Men of Renown – Part vi – Balaam –

Men of Renown

Part vi

Balaam

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:4) And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Genesis 6:5)

This series called Men of Renown will begin with these verses in Chapter 6 of the book of Genesis because it is the perfect scene setter for whatever and whoever follows that enables men of renown to act in conflict against God and His Word. Genesis 6 verses 4 and 5 are an accurate definition of men of renown.

The phrase ‘men of renown’ occurs in the Bible only two times. The second and last mention can be found in the 4th book of the Pentateuch in the book of Numbers, Chapter 16. This last mention of ‘men of renown’ goes beyond the definition of men of renown and expands what ‘men of renown’ are not only capable of, but what lurks in the inner most recesses of their thoughts.

In order to fully understand this article, I suggest that you do not begin with this article Part vi, but first read Parts i, ii, iii, iv and v. (Of course, let’s pretend that you have done this, and having followed my suggestion just continue to scroll down . . . I will never know!)

Introduction to Balaam

Since the definition of ‘men of renown’ is in Genesis Chapter 6, that is where I have decided to begin with all the articles concerning ‘men of renown.’ It may seem odd that this article begins with the verses in Genesis Chapter 6, verses 4 and 5 because although the man called Balaam is predominately in the book of Numbers, the fourth book in the Pentateuch, in Chapters 22, 23, 24, and 31, he is also mentioned in Deuteronomy chapter 23, and in the books of Joshua Chapter 24, Nehemiah, and Micah; nevertheless, Genesis is the proper place to begin these articles on ‘men of renown.’

Balaam is recorded sixty times in fifty-six verses in the Old Testament, and three times in the New Testament for a total of sixty-three mentions. Although he is grouped together with Cain and Korah in the book of Jude, Balaam is mentioned in more scriptures than Cain and Korah combined. Must be a reason why the Holy Spirit wants us to focus on this individual.

Here we are at the end of the Age of Man, and Balaam is still with us. Who was Balaam? Who is Balaam? And why is Balaam mentioned in the last book of the Bible in the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ? The three corrupt religious enemies of God are mentioned in the book of Jude for a particular purpose. (Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. Jude 1:11). The book of Jude is an epilogue that eloquently expresses the complex battle between good and evil in a profoundly simplistic manner in only twenty-five verses drawn from both the New and Old Testaments that precedes Jude. As Jude closes sixty-four books, it is also a powerful prelude to the sixty-sixth book where the battle between good and evil, the conflict between God and Satan, and the war between man and man will be no more through the vast power of a Sovereign Creator, and a Holy and Righteous God. While the book of Jude reveals the failure of the time frame of mankind in his lost estate, it prepares the reader to understand a new glorious and divine estate prepared by God for His elect, where both Jew and Gentile will be accepted in an eternal state.

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:26)  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (Galatians 3:27) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28) And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Galatians 3:29)

And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: (Colossians 3:10) Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. (Colossians 3:11)

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. (Revelation 21:5)

It is here in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ in Chapter 2, verse 14 where the Spirit of God records the last mention of our man of renown . . . Balaam.  But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

Balaam represents ecclesiastical corruption. At the end of the Age of Man, mankind (as a whole) has been willingly victimized and betrayed by so- called ‘church leaders, people of the clothe, spiritual thinkers, religious visionaries, pastors, priests, popes, and religious camp followers.’

The religious community of professing churchites (notice that I did not write ‘Christians’ but I wrote ‘churchites’) are really not victims of religious fraud, but they love their religions, they love their buildings, they love their smiling soft spoken charlatans, they love their rituals swathed in robes of rich colors, they love their politically correct social gospels, they love their costly sound systems and stagecraft, they love their easy to read and misinterpretations called Bibles, they love it all. They love to be ruled over, they love to hear lies that soothes their need to self-worship and to appear good and righteous among their fellows. In order to corrupt successfully, a corrupter must have willing hearts eager to be corrupted.

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love [to have it] so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?  (Jeremiah 5:31)

(Jeremiah 14:14; 23:25-26; Ezekiel 13:6; Micah 2:11)

Although Balaam represents ecclesiastical corruption, he would never have been able to corrupt in the past, or in the present if he did not have those eager to be accepted into a fraternity of undefined religiousness. I will again repeat that Christianity is not religion. As I have written many times before, RELIGION is not Christianity, religion has nothing to do with being a Christian. Christianity is a REVELATION and a RELATIONSHIP, not a religion. (This is a very difficult concept for many to comprehend.) Christianity is not centered around Place-worship. It is centered around Person-worship: the Person of Jesus Christ.

