticus begins with priesthood, and then takes in the people gathered in the camp and their obligations and duties under the Law. This is not about Law and Grace, but it is about clean and unclean. The words clean and unclean only appear in the Old Testament, because the Old Testament sets up the beginning of being clean and unclean in the eyes of God. The New Testament adds more to our understanding as unclean is of the flesh, and clean is of the Spirit. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (John 3:6) In the Old Testament, those who are unclean are told to wash, bathe, with water, and the New Testament carries this cleansing with the word of God. The same failure of the Old Testament teaching priests is the same failure within the New Testament teachers of the word of God. It is the failure to teach discernment between good and evil, between clean and unclean, between holy and profane. And they shall teach my people [the difference] between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean. (Ezekiel 44:23) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. (1st John 4:1) The failure within the professing church is to accept everything and everyone, however, those of the possessing Church are told to try the spirits, to JUDGE that which is within the Church. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrews 5:14)

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1st Corinthians 2:14)

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. (Romans 8:5) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (Romans 8:6) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. (Romans 8:7) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:8)

Let’s connect Genesis 31:35, with Rachel sitting, And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the images to the fourth woman sitting (the number four (4) is the number of the earth), therefore, this fourth woman represents ALL women of the earth. Rachel’s excuse for sitting was the time of month when blood issues forth from women and this is the connection to Leviticus 15:22. This maybe too much for some people to read, a wall too high to climb; yet God’s message in the 15th Chapter of Leviticus is the origin, the beginning of the woman known as MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. (Revelation 17:5) And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: (Revelation 17:4)
I suggest you hold your breath and READ Chapter 15 of Leviticus, and as you read, ask the Spirit of God to show you why this Chapter is in the Bible. What does the issue of blood from women during their time of month have to do with ANYTHING, especially, the Bible? This is the central focus of a woman sitting, And whosoever toucheth any thing that she sat upon shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. (Leviticus 15:22)

And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even. (Leviticus 15:19)
And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean: every thing also that she sitteth upon shall be unclean. (Leviticus 15:20)
And whosoever toucheth her bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. (Leviticus 15:21)
And whosoever toucheth any thing that she sat upon shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. (Leviticus 15:22)
And if it be on her bed, or on any thing whereon she sitteth, when he toucheth it, he shall be unclean until the even. (Leviticus 15:23)
And if any man lie with her at all, and her flowers be upon him, he shall be unclean seven days; and all the bed whereon he lieth shall be unclean. (Leviticus 15:24)
And if a woman have an issue of her blood many days out of the time of her separation, or if it run beyond the time of her separation; all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation: she shall be unclean. (Leviticus 15:25)
Every bed whereon she lieth all the days of her issue shall be unto her as the bed of her separation: and whatsoever she sitteth upon shall be unclean, as the uncleanness of her separation. (Leviticus 15:26)
And whosoever toucheth those things shall be unclean, and shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. (Leviticus 15:27)
But if she be cleansed of her issue, then she shall number to herself seven days, and after that she shall be clean. (Leviticus 15:28)
And on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtles, or two young pigeons, and bring them unto the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. (Leviticus 15:29)
And the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for her before the LORD for the issue of her uncleanness. (Leviticus 15:30)
Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness; that they die not in their uncleanness, when they defile my tabernacle that is among them. (Leviticus 15:31)
This is the law of him that hath an issue, and of him whose seed goeth from him, and is defiled therewith; (Leviticus 15:32)
And of her that is sick of her flowers, and of him that hath an issue, of the man, and of the woman, and of him that lieth with her that is unclean. (Leviticus 15:33)

As the Spirit of God develops the differences between clean and unclean, He draws it all together in the origin of clean and unclean, good and evil, and lays it on the doorstep of the first woman, Eve. From that beginning point at Eve, she represents the source of the impure fountain of sin. It is not about one particular person, Eve, or Rachel, or any woman, but God draws the issue of spiritual uncleanness to nature itself, to the natural realm, the realm of the flesh, the sphere of ALL of mankind. Chapter 15 is personal, very personal, the Holy Spirit of God up to this chapter has revealed sin and evil, light and darkness, clean and unclean in priests, in the sons of priests, in people, in garments and in houses, and in Chapter 15 He draws every man and every woman into the state of uncleanness. For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) I’d say that this was quite personal, wouldn’t you. The 15th Chapter ends with the uncleanness of both male and female even in the natural world of man. Man is unclean. Many times, we have written that within the very DNA of man there is the gene of sin. Leviticus Chapter 15 discloses that everything that flows from WITHIN man from the natural world needs to be cleansed. Within all of us there is the fountain head, the spring, the source, the stream of uncleanness: sin. Even the things which are natural to mankind is sin. Also, within Chapter 15, everything that mankind touches, handles, sits on, brushes up against is contaminated by man.
This is just one of many spiritual concepts in Leviticus Chapter 15: the concept of the universal depravity of mankind is the theme of Leviticus Chapter 15. Now watch how the Spirit of God moves from this chapter to Chapter 16. Since Chapter 15 is about universal depravity of mankind, then Chapter 16 presents the Day of Atonement and the scape goat in answer to Chapter 15. Verse 4 (the earth number) of Chapter 14 (God’s perfect order in the number ten added to the earth number) in the book of Job asks a profound question to ALL man, Who can bring a clean [thing] out of an unclean? not one. Then within Chapter 16 we have the One who can make the unclean clean. Now, tell me that man wrote the Bible.
Back to Rachel sitting in Genesis 31 and the woman sitting in Leviticus 15 . . . and the relevance to the last woman sitting in Revelation Chapter 17. And here [is] the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. (Revelation 17:9) In Hagar, the woman sitting represents the beginning of ALL that will come against Israel, and where the hatred against Israel germinated: Ishmael. Then in Rachel, sitting on the stolen idols, she represents the beginning of idolatry that was brought into the camp of Jacob. The hatred and idolatry that first began in the camp of Abraham and later in the camp of Jacob against Jehovah and the seed of the promise spread into every part of the globe, and into every aspect of life. The woman known as Mystery, Babylon the great, is universal uncleanness (mankind) from the source of all uncleanness (the devil) through the religion of uncleanness portrayed in scripture as a mother, and a harlot, a woman, a sitting woman, sitting in arrogance and pride over the mountains of power over the men of renown. A woman shall compass a man. (Jeremiah 31:22b)
Rachel sitting on the idols spiritually depicts that the root and source of all forms of idolatry flows from within mankind. God, the Holy Spirit, specifically adds a piece of information that seems at first a bit odd. Why did God add this small detail that Rachel put the idols IN the camel’s furniture? First, the word camel is mentioned six (6) times in the Old Testament and six times in the New Testament. Again, I will remind you that six is the number of man. Secondly, the camel is considered by God to be an unclean beast. (Leviticus 11:4; Deuteronomy 14:7) Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel’s furniture, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found [them] not. (Genesis 31:34) Everything about this scene is unclean. And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the images. (Genesis 31:35) She stated that she was unclean (whether she told the truth or lied . . . she was unclean). Rachel (being unclean) placed the unclean thing in an unclean thing and by sitting on the unclean thing made herself part of the unclean thing while comfortably resting with uncleanness. I’d say that God is telling us something. The second mention of a woman sitting definitely deals with uncleanness, and this is the connection to the great whore of Babylon, as she sits comfortably on the uncleanness of idolatry over the entire globe.

God willing, the next article will be Part xli (XLI) (41) The Sitting Woman.

And pray tell . . . who is the next sitting woman?
