Men of Renown
Part xvii
Nimrod
Shinar his land
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:4) And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Genesis 6:5)
This series called Men of Renown will begin with these verses in Chapter 6 of the book of Genesis because it is the perfect scene setter for whatever and whoever follows that enables men of renown to act in conflict against God and His Word. Genesis 6 verses 4 and 5 are an accurate definition of men of renown.
The phrase ‘men of renown’ occurs in the Bible only two times. The second and last mention can be found in the 4th book of the Pentateuch in the book of Numbers, Chapter 16. This last mention of ‘men of renown’ goes beyond the definition of men of renown and expands what ‘men of renown’ are not only capable of, but what lurks in the inner most recesses of their thoughts.

Shinar
The Land of Babylon
Babel, Shinar and Babylon all mean confusion. Although Babel, Babylon, and Shinar all have the same meaning, within each name there is a root of a specific form of confusion. There is the confusion of languages (Babel), there is the confusion of the mixing and intermingling of peoples (Shinar), and there is mental, physical and spiritual confusion (Babylon) at its completeness of madness. Each name typifies a distinctive area of confusion: verbal/communication, physical, emotional and spiritual. Babylon symbolizes mankind overcome by his own will. A will centered around sin; sin so intractably vile that man can no longer reason outside the parameters of his own fantasies; unfettered sin is madness unrestrained.
The name of Shinar is mentioned seven (7) times:
The fullness of confusion.
♦
in the land of Shinar
The first time that we read of Shinar is in Genesis 10:10. And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. The second time is in Genesis 11:2, And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. This introduction to Shinar is particularly attached to the land. Although the word Shinar is mentioned seven (7) times in Scripture, it is connected to the land of Shinar three (3) times: Genesis 10:10; Genesis 11:2; and the last mention in Zechariah 5:11, as in the land of Shinar. This is not a minor point, nor is it trivial. God is very precise with His words. He loves details because He created the details. The last mention of Shinar introduces the reader to the climax or to The End Times of our world as we know it. Therefore, God the Holy Spirit desires that we should be assured that the land of Shinar of Zechariah 5:11 is the same as the land of Shinar of Genesis 10:10 and Genesis 11:2. Knowing that three (3) is the number of the Godhead and the works of the Godhead, why then would this number (3) be connected to in the land of Shinar? Prayerfully, God the Holy Spirit will lead us to understand this connection as we delve further into the land of Shinar (Daniel 1:2).
♦
Amraphel king of Shinar
The third and fourth mention of Shinar is Chapter 14 of the book of Genesis in verse 1 and in verse 9. Again we have another ‘coincidence’ with a number sequence. ‘Coincidentally,’ the first mention of Babel and its unification is in verses 1 through 9 in the 11th Chapter of Genesis.
And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations; (Genesis 14:1)
With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five. (Genesis 14:9)
(I suggest that you click on the attached link. You would gain much by reading these articles.) This FIRST LINK is about Amraphel-Arioch-Chedorlaomer and Tidal. This SECOND LINK also connects to these kings and the first recorded battle on this planet. Christianity is not a religion. Christianity is a personal relationship, and a revelation from God.Â
The phrase Amraphel king of Shinar occurs only twice in the Bible. Although Nimrod was a king, a ruler, and the builder of Shinar, the Holy Spirit of God saved the title of king for Amraphel. This is the only person named as king of Shinar. Amraphel means ‘Keeper of the gods.‘ Since Babel means ‘The Gate of God,’ or ‘The Gate of the Gods,’ and ‘Confusion,’ it is only fitting that every gate must have a gate keeper, and when there are many gates and many keepers to these gates confusion is the result, this is what religion presents to mankind. Religion (contrary to Christianity) indoctrinates and implants the lie that there is another way or many gates into the presence of God. Christianity is not a religion. Christianity is a personal relationship, and a revelation from God.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. (John 10:9)
Many religions means many gate keepers, many doors, and much confusion. The gate keeper decides who gets through the gate, and who is refused entrance. Priests of EVERY religion are gate keepers. This position is almost as profitable as the gate keepers of politics and economic power.
As Nimrod was a mighty hunter of the souls of man, Amraphel was designated as the one who kept the ideals and foundation that were first laid down by Nimrod. Amraphel, the KEEPER, may have added to his position of king the office and power of priest. It is not enough to be a ruler. It is not enough to have political power over others, but the heart within the followers of Satan desire to have power and control over the souls of man. This was the heart of Nimrod, the mighty hunter of the souls of man. Through Amraphel, king of Shinar, we have the growth and development of sin and confusion through military conquest and power. This king of Shinar in the days of Abraham is a blip on the past spiritual radar screen revealing what the last king of Shinar will be like.