Many Balaam’s of our age have been very successful. They have intertwined truth with lies. They have changed the message and meaning of the gospel. They have brought into Christianity another gospel, and another spirit so that the true gospel and the Spirit of Christ is now thought to be (by the manipulated masses) a message of confusion through unity, and hatred through love.

For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or [if] ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with [him].  (2nd Corinthians 11:4)

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: (Galatians 1:6)

The Origin of Balaam

The meaning of Balaam’s name is the perfect description of his character and personality. It also lays the foundation of how his advise to Israel’s enemies also centuries later formed a doctrine that enabled the Church’s enemy to overthrow the Church itself. In the same manner that Israel was overcome so also centuries later the church was also overthrown by its enemies.

Balaam’s name means ‘swallower of the people’ and ‘confounding the people.’ There is also another primitive root of the name of Balaam that should not be forgotten: ‘not of the people,’ and/or ‘foreigner.’

Balaam was a prophet from Mesopotamia. The very first mention of Balaam is in Numbers 22:5. The simplified version of the back story is that when Israel (under the leadership of Moses) attempted to reach the land of God’s promise, they first had to cross through the territories of Edom and Moab. This link may be additional reading, but it lays out in more detail what actually occurred after Israel was denied their request to cross through lands that blocked their path to their destination. They not only requested to cross lands   owned by Ammon, Moab and Edom, but Israel also offered to pay not only for food (that they would consume in their travels) but also for any damages as well.

And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho. (Numbers 22:1) And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. (Numbers 22:2)

And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel. (Numbers 22:3)

And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. (Numbers 22:4)

He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me: (Numbers 22:5)

Beor means ‘a burning,’ as a lamp or as a light. In its primitive meaning it also has the concept of ‘to cause’ to burn. I see this as an incendiary action: to inflame in action, or in words. Beor was not only the father of Balaam (the prophet), but he was also the father of an Edomite king named Bela. And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom: and the name of his city [was] Dinhabah. (Genesis 36:32) The meaning of the name Bela is ‘swallowing.’ (1st Chronicles 1:43) Beor must have been a powerful influence on his sons for one became a king that swallowed by land and territory, and the other became a prophet who was swallowed by gold and silver by becoming a profiteering prophet. However, this bloodline of Beor that ruled over Edom (Bela the king) and over Midian (Balaam the prophet) originated in Pethor. This was a place, a location in Mesopotamia.

An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever: (Deuteronomy 23:3) Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee. (Deuteronomy 23:4)

Returning to the first mention of the name of Balaam in Numbers 22:5, God the Holy Spirit has dropped many breadcrumbs for us to gather. We not only have the name of Balaam’s father (Beor), but we also have the area (Pethor) and the description of Mesopotamia in the river of the land of the children of his people. Mesopotamia is also known as ‘the land between two rivers.’ The two rivers are the Tigris and the Euphrates. This is where I need to stop because to go further with the territory of Mesopotamia and the rivers of the Tigris and the Euphrates would lead me away from our central evil figure of Balaam.

He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me: (Numbers 22:5)

I think that the background, and origin of Balaam that has been presented is enough ground work to further build this article on. (Although I am greatly tempted to bite into Mesopotamia, however, maybe a link to a previous article may aid you in your studies.) CLICK HERE.

The roots of Balaam were buried deep within the paganism of Mesopotamia, in Babylon, in Babel, and in Shinar. This area has many descriptive names, but it is one area, one territory and one region. Shinar was/is a plain, Babel was/is a city, and Babylon was the capitol city of the Babylonian state-kingdom in the land situated between two rivers. Mesopotamia not only is referred to as all of these names, but it is also referenced in a wider area of territory that extended into Syria and into other land conquests later by the Medes and Persians. The moral or the immorality of this is that evil and corruption spreads and gains more ground in time as more and more is overcome with evil. Today’s evil is greater then yesterday’s evil, and tomorrow’s evil will be greater still. Evil is never static, it is always progressing. Maybe that is why corrupt government leaders call themselves progressives.

