Giants in the Earth – Part i . . .

Giants in the Earth

Part i

Genesis 6:1-7

I suggest that you read this link first in Genesis 4:19-24 – Part 1 – The Women in the Line of Cain before reading this article on Giants in the Earth,

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, (Genesis 6:1)

That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. (Genesis 6:2)

And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. (Genesis 6:3)

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:4)

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Genesis 6:5)

And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. (Genesis 6:6)

And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. (Genesis 6:7)

The Clan of Cain

In Genesis Chapter 4 from verses 17 to 24 we have the instruction from God the Holy Spirit concerning a particular group, or a specific community of God haters, the clan of Cain. Again, I encourage you to read previous articles on Cain and Abel to get a better understanding of the background and development of Cain’s clan.

Side Bar: And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. (Genesis 4:17)

And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech. (Genesis 4:18)

And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. (Genesis 4:19)

And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle. (Genesis 4:20)

And his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ. (Genesis 4:21)

And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah. (Genesis 4:22)

And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt. (Genesis 4:23)

If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold. (Genesis 4:24)

Notice that in verses 19 to 24 in Chapter 4 of Genesis, what God does not say: you will not find the words, ‘and he died.’ This phrase ‘and he died’ is repeatedly emphasized when describing the line of Seth, or the godly line as it is recorded in Chapter 5. I can think of two reasons why the Holy Spirit did not record the line of Cain as, ‘and he died.’ One, they were already spiritually dead to God, and second, the characteristics that these haters of God displayed never cease throughout the history of mankind. Their sins of lust, promiscuousness, greed, and murder mark them out as the evil seed that permeates humanity.

God distinguished or drew the lines of separation at the very beginning of the history of humanity. Man is drawn to his own kind. Man produces after his own kind. Birds of a feather flock together. Sin is drawn to sin. In numbers there is safety to sin more. Diversity is the fad word and fable of the foolish minded. At the very beginning of history God reveals groups of people divided (from other groups) by their hatred for God, or else separated from others by their reverence and obedience toward their Creator. This hatred of God or love of God was the commonality within three different groups of humanity. Let’s look at the first group.

The Father of the Cain Clan

And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. (Genesis 4:8)

And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper? (Genesis 4:9)

And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground. (Genesis 4:10)

And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand; (Genesis 4:11)

When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. (Genesis 4:12)

And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear. (Genesis 4:13)

Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me. (Genesis 4:14)

And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. (Genesis 4:15

And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. (Genesis 4:16)

What a model to build a society on, a murderer, cursed by God, a fugitive, a vagabond, fearful of others seeking revenge. The fugitive description of Cain goes beyond nomadic considerations, as Cain stopped roaming and is noted for building the first city on planet Earth. Fugitive also suggests a transitory, non-stable personality. Then he is a vagabond, however, Cain settled his focus not on a wandering existence but a vagabond spirit of rebellion against His Creator. He not only built a city but built a society around his hatred and rebellion against God. Again, I suggest that you read the article on The Women in the Line of Cain. But I am not through with Cain. What is the distinguishing characteristic of the clan of Cain? What prevented people of the line of Seth or the other children of the line Adam to seek revenge against this murderer of the righteous Abel? Remember, we have the line of the other children of Adam (the ungodly and the evil seed), we have the line of Seth (the godly line), and the line of Cain (not only another line of the evil seed, but directly the children of the devil).

I am attempting to show that there were three distinct lines of mankind: 1) Adam’s children who followed after their father Adam in rebellion against God, 2) Seth the appointed son of Adam who replaced God’s servant Abel.

And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, [said she], hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. (Genesis 4:25)

And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD. (Genesis 4:26)

Which was [the son] of Enos, which was [the son] of Seth, which was [the son] of Adam, which was [the son] of God. (Luke 3:38)

Seth is clearly traced in the genealogy of the Lord Jesus Christ as the son of God. 3) Cain who was cursed by God (And now art thou cursed from the earth) and forever after connected to Satan as a murderer. Three lines of humanity that later merged together and were united by sin. Let’s narrow our focus to two lines of humanity: Cain and Seth. Later the other line from Adam (Seth’s relatives and family) will be drawn into this circle.