The future king of Shinar is also known as 6 – 6 – 6, the Antichrist, and the man of sin. He will be a person with a military mind set. (Daniel 11:38). Seeking worship, his twisted obsession will drive him to set his religious center in Jerusalem. (Daniel 11:45) Amraphel was another symbolic type of the Antichrist as king and priest over the land of Shinar. We will learn more about the last king of Shinar to come or Babylon to come in the following articles. (Maybe Babylon is already here, at least we are seeing the foundation of Babylon being constructed through the One World Government forced on the peoples of the world TODAY through their insane global policies: global warming (or is it today called global cooling?), global trade currencies, digital currency (a means to buy and sell controlled by imagination because it is outside of everyone’s sight — you will not be able to see this currency, or touch it, or feel it, and its value will change second by second depending on your obedience and compliance to the dictates of insane rulers; contrived social chaos, preplanned energy crisis, an engineered food crisis, and more plandemics are forecast for tomorrow, and the morrow after the morrow. All of this has been maliciously designed to enslave mankind. A One World Government will be (sorry . . . . I should have written . . . . ‘IS’ instead of ‘will be’) . . . a One World Government IS upon us NOW. This One World Government is the brain child of Satan. Babel was his first attempt in the new world of a one world government in the land of Shinar. (When Satan was forced from his place of authority and oversight as the hovering cherub over the mercy seat, he could not accept defeat, he could not go gently into the darkness of night, but he raged with such hatred against ALL that God had created. His goal has been to not only conquer God’s created race of man, but to shatter man’s earthly world, and to cause havoc in the spiritual world. Therefore, his ministers and agents of anarchy have, through the history of mankind, followed his battle plan; consequently we are at the end of the consummation of his plan: one world under one ruler under one point of worship.
The following references in the 28th Chapter of the book of Ezekiel, verses 13 – 18 opens the blinds of the unseen realm so that we would be blind no longer to the events BEFORE the beginning of time. Much is, of course, beyond our understanding, but the foundation of sin and rebellion in this unseen realm is very clear. Lucifer’s position, his environment, his creation, his official rank and status in God’s heavenly kingdom, and his beauty corrupted him to the point of utter ashes. Remember that angels cannot die, nevertheless, God prepared a place specifically for Lucifer and for the rogue rebellious angels who followed. His self-annihilation became determined by his egotism . . . . therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. The position as the anointed cherub that covereth. . . . covering cherub . . . . thy sanctuaries . . . tied Lucifer to the Throne Room in the heavenly realm.
Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. (Ezekiel 28:13)
Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. (Ezekiel 28:14)
Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. (Ezekiel 28:15)
By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. (Ezekiel 28:16)
Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. (Ezekiel 28:17)
Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. (Ezekiel 28:18)
Many never think that the element of worship is somehow connected to Lucifer, but WORSHIP is Satan’s particular forte. His obsessive-compulsiveness around his lust of worship will never be satisfied, thus, every second is his constant hell. WORSHIP is Satan’s strength and his weakness. And because he is experienced in manipulation and mental and spiritual fabrication in worship he has been extremely successful in what is known as RELIGION.
Side Note: Wisdom and Intellect. There are many forms of worship: the atheist does not believe in God or that there is a god; the agnostic believes that the reality of a god or God is unknowable. The atheist worships his wisdom, and the agnostic worships his intellect. There is a massive distinction between wisdom and intellect. This distinction is not only in the difference of the meaning of these words, but the main difference is in WHO defines these two words: God’s definition is opposite man’s definition. Man defines intellect as a number on an I.Q. scale, and he views wisdom as the active accumulation of worldly experience and observation. However, from God’s side or point of view, intellect is understanding the holiness of God, and to discern and reject evil is the evidence of understanding. And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that [is] wisdom; and to depart from evil [is] understanding. (Job 28:28) But where shall wisdom be found? and where [is] the place of understanding? (Job 28:12) Our race of MANKIND has slowly and also quickly crumbled (depending on where you stand in the framework of time). The heart, mind, soul and spirit is as a cobweb, rarely does anyone think about what constitutes their being until they become trapped in a cobweb of sin and despair. Wisdom and understanding should be the first thing that everyone should desire from God. Yet, man (outside of God) cannot see the blessings and goodness of God when God bestows wisdom and knowledge.
Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great? (2nd Chronicles 1:10)
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:Â (2nd Chronicles 1:11
Solomon asked for wisdom and knowledge because without God’s wisdom and God’s knowledge man cannot freely exist in a world surrounded by unsoundness of soul and evil imaginations of minds and hearts. The peoples of this world lack the spiritual capability to comprehend the importance of the wisdom and knowledge of God because they lack the Spirit of God within.
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. (1st Corinthians 2:16)To have the mind of Christ is to have the knowledge of the holy, and to have the knowledge of the holy is to have understanding, and the beginning of wisdom is to fear GOD. The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy [is] understanding. (Proverbs 9:10) How did we get here? Oh . . . . Yup, I remember now, we got here from Satan’s domain in confusing man to accept their concept of intellect and wisdom as something that man alone can determine, refusing to admit that it is God who determines the measure of wisdom, understanding, knowledge and all manner of workmanship. Bezaleel was filled with the spirit of God with the measure of God’s blessings as documented in Chapter 31 of the book of Exodus. And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship. It is God who is the Giver of all good things: For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth [cometh] knowledge and understanding. (Proverbs 2:6) And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, [even] in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. (1st John 5:20) ♦ END OF SIDE NOTE.