An interesting bit of trivia (although there is nothing trivial in or about scripture). This phrase Balaam the son of Beor is recorded six (6) times in the Old Testament. The number six, as I have mentioned scores of time, is the number of man in his sin, his self-will, his pride and in his vanity. The number six is stamped onto mankind as a tatoo, man cannot rid himself of this number that is one digit away from the perfection of God in the number seven, and one digit away from the number of grace in the number 5. So close to being as gods, but close is not good enough. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. (Genesis 3:5) The point of this connection between Balaam and his father by the Holy Spirit of God is to draw our attention to the many ways that Satan is able to influence and control those under his sway. Within every individual there is the D.N.A. of sin, or the inherent sin nature of all of mankind. Then surrounding sinful mankind, we have other evil influences: for instance, parental influences or lack of parental influences.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:4)

Children are trained to reverence the knowledge of God or either to dismiss the knowledge of God. I am not writing about salvation here, but the training of a child in the things of God, or in the things of self. Most of us are fully aware of the tragic situation of children without parents even while having a parent, or without guidance, and without a true and stable existence. How can sinful men and women care for their own blood when they care only for their own selves? The Marxist/communist doctrine of child indoctrination is built on the truth of Proverbs 22:6. Notice, these numbers: 2 – 2 and 6. Here is the double witness to mankind, or I could say, the double warning to mankind that training children in the things of God or in the things of self is at the heart of man’s ability to survive.

Balaam the son of Beor stands out as a signpost that Balaam had been swallowed up by the evil unrighteousness of his father at a very young age. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Train a child to lust after money, and the child will become a political Balaam. Train up a child to sell his soul, and the child will become a news reporter and journalistic Balaam. Train up a child to twist words and meanings, and the child will become a judicial Balaam. Train up a child to use the pulpit as an occupation and means to acquire wealth, and the child will become a corrupt religious Balaam.

Beor trained his children to burn with the same yearning that his name indicated, a deep insatiable passion to control and to have power over people (as his son Bela, the king) and (his son Balaam, the prophet).

There is one more point that I wish to tackle. It is in the name of Pethor. He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me: (Numbers 22:5) The name Pethor is only mentioned twice in the Bible, and both are connected to Balaam and Beor. Repetition is a good thing, especially if you’re like me, and need the extra reinforcement.

He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which [is] by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me: (Numbers 22:5)

Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee. (Deuteronomy 23:4)

Pethor was a city in Mesopotamia. Its meaning is quite significantly connected to the region. Remember that the tower of Babel was in the land of Shinar, (today it is the Iraq/Iran area). Pethor means ‘to interpret.’ Pethor was the city of Balaam and his father Beor. They not only lived in the city of Interpret, but Balaam was an interpreter in the practice of foretelling future events, or divination. Numbers 22:7 informs us the men who Balak sent to seek out Balaam’s co-operation in Balak’s plan to curse Israel had the rewards of divination in their hand. Those who are employed with the things of the so-called ‘divine’ (and divination is one of these occupations of soothsaying) always seek a form of payment or reward.

Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed. (Numbers 22:6) And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak. (Numbers 22:7)

Let us travel back into history in the land of Mesopotamia, or the land of Shinar. The land of the origin of Balaam and his father. What we know as the tower of Babel was in the plain of Shinar.

And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. (Genesis 11:1)

And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. (Genesis 11:2)

And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. (Genesis 11:3)

And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. (Genesis 11:4)

It was in this plain in the land of Shinar that God destroyed a confederacy based on the first unification of man to act against God. This first mention of this united league against God’s authority in Genesis Chapter 11 was not the end nor the only alliance to act against God through time. This unified coalition comes to its fruition in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ when the world (religious, economic, technological and military) forces join together to overthrow all vestiges of God and of His Christ.

Side Note: The mask mandates and the manipulated so-called settled scientific reasons for masks is a tower of Babel. The gods of technology, religion, economics, education, military, and corporate powers are practicing their unification techniques by coercive measures in order to solidify their control over the people. Masks are just another step closer to the Mark. Acceptance of the former will make it easier to accept the latter.

Side Note of a Side Note: There is no such thing as ‘settled science.’ True science is never settled because within its very understanding of what science is there is always more that can be explored, more unrevealed knowledge that is still yet unexplored and unknown. If science could declare it is ‘settled’ then there would be no need for further exploration, nor even a need for scientists. Whatever is already known (such as gravity) is really only a building block to further understanding. I believe that you would never hear the words ‘settled science’ from a real scientist because those words work against job security. Another point is that a true hearted scientist never ‘settles,’ but also seeks to go beyond the known.

God destroyed Babel through languages. A people or nation that cannot unite cannot fight. This last confederacy revealed in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ unwittingly self destructs when they give up all their power to one authority: the Beast. In their fruitless zeal in refusing the Sovereign Authority of God they pass their control of this planet over to one person: the mad Beast. Believing that they have finally united in oneness, the giants of power will not realize that they have no power, no authority, and absolutely no control, but ALL have been made slaves to the madness of the Beast because all have been made one and united together in madness itself.