What further separates the line of Cain from the line of Seth? We have a spiritual demarcation: the line of Cain hated God, and the line of Seth identified themselves with God their Creator. And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD. (Genesis 4:26) Now this would definitely be considered a point of demarcation. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:15) Whenever the decision is made to follow God without reservation, without doubt, without compromise, the battle lines are drawn, and hatred comes out in full force against those who follow God and who call on His name. But I am not through with Cain.

Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me. (Genesis 4:14) Cain didn’t seem to hesitate in killing his brother, however, he showed great concern over someone killing him in revenge. Poor, poor Cain, poor, poor sympathetic murderer.

God set a space around Cain to protect others from committing the same sin as Cain. I look at this as not as much as protecting Cain, but God protecting those who would sink into the same sin of murder. And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. (Genesis 4:15) We also see something else in verse 15, at this early stage of human history the concept and development of governmental oversight and control are not mentioned. Government was to come later in man’s history, now it was individual responsibility and communal interaction that structured society. It was God threatening to act in vengeance on anyone who would kill Cain. Vengeance is mine saith the Lord. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. (Romans 12:19) To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste. (Deuteronomy 32:35)

Cain a Marked Man

And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. (Genesis 4:15) God set a mark on Cain that made Cain a marked man. Not a mark for retaliation, nor a mark for revenge, but a mark that said, Keep away from this man for he is a murderer, keep away! This mark had to be a visible warning that people (from a distance) would be able to spot this cursed of God. This visible marker had to be not only a physical sign, but it also had to show the inner man. Cain was stamped outwardly and inwardly with the sign of a monster, because he was a monster. He exemplified the devil himself, as the devil was his father. This verse recorded in the gospel of John Chapter 8 clearly connects the devil as a murderer from the beginning with the first act of murder by a human: Cain. The Lord Jesus Christ stated (speaking to the disbelieving Jews of His day) that. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44)

Cain’s Clan Acclaimed

Cain’s monstrous gigantic size not only isolated him from others, but it also protected others from this terror. Again, I suggest that you read about the men of the line of Cain, and the women in the line of Cain on this website. They were a separate culture unto themselves, they were noted for their inventions, for their industrial, agricultural, artistic, and manufacturing skills. (Genesis 4:20-22) These are all good things, however, when it is used to glorify and to perpetuate humanism it becomes a bad thing. Dealing with genetics, probably not all were branded with giantism, but they probably became (over the centuries) men and women of notoriety, and a group of people of almost celebrity status with a visible aura of supremacy because of their gigantesque demeanor. (I think of all the mythologies of titans, and giantess that probably had its basis from God’s Word). How impressive this clan of Cain must have become, this clan of murderers. (Almost as impressive as the celebrity status of our giant global political movers of wealth and power at the end of our age). Interesting that the phrase ‘the titans of industry,’ or the ‘giants of financial markets,’ does not relate to their actual size, but to their immense power over others. Truly, Cain like.

Genesis Chapter 4 lays the groundwork of the Cain clan, and Genesis Chapter 5 develops the line of Seth. Two groups of people . . . not quite . . . we have three groups of people. Now how is this? The line of Cain for centuries developed into a society stamped outwardly of what they were inwardly, distorted and huge objects of aberrant sin, but hidden behind a facade of beauty, wisdom, accomplishments and notoriety status. Let us look at the line of Seth that morphed into the other distinct group that was in complete opposition to Seth and the godly line of Seth. There . . . out of one group developed another group. Thus, we now have three groups: Cain, Seth, and the Opposition Party to Seth and his descendants. (This is a good term for these people because they are always in opposition to God, they can also be called the Party of Resistance because they are continually resisting and fighting the Word of God.) Yes, Cain was also in opposition to Seth, however, I am treating them as a separate people because of the outward mark placed on them by God.

Cain’s clan was the outward expression against God; Seth’s line were the followers of God, and the Opposition Party was the inward hidden evil interbreeding with the line of Seth using women as sexual tools to corrupt the line of the godly. The opposition group consisted of Seth’s brothers and sisters, his relatives: cousins, aunts and uncles, generations of family connections. It worked then, it worked later, and it still works today. If you can’t defeat them, join them and destroy them from the inside. (Politically this has worked, socially this is working, and it has always been a means through which Satan has gained the advantage over blinded souls).