Mankind has an innate desire to worship; thus, by rejecting God, man directs worship inward to himself. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. (1st Corinthians 3:19) Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. (Ephesians 2:3)
Human nature is drawn (as moths to flame) to some form of worship. Are you so blind that you cannot see this hunger for self-directed worship in Popes, priests, pastors, imams, mullahs, and monks? Wherever there is an established organization of priests, their purpose and function are to act in the place of their followers as mediators. All religious collectives eagerly pass their responsibilities onto their designated so-called spiritual superiors; thus, creating a false spiritual caste system of layman and professionals; however, according to the New Testament Scriptures there is no such caste system in Christianity. This is one of the many errors that has been swallowed as truth that accepted worship by God is the right of only certain certified trained individuals. This error was perpetrated by the Nicolaitans in the early formation of the infant church by taking the Old Testament priesthood that was only given to Israel through Aaron, the first high priest, and melding it into new form of hierarchical order not based on the laws of God. This is why in Revelation 2:9 we have the words the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but [are] the synagogue of Satan. I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and [I know] (Revelation 2:9) And again in Revelation 3:9 we read, Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. This error occurred not because the early church ‘fathers’ did not comprehend the difference between ‘old bottles’ and ‘new bottles’ or the difference between Law and grace, or the difference between the first covenant and the new covenant. They knew, nevertheless, these Nicolaitans were following their father, the devil, and very gradually, and slowly they kidnaped everything that was for Israel and made it their own with a few embellishments. The blessings for Israel became their blessings, but they allowed the judgments against Israel to remain Israel’s alone. Follow the sequence of the following references.
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. (John 4:21) Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. (John 4:22) But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. (John 4:23) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24)
Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. (Hebrews 9:1)
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;Â (Hebrews 9:11)
And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. (Hebrews 9:15)
Worship must never be allowed to be thought of as an inheritance by God. Worship must never become open to those who claim to be born of the Spirit of God. Worship must be controlled and contained by the dictates of approved gate keepers. (The previous two sentences are satirical, just in case they may be taken out of context.) Therefore, the result of such foolishness is that gate keepers are worshiped. This was one of the doctrines of the Nicolaitans in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ in Chapters 2 and 3. Although mankind is drawn to worship, they prefer a system that allows them to pay someone else to do worship for them.
The words of John the Baptist should constantly be before ALL worshipers of God. He must increase, but I must decrease. (John 3:30) (Even in the number of the address location of these words displays God’s preeminence in ALL things — 3:30. Godhead (3) and God’s (3) COMPLETENESS (10) in His perfect order — 30.) This is the place of a servant (priest) of God . . . . to present God in His Perfection to others. ALL children of God are ALL sons of God, and ALL sons of God are ALL servants of God, and ALL servants of God are ALL priests of God. This is our inheritance as newborn babes in Christ: we are children, we are sons, we are servants, and we are ALL priests. Christians have allowed their inheritance to be stripped away. Religionists are deeply protective of ‘job security’ for their priests. Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. (1st Peter 2:5) But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: (1st Peter 2:9)
I find it almost incomprehensible how easily people turn over their rights to others. Our country has been stolen because of voter fraud, our medical rights have been removed because vicious news agencies have lied about a plandemic, our minds have been programmed to accept whatever our screens show us without any reasoning whatsoever. And as sons of God we have fallen asleep holding the wheel within a wheel, and we have encouraged unregenerate individuals to drive for us, think for us, reason for us, read for us, speak for us, spiritually act for us, and worship for us. Laodicea on steroids. And all we have to do to keep these gate keepers doing for us is to keep paying them to keep doing for us.
All of this because one rogue angel by the name of Lucifer desired to be worshiped. Worship was the cause, and the failure of Lucifer. Worship . . . to be as god . . . and ye shall be as gods (Genesis 3:5) this is man’s desire because it is Satan’s desire. Worship is what Satan yearns for, he more than yearns, he agonizes and obsesses over his need to be worshiped. It isn’t power, it isn’t fame, it isn’t greed, it is WORSHIP.
Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. (Matthew 4:7)
Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; (Matthew 4:8)
And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. (Matthew 4:9)
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. (Matthew 4:10)
Satan through his ministers, his secret agents, moved into the church arena at the very first church (Ephesus), and even before the Age of the Church, corrupting and dividing the children of God from the word of God. One goal was to remove by substitution the Spirit of God from the collective group. Another battle plan was to remove the written word of God from the hands of the children of God and substitute other works as the word of God. Goal after goal was successfully accomplished through Satan’s secret agents within. One of the greatest substitutions was to remove the inheritance of the sons of God and to pass that inheritance over to professional religionists in the form of a hierarchical priesthood based on the Old Testament priesthood, but not according to Old Testament laws and directives by God. (This is a massive study dealing with changing Old Testament ordinances, feasts, and worship into a new structure designed not by God, but by the keepers of the door and creating an entirely new religion around the authority and control of the basest of men and labeling them ‘priests.’ And not only mislabeling ‘priests,’ but also hiding this new religion, and deceptively calling it Christianity was a stroke of genius by the evil angel Lucifer. I have previously written bits about this substitution in other articles, and I will try to link some for you, however, but for now this religious substitution study will not come in this article).