This [is] an evil among all [things] that are done under the sun, that [there is] one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness [is] in their heart while they live, and after that [they go] to the dead. (Ecclesiastes 9:3)

The beginning of the words of his mouth [is] foolishness: and the end of his talk [is] mischievous madness. (Ecclesiastes 10:13)

And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them. (Jeremiah 25:16)

A drought [is] upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it [is] the land of graven images,  and they are mad upon [their] idols. (Jeremiah 50:38)

Babylon [hath been] a golden cup in the LORD’S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad. (Jeremiah 51:7)

The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know [it]: the prophet [is] a fool, the spiritual man [is] mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred. (Hosea 9:7)

When God confounded the people with languages, they must have displayed a madness of confusion. God will destroy Babylon the Great, the nations, the Beast, his prophet, and the Dragon (Satan) with a madness of hatred and confusion. Binary language has united the world into one language and one Babylonian cult: materialism. Nevertheless, the 0’s and 1’s will no longer serve as a language of communication because mankind spiritually, intellectually, and physically will fall into an abyss of insanity. The Age of the Beast will be The Age of Insanity.

From Adam (the progenitor of mankind who was God’s prime creation created in the image of God ) to the end of mankind in the image of a Beast has only taken place over short period of time of six thousand years. How far has man fallen? From Adam who was God’s prime creation, man (in Adam) was very special, one of a kind, uniquely created for a uniquely created environment to sustain a creature able to walk with, talk with, and communicate with The God of the Universe. I would say that this man (Adam) was not a common man at his creation. Adam was highly intelligent, able to categorize the animal kingdom, to reason at the ultimate level, and he could love another creature outside of his own existence. Adam (at creation) WAS as an ‘uncommon man,’ but he became a ‘common man’ when he willingly and unhesitatingly rebelled against his Creator, and erroneously believed that ye shall be as gods encouraged by the lying words, Ye shall not surely die.

Mankind has not evolved into a finer specimen of humanity (and since there is no such thing as the evolution of the human species) it can only be said that mankind has not regressed, but has been consumed by their own evil imaginations beyond all recognition of anything connected to humanity; consequently, lusting to be as gods, mankind has become as beasts. Yes. The mighty has fallen, and has yet to fall even further into madness.

Let us attempt to understand one of the many avenues that Satan builds in his plan to bring down God’s creation and His creatures. (Deuteronomy 23:4) Pethor is the place of interpretation. Quite fitting, don‘t you think that the Holy Spirit of God does not want us to miss this connection of ‘interpretation’ and Mesopotamia. When God confounded the people with many languages, at the place of the tower of Babel, there must have been a great need for people to communicate with each other; thus, a dire need for interpreters. For those who remained in Shinar, the need for interpreters must have become a very lucrative occupation. Follow the money. Interpretation, ‘Pethor’ the home of Balaam and his family connects to the past (Shinar, the tower of Babel) with the present (the age of Balaam in the early age of the nation of Israel) and the future (the age of the church and into the age of the madness of the Beast). The devil prepared his ‘interpreter’ Balaam to overcome Israel, and God’s adversary (Satan) prepared his ‘interpreters’ in the age of the church in his attempt to overthrow the Word of God through many interpretations of the Word of God. However, as sin is progressive, so also is the plan of false interpretations not only of the written Word of God, but also through his ‘ministers of righteousness.’

And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. (2nd Corinthians 11:14) Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. (2nd Corinthians 11:15)

Balaam’s Plan Then and Now

Balaam advised Balak on how he could overcome Israel through infiltration. Many battles have been fought and wars won through infiltration. This is a weapon of war that we (the citizens of the United States) should be very familiar with (although there are far too many minds that cannot accept the reality of what occurred during our last election was a coup d’état of immense depth originated decades previously by an infiltration of Marxists/Communists into all government agencies, educational institutions, news agencies, and religious seminaries and churches). Infiltrate and destroy from within is one of Satan’s highly successful programs: the Balaam doctrine, or the Balaam Strategy. Even popular religious leaders, such as the current Pope is one spokesman for the doctrine of Balaamism. (I think that I just made up a new word.) The importance of Balaamism is that it is subtle, so subtle that it can take years to overtake its target and the target remains calm, and seemingly unaffected, until it ceases to be a target and instead it is completely given over to its conqueror and joins with its conqueror in overcoming others.