Here we have the summary of these three groupings: the Opposition Party (the world), the line of Seth (the flesh — ourselves), and Cain (the devil). Hear O nations. Here are our enemies: the world, the flesh and the devil.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (1 John 2:16)

And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (1 John 2:17)

The Godly Line No Longer Godly

The line of Seth, however, through the centuries, also changed, but not for the better. The godly line, those who followed God and called on His name became fewer and fewer living among maybe millions of people who no longer followed God, nor called on His name. As the sons and daughters of Adam, Seth, Enos, Cainan, Mahalaleel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech multiplied, and grew over thousands of years of marriage and intermarriage; as the godly line mixed in with the ungodly line there could only be one possible outcome: only one man that is right, only one man was righteous in the eyes of God, Noah. How many cliches do we have about rotten apples in a barrel? There were a lot of rotten apples in Noah’s barrel. It is always evil that contaminates the good.

The corruption of humanity reached its highest peak (or it can also be said, the lowest depth) when the differences within the line of Seth became obliterated by intermarriage. (I know, I know, we have the line of Cain, but I am not talking right now about the line of Cain). First, I want to show you what happens within the same line when sin takes hold. Secondly, I hope to touch on the line of Cain later on in this article. Remember, that the Cain clan was at the beginning a society almost isolated from other members of Cain’s family. And I would like to treat this clan as a separate entity from the line of Seth to allow you to understand why God has the principle of separation. Separation is one of the main principles and guidelines in Genesis, and this principle is always under attack from the world. Genesis Chapters 3, 4, 5 and 6 are very important segments in Bible history with prophetic meaning and application.

The Separation Principle

God has always (from the beginning) emphasized the separation principle. The separation principle is to not only recognize the unclean from the clean, but to act on this by moving away from that which hates God, and all that God is. At every step that mankind takes, Satan has tried to corrupt, infiltrate, destroy and ruin each generation of the ‘godly seed,’ from Adam to Christ, and into the Church age.

And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean; (Leviticus 10:10)

Who can bring a clean [thing] out of an unclean? not one. (Job 14:4)

And they shall teach my people [the difference] between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean. (Ezekiel 44:23)

This is a very difficult subject to teach because of the indoctrination forums that erroneously adhere to Judge not, that ye be not judged. (Matthew 7:1) I do not want to go over the same material again, so I will just set up a link for you to read an old post. It may be old, but it is still very relevant. http://godsfinalcall.com/to-judge-or-not-to-judge-part-i/

Come Out – Touch Not – Depart – Separate

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, (2 Corinthians 6:17)

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2 Corinthians 7:1)

Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD. (Isaiah 52:11)

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, (Leviticus 22:1)

Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me: I am the LORD. (Leviticus 22:2)

Say unto them, Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD. (Leviticus 22:3)

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. (Revelation 18:4)

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20)

Have you found yourself in a group that is unclean: that profanes His holy name, no longer honors His Word, and has moved away from that which is true, and no longer has Christ as the center piece of all their goals? Yes, I understand that your friends, your family, and your social life revolve around a false and empty premise. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you. Christ will be there for you. If any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Christ will be there for you.

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. (John 14:18)

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

[Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (Hebrews 13:5)

I truly understand what your new journey will entail. At first you will feel that you need to be back with what is comfortable for you, you will doubt yourself and your decision to obey the Word of God. You will be talked about, gossiped about, ridiculed and rejected. But Christ will be there for you! You will learn a valuable lesson, an important lesson because you will experience (in a very small way) His rejection. Instead of dwelling on yourself, dig into the Word of God. Read, pray, learn, and prepare to be used of God in a way that you cannot see or understand. He is looking for the empty vessel, He is looking for the broken hearted, He is looking for the rejected, He is looking for those who are preparing their vessel to be used. Since you are reading this, you are probably acquainted with the world of the internet, or as we call it around here, ‘the wire world,’ or ‘the air world.’ There are many good sites you can learn from. There are also sites where you can interact with prayer warriors. Just because you have closed a door, and walked away, do not think that God cannot open avenues to you beyond your wildest dreams. I will begin your prayer list, pray for us and the seven web sites that God has entrusted to us. Just because we have never met do not think that we do not feel the beating of your heart, do not think that we cannot hear the voice of your yearning to please our God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (Ephesians 6:10)

That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; (Ephesians 3:16)

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. (Psalm 23:1)

For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. (Ezekiel 34:11)