We cannot move onto the fifth mention of Shinar until we look further into the 14th Chapter of Genesis where the third and fourth documentation of Shinar are tied to Amraphel king of Shinar. Genesis Chapter 14 is prophecy written on the curtains of time. The first war, the first universal conflict recorded in Scripture is in this Chapter. The first appearance of Melchizedek king of Salem, and King of righteousness is in this Chapter. (Compare Hebrews 7:1 and 2). The first time that the word Hebrew is recorded and connected to Abraham is in this Chapter. The first time that the phrase king’s dale is documented is in this Chapter. The first time that we read these words bread and wine is in this Chapter. The first time that we see the office of priest is in this Chapter as it is tied to the most high God. The first time that God presents His title as the most high God is in this Chapter, not once, but four times He is called the most high God. (Genesis 14:18, 19, 20, 22) Added to all of this there are also some spiritual concepts mentioned for the first time: for instance, the king of Sodom as a type of Satan; the king of Sodom desired the souls of men above material goods. And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. (Genesis 14:21) The high priest of the most high God revealing Himself in the breaking of bread. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. (Genesis 14:18) The last verse (verse 24) in Genesis 14 disclosed that the Gentiles shared in the rewards of battle through Abraham. Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in [their] arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon [their] shoulders. (Isaiah 49:22)
And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. (Isaiah 60:3)
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. (Romans 9:30)
And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. (Romans 15:10)
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (Galatians 3:14)
That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:Â (Ephesians 3:6)
♦
to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left . . . from Shinar
And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. (Isaiah 11:11)
Chapter 11 of the book of Isaiah is prophecy fulfilled, and prophecy to yet be fulfilled. It can also be considered the next installment of Genesis Chapter 14 in type and symbol of the last earth battle between the joint forces of a global military force united against God and His people. So, having viewed the ‘trailer’ of this last united battle in Genesis Chapter 14, we press onto the next installment presented to us by the Holy Spirit of God through the pen of the ready writer, Isaiah. A mere sixteen verses when time dissolves into eternity, and every nation and adversary of God is cut off, as the Prince of peace brings peace, rest and righteousness to an earth filled with the knowledge of God. We, as readers, are allowed to experience a supernatural realm that culminates in VICTORY. (I do wish that I could add an audio from the composer Gustav Holst from his seven-movement suite called The Planets at this point. For those of you who are familiar with this classical piece . . . . keep it in mind as you read Chapter 11 of the book of Isaiah).
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:Â (Isaiah 11:1)
And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;Â (Isaiah 11:2)
And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: (Isaiah 11:3)
But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. (Isaiah 11:4)
And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. (Isaiah 11:5)
The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. (Isaiah 11:6)
And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. (Isaiah 11:7)
And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. (Isaiah 11:8)
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. (Isaiah 11:9)
And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. (Isaiah 11:10)
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. (Isaiah 11:11)
And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. (Isaiah 11:12)
The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim. (Isaiah 11:13)
But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them. (Isaiah 11:14)
And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. (Isaiah 11:15)
And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt. (Isaiah 11:16)
In the midst of this imposing scene of war and ultimate earthly peace we have the fifth mention of Shinar in Scripture. Although ‘grace’ is attached to the number of five, notice that ‘grace’ is specifically directed to recover the remnant of his people who are left in the lands of the enemies of God . . . . Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, and from Shinar, Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. Seven lands are mentioned, and the Gentiles are also included in the phrase the islands of the sea. His people (although scattered, wounded and removed from their Creator Savior God, Jesus Christ) will be once more gathered (And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time). Although they were in captivity in Babylon, and in many other lands, what is mentioned in Isaiah 11:11 is compared to their enslavement in Egypt as the first because He brought them ALL out in their entirety and they became a nation. And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt. (Isaiah 11:16)
Since this article is about Shinar, we should reinforce the prophecy that all that Shinar represents and was built on will end. But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. (Isaiah 11:4) The land that was named Confusion, founded on the enslavement of the souls of men, established on religious self aggrandizement, built on fraudulent and deceptive materials, and rooted on pride and arrogance came to its proper end; at the end, the Keepers of the Gate could not keep the knowledge of God from the people. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. (Isaiah 11:9)

into the land of Shinar to the house of his god
And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god. (Daniel 1:2)
This is the sixth (6) mention of Shinar. Six (being the number of man in his sin) is quite fitting in this scene in the book of Daniel Chapter 1, verse 2. This book of Daniel is an essential book of prophecy that directly connects to the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, and of course, it ties the Babylon of the past to the Babylon of the future.