There has been more damage done to Christianity from the infiltrators in the pulpits then any other form of weapon. Remember, one of the first things that the enemy does is to take away weapons. Remove the Bible from the hands of the people, and place in their hands weapons of no consequence, and then replace it with a ‘daily devotional’ or maybe something sweet and soothing. (Now, do not come unglued because I wrote against a ‘daily devotional.’) When a ‘daily devotional’ replaces a ‘true daily devotional’ called THE BIBLE, then I am correct in writing against any replacement of Bible reading. Consider this: everything anyone needs is ALL in the BIBLE. Do I read writings other than the Bible? Yes, I do. However, research is one thing, devotionals is another, and most of my research is in my Bible, and my Bible offers me ALL that I need. Be cautiously aware of your time, do not let anything rob you from time spent in the pages of the Word of God, I speak from experience. Do not substitute your Bible reading with Devotional reading.

We have followed the origin and roots of Balaam, now let us explore further into the messages within Numbers Chapters 22, 23, and 24. There is not only one message within these three Chapters, but there is a wealth of information within these three Chapters. You will miss a great deal through a cursory reading of these three Chapters. I pray that God the Holy Spirit will lead us through these chapters in an orderly manner to bring out what He what us to take in.

The Voices

The first voice of importance that we read of is the voice of Balak.

And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho. (Numbers 22:1)

And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.

Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed. (Numbers 22:6)

The voice of Balak is one of hatred for the people of God’s choosing: Israel. Haters of Israel have always fervently searched for ways to remove them from their land, from the land that God promised to them, and gave to them. Balak wasn’t the first person to speak of his desire to annihilate all traces of God’s people. Newspapers, news manipulators, and every form of communication spews out the same hideous message of antisemitism today. As Balaamism has infiltrated into our age, so Balakism is the character of our age.

The name of Balak means ‘to waste’ or ‘to annihilate.’ Balak is recorded as Balak the son of Zippor, interestingly, the name of Zippor has the meaning of ‘tripping about’ as a bird or a fowl. I have watched hens trip about, going quickly from one spot to the next without rhyme or reason. They scamper briskly turning this way and that way, turning from the food in front of them as they spy a bit of morsel to their right, and off they go: without rhyme nor reason. In this meaning of the name of Zippor we see a natural reflex as an uncontrollable reaction in the instability of mankind. This unstable man (Zippor) is the father of ‘Waster’ or ‘Annihilator.’ These two men (Balak and Zippor) are both synonymous to our contemporary age of instability and hatred directed against all that is seemingly of God.

Rather then to seek some kind of communication with the leaders of this vast  group of people (Israel) moving towards them, Balak seeks to purchase the aid of an ‘interpreter’ or a soothsayer prophet from the east.

And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.  (Numbers 22:7)

And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.  (Numbers 22:8)

And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee? And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying,  (Numbers 22:10)

Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.  (Numbers 22:11)

And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.  (Numbers 22:12)

Can you hear the tone in the voice of Balaam? He was the authority, the gateway to God’s wishes: he did not hesitate to inform these men that God would speak to him. He did not say, ‘maybe’ God will speak, or ‘let me pray to God that He will speak,’ or ‘let me seek the will of God,’ but no, Balaam said, I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me. Why would God even speak to this man? Did not God know who he was? Of course GOD KNOWS ALL THINGS. Notice the question that God puts before Balaam. What men are these with thee? The lesson for all: know your enemy. Recognize the messengers of Satan. However, these men were not the enemies of Balaam, but they represented a potential paying customer. Then God spoke clearly. Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.

For us in our present day, the message still resonates with the truth within these words: Thou shalt not go with them. Do not associate, or follow those who desire to curse the people of God, thou shalt not curse the people, because God has blessed them for they are blessed. The two points in this reply to Balaam sets what occurs later in the future of Balaam and in the future of the adversaries of Israel, and also to Israel itself. Everything that follows in Chapters 22, 23, and 24 is founded on this verse. And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed. (Numbers 22:12)

There is the Thou shalt not go, and again, thou shalt not curse, and then the point that mankind rebels against, for they are blessed. The voice of God commands, and He speaks, yet, mankind hears Him not. His voice speaks in power and in truth; yet, man believes Him not. Read further how Balaam rationalizes God’s word. Read how Balak refused to hear that God’s people should not be cursed. Read how God has blessed His people, and mankind and all of Satan’s ministers of righteousness cannot overthrow or overturn God’s blessings, nor God’s Word.