The back story of Jehoiakim king of Judah is a tragic account of a royal family destroyed, and ruined through their rebellion against God and against two greater earthly powers of Egypt and Babylon. Leaving behind the events of the family of Joash, the last ungodly king of Israel let us stay focused on the land of Shinar.
The land of Shinar is precisely stated as the sixth mention in the book of Daniel because this land not only has the meaning of Confusion as it relates to the mixing of peoples and cultures, but this land was the home base and foundation of one of the greatest kingdoms ever to exist on this planet. (We think in terms of our individual national histories within our thought limitations, we cannot conceive of greatness outside of our own experiences, neither can we think of ‘greatness’ outside of the realm of goodness. How about these phrases great is that darkness . . . . great tribulation . . . . great earthquake . . . . great famine . . . great fear . . . great affliction . . . . great violence . . . . great trial of affliction . . . . great conflict . . . . great wrath . . . great Babylon . . . . BABYLON THE GREAT.)
Those of us of western heritage find it almost impossible to comprehend eastern minds. The Bible is a book of eastern minds, of eastern cultures, and of eastern values. Every nation mentioned in Scripture is only documented because of their relationship with Israel. From Egypt to Ethiopia to India to Assyria all are recognized according to their interactions with the people of God: Israel. The Center Point of the Bible is the Lord Jesus Christ, and the main action centers around His people: Israel and His Church.
The land of Shinar is not only spiritually symbolic of mankind comfortable and in total control of his environment, but the land of Shinar (in the book of Daniel) is mankind finally at his highest stage of human sinful spiritual development: man was now god. The land of Shinar, also known as the land of Babylon, was the prototype of the last Babylon yet to be. This first great Babylon was the pattern and model of Babylon the MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. (Revelation 17:5).
In Daniel 1:2, in the sixth (6) mention of Shinar notice these words . . . the house of God . . . . the house of his god . . . . house of his god. Who is the ‘his‘? And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god. (Daniel 1:2) Verse 1 of Chapter 1, sets the stage. In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it. We will ignore the back story of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and briefly focus on Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. Why briefly? Because we will delve into Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon when we get to our article dealing with Babylon. There are many who ruled over Babylon and documented in Scripture, such as, Cyrus the king of Babylon, Artaxerxes king of Babylon, Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, and Belshazzar king of Babylon, but none as vicious and merciless and renown as the man Nebuchadnezzar. He was a god over all the known kingdoms and power houses of the world at that age. And, the Antichrist, 6 – 6 – 6, known as the man of sin will act as a god over this planet at the End Time will be as Nebuchadnezzar ruling as the head of a one world governed by a tyrant controlled and consumed with GREAT evil. You want to know what the future will be? Look into the past to the land of Shinar. Whatever mankind touches of the things of God becomes slime covered by an illusion of godliness.Â
And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god. (Daniel 1:2) The land of Shinar is an actual location, a physical location, a geographical location where Satan placed his house. God destroyed this once, and He will yet again destroy Satan’s house on earth at the End Time. Notice these words . . . . the house of God . . . . the house of his god . . . . the treasure house of his god. THE HOUSE became a counterfeit house. THE HOUSE became a place of deceptive worship. Whatever mankind touches of the things of God becomes slime covered by an illusion of godliness. That is one of the reasons why ‘the glory departed’ in the age of Eli the priest and the tabernacle, and the glory departed in the vision of Ezekiel from Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem at the time of Nebuchadnezzar’s conquest over Judah.
The first phrase the house of God . . . the word God is capitalized showing the preeminence of the Creator God. . . . then god is in lowercase when connected to man’s god. Another interesting point is the treasure house of his god. This is another shadow of the great conflict not only between man and God, but between Lucifer and God. Man steals and robs the treasures of God and places it the house of his own making, the treasure house of his god. Lucifer steals and robs the things of God and makes them as his own: another gospel, another Christ, and another spirit. This speaks volumes as it shows how mankind, especially Nebuchadnezzar, attaches his god to his treasure house. Religion wraps itself in wealth. Every religion exists because of money. In the tower of Babel we have religion as the glue that held a city together. In Amraphel the king of Shinar we have religion and monarchy fused together as one in military force. In Nebuchadnezzar we have religion, autocracy, a powerful machine of war, and immeasurable wealth IN one man. (All of us should be able to relate our own Age of Insanity to the age of Nebuchadnezzar because behind the scenes there is not one man YET who is the totality of ALL religion, ALL governmental order, ALL military power, and ALL immeasurable wealth. The reason that one individual has yet to obtain ALL power is because we have corporations, banksters, religions, and agencies within shadow governments all vying for that prime position as head god.) But there will come a day very shortly when this will happen:
And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. (Revelation 17:12) These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. (Revelation 17:13) . . . . For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. (Revelation 17:17)
There is so much more in this sixth mention of the land of Shinar. And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god. (Daniel 1:2) These vessels that were stolen from the house of God in Jerusalem and taken to the treasure house of the god of Nebuchadnezzar is only partially described in the following verses. The immense wealth that graced the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem is unfathomable.
Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. (2nd Chronicles 3:1)
And he garnished the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim. (2nd Chronicles 3:6) He overlaid also the house, the beams, the posts, and the walls thereof, and the doors thereof, with gold; and graved cherubims on the walls. (2nd Chronicles 3:7) And he made the most holy house, the length whereof was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents. (2nd Chronicles 3:8) And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold. And he overlaid the upper chambers with gold. (2nd Chronicles 3:9) And in the most holy house he made two cherubims of image work, and overlaid them with gold. (2nd Chronicles 3:10)
You may be thinking at this point, So what? What has this to do with us except for a little bit of biblical history and knowledge? It has a lot to do with us, as Christians. As this was not only physical wealth, this was Israel’s inheritance, this was Israel’s connection to God because this was the only place that God established as His perfection of beauty, His habitation, and His holy hill Zion. What Nebuchadnezzar removed from Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem not only was the inheritance of Israel, but it was the place of God’s throne on earth, His praise centered in this Temple, and His future throne on earth will be centered on His holy hill of Zion.
• Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.(Psalm 2:6)
• Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined. (Psalm 50:2)
• Remember thy congregation, [which] thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thine inheritance, [which] thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt. (Psalm 74:2)
• To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem; (Psalm 102:21)
• For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired [it] for his habitation. (Psalm 132:13)
• Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury. (Zechariah 8:2)Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain. (Zechariah 8:3)
Christians have also been victimized by men of like character as Nebuchadnezzar. We have also been robbed of our spiritual inheritance, and are not aware of it, and many do not even care. How have we been robbed? Although we are not of Israel, we are of another sphere, another world of the heavenlies and yet, we have been stripped of our inheritance as sons of God, and as priests of God by failing to stand firm for His righteous name. But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: (1st Peter 2:9) His glorious name has been diminished in our conversations. His majesty has been soiled through our irreverent attitude. His word has been substituted and questioned, and His righteousness has been subverted. As Israel failed before they were overcome by Babylon, and after their captivity they continually failed to proclaim the truth, they failed to uphold their covenant of Levy in the priesthood, they failed to teach the Law of God, and they failed to honor God. Yes, Israel was robbed, and so also the church has been robbed. Our spiritual blessings in Christ have been pillaged and what was considered spiritual blessings has been transformed to material goods. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. (Romans 8:17) Christ has been dishonored and disavowed through the acceptance of lies that He could have sinned attempting to make Him less then He is, God. One by one, the attributes of the Godhead bodily have been carried away piece by piece by the enemies standing in the pulpits, prancing on religious stages, and bowing in fraudulent liturgical ceremonial performances. (Ah, Christianity . . . how far has it fallen).
Israel was robbed, the Church has been robbed and continues to be robbed daily, and God is robbed every second. Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. (Malachi 3:8) Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. (Malachi 3:9) Tithing was a system instituted by God specifically for Old Testament not meant for New Testament saints, but it wasn’t the only means by which those who lived under Old Testament Scriptures robbed God. They robbed God by taking for themselves that which belonged to Him. The church in the New Testament has also taken for themselves that which belongs to Him.
I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. (3rd John 1:9)
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:18)
How then is God robbed? We rob God of His time. We rob God the reverence do to His name. We rob God of His praise. We rob God by giving credence to another gospel. We rob God by refusing His words. We rob God of His truth by relying on false teachers when they question His truth. We rob God by desiring the things of the world over and above the things of God. Those who rob God the most are not those of the world, but those who claim to be of Christ.
For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. (2nd Corinthians 11:4)
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. (Revelation 2:4)
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (1st John 2:15)
And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god. (Daniel 1:2)
This is not the last time that we shall be in the book of Daniel, but for now let us journey on.
♦
To build it an house in the land of Shinar
And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base. (Zechariah 5:11)
This is the seventh (7) and last mention of Shinar in Scripture. And it is a humdinger, a jewel, it does much more than complete the word Shinar, this verse is the completion and ground zero of prophecy. I am beyond my pay grade in this Chapter. (I am going to take a short break, get dinner started, take the dog out, and sweet talk the cat . . . . while I prayerfully contemplate the many threads that are embedded in this verse). While I am away, read the entire Chapter . . . . suggestion: read it eleven (11) times. (Yah . . . like that’s goin’a happen!)Â
Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll. (Zechariah 5:1)
And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. (Zechariah 5:2)
Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it. (Zechariah 5:3)
I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof. (Zechariah 5:4)
¶ Then the angel that talked with me went forth, and said unto me, Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth. (Zechariah 5:5)
And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth. (Zechariah 5:6)
And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah. (Zechariah 5:7)
And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof. (Zechariah 5:8)
Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven. (Zechariah 5:9)
Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah? (Zechariah 5:10)
And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base. (Zechariah 5:11)
Chapter 5 is divided into two sections. Let us consider the first part.
The flying roll is the first object that we see. This roll is a book, a volume as set in the first mention of the word roll in the book of Ezra 6:2. And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that [is] in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein [was] a record thus written. There are scores of verses to confirm that a roll was a book. Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day. (Jeremiah 36:2) And when I looked, behold, an hand [was] sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book [was] therein; (Ezra 2:9) But this book (roll) flew, and as a flying roll it is only mentioned twice (as a witness and testimony) in all of Scripture and both are in Zechariah Chapter 5. The Holy Spirit of God assigns a specific measurement to this flying roll. And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. Twenty cubits is the length, and ten cubits is the breadth (20 x 10). God presents the larger number first and then the lesser number last for a specific purpose. (Everything and I mean EVERYTHING in this Chapter forms a theme; when we read the last words know that we have been served the essence of Nimrod, Babel, Shinar and Babylon the GREAT on a huge platter. MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.) Although this Chapter is the 7th and the last mention of Shinar, it is also the anticipated prelude to what awaits the world during the End Times and the Times of the Great Tribulation. This anticipation is presented to us in the numbers of the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. This is a measurement of this flying roll. In the number 10 we have the Perfection of Divine Order. God’s cycle is complete. His righteous divine judgment is complete, not yet fulfilled BUT complete nevertheless. Then in the number twenty (20) we have anticipation or expectancy of what will occur. Although in this number we have division in the number 2, it is a division that testifies of God’s will and purpose even in difference.
Side Note: The spiritual significance of the number two (2) is that it can be a point of difference or a point of agreement. When it is agreement then it signifies witness (when two agree with each other it becomes witness), when it is difference then it signifies division, enmity, conflict, or opposition between the first and the second; for example, in Genesis 1:2, the first thing that we see about the earth is that it was in darkness. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Then in Genesis 1:3, the next thing or the second thing that we are told about the earth is that God said, Let there be light: and there was light. In Genesis 1:4, we read, And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. Thus, through these ‘two’ opposing elements of light and darkness we have division, conflict, and enmity presented. The number two (2) can mean agreement, or it can mean conflict and opposition when two separate elements do not agree.
In the first Chapter of the first book of the Bible, God the Holy Spirit plants many unseen concepts. One of these concepts is that the number two is connected to opposition. The word divided is recorded two times. And God saw the light, that [it was] good: and God divided the light from the darkness. (Genesis 1:4) And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which [were] under the firmament from the waters which [were] above the firmament: and it was so. (Genesis 1:7)
Whenever the number two is brought into the narrative then it must either agree or disagree. Can two walk together, except they be agreed? (Amos 3:3) The Ten Commandments is all that man needs to understand God’s holiness and righteousness, and that man can never rise to the level of God’s standard; consequently nothing can be added to the Ten Commandments that could improve or add to its standard. Also in the number ten (10) we also see the Antichrist’s complete sovereignty over the world. This last world ruler, the man of sin, the Beast, will have total control; total means he has it all, he needs nothing more to complete his ownership of the world. And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. (Revelation 17:12) These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. (Revelation 17:13) Everything that evil does is according to God’s will and word. There is a reason why the word Babel is mentioned only twice in the entire Bible because from its very beginning it was in opposition against God. ♦ End of Side Note
Looking at this number (20) as a whole unit, Scripture reinforces the concept of anticipation of what God is about to do in His perfect divine order. Examine twenty as it sits alone in the pages of symbolism not attached to other numbers such as ‘three hundred and twenty,’ but just plain ‘twenty.’ Jacob waited 20 years anticipating his bride. This twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flock have I not eaten. (Genesis 31:38) Thus have I been twenty years in thy house; I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy cattle: and thou hast changed my wages ten times. (Genesis 31:41) Israel waited 20 years for deliverance. And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel. (Judges 4:3) And again, they waited 20 years for their deliverance by Samson. (Judges 15:20; 16:31) And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years. The Ark waited 20 years in Kirjathjearim. And it came to pass, while the ark abode in Kirjathjearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD. (1st Samuel 7:2) Solomon waited 20 years for the completion of the building of two houses. (2nd Chronicles 8:1)
And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. God set a point of measurement for this flying roll, it would be and has been a point of anticipation according to God’s perfect divine order meaning specifically that even in the things of evil God’s will is not excluded. This flying roll flies because it is allowed to move by the Spirit of God OVER the earth, and in THIS ROLL (book) is God’s declaration to earth. But what is this declaration? And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. (Zechariah 5:2) Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it. (Zechariah 5:3) This flying roll contains the solemn statement of the earth under THE CURSE. This curse is OVER THE FACE OF THE WHOLE EARTH and symbolically it is a FLYING curse as a flying roll. Again, and I repeat, this Chapter that has the seventh and last mention of Shinar is the background, the history and future development of the curse of sin as it flies over the earth consuming all with evil exemplified by Nimrod, Amraphel, Babel, Shinar and Babylon. Nimrod (the rebel) was in God’s perfect divine order. Babel and Shinar (Confusion) were in God’s perfect divine order. Babylon past and MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH are all in God’s perfect divine order.
Here is the order: first, the man Nimrod appeared on the scene as the prototype of the hunter of the souls of men, and the first rebel to set up his kingdom base on ”Confusion and as ‘The Gate of God,’ or ‘The Gate of the gods’ to appear in the person of the Antichrist. Next, Amraphel appeared on the scene as the king and Keeper of the gate to God and to the gods. He was, in type, the Antichrist who sets himself up as god. Then we have Shinar, a land totally given over to Confusion, idolatry and evil. Then Babylon (complete Confusion) is next in the order of the development of confusion, idolatry and evil to finally be manifested as MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Evil’s order is completed from the first world unified together (under Nimrod) against God to the last and final world unified together and identified as ‘the new world order’ under the man of sin, the Antichrist, the 6 – 6 – 6, the Beast. Side by side in our Chapter 5 of Zechariah we have man’s evil order and God’s divine perfect order and ALL of this is in anticipation of what is about to take place on our planet.
Side Note: FLYING. Before we continue on to the end of this first section of Chapter 5, verses 3 and 4, I must just add something of note about the flying roll. As you follow the word flying in Scripture, you will discover interesting concepts around this word as it appears nine (9) times in the Old Testament, (the number nine is branded with ‘the end’ and ‘conclusion’) and only twice in the New Testament.
Nine times in the Old Testament we have the word flying. We are about to attempt to quickly move through these references to connect flying with that which is evil, and the end and conclusion of all that is evil. ALL ABOARD?
1 Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon [all] four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth; (Leviticus 11:21)
2Â But all [other] flying creeping things, which have four feet, [shall be] an abomination unto you. (Leviticus 11:23) Leaving the Old Testament Laws regarding the discernment between clean and unclean food, let us press on to the spiritual concepts behind Leviticus Chapter 11. Discernment is an essential quality, and God through the Holy Spirit taught this quality in the most basic form: even that which was eaten had to be judged as clean or unclean. And there was a specific difference between some flying creeping things and other flying creeping things. (There is so much more than can be written here but let us roll on.) The first and second mention of flying is centered on the discernment of clean and unclean food. To accept, to eat, to swallow and base your life existence on the things that are unclean is an abomination unto you. OK, do you get the first two points of the nine points from the word flying? God is righteous. Man is unrighteous. How can man become righteous? How can man become clean?
Who can bring a clean [thing] out of an unclean? not one. (Job 14:4)
How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean [that is] born of a woman? (Job 25:4)
The fear of the LORD [is] clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD [are] true [and] righteous altogether. (Psalm 19:9)
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, (2nd Corinthians 6:17)
And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. (Revelation 19:8)
3Â Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl: (Psalm 148:10) This is the Psalm of praise. In 8 verses the word praise is recorded. All things will praise God, even flying fowl, even all that represents evil will praise God.
I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth [in] righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. (Isaiah 45:23)
For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. (Romans 14:11)
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;Â (Philippians 2:10)
Every knee shall bow, and every knee should bow . . . . three times in all of Scripture we are informed that EVERY KNEE will bow to God at the name of Jesus. The third point out of the nine points of the word flying that ALL will bow in praise to God.
4 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come. (Proverbs 26:2) All who wander away from their course are without excuse when they are overcome with the curse of sin. This 4th reference again teaches that even a small flying swallow is under the curse as all of nature has been affected by the evil and sin of man.
For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, (Romans 8:20)
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. (Romans 8:21) For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. (Romans 8:22)
The fourth point of the nine points of the flying curse is ALL are under the curse.
5Â Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit [shall be] a fiery flying serpent. (Isaiah 14:29) This 4th mention of flying serpent adds the word fiery, and this verse is found in the section describing Lucifer. (Read the complete 14th Chapter of Isaiah). This serpent is Lucifer seething with rage swiftly spreading his own doom over God’s creation as a fiery flying serpent. From Lucifer’s root of sinful rebellion will emerge the product (the fruit) of his treason against God, and this is where Nimrod, Babel, Shinar and Babylon come into play. Yet, in spite of the venom of sin that impacted mankind in every area of his existence there is a greater power and a greater One who has it all under control: our Sovereign God.
The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: (Isaiah 14:24)
That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders. (Isaiah 14:25)
This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations. (Isaiah 14:26)
For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back? (Isaiah 14:27)
Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent. (Isaiah 14:29)
Regardless of Satan’s swiftness in spreading his venom of evil, God has purposed. Four times in this 14th Chapter dealing with Lucifer we see God ‘s encouragement through the words purposed and purpose. God is in control. You need not ask, Why does God purpose. That is not for us to ask God WHY. It is for us to BELIEVE Him and to have faith IN Him, that all that He purposed will be completely fulfilled. This is the beauty of this 5th point of these nine points — GOD IS SOVEREIGN OVER ALL, even over the fiery flying serpent.
6Â The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and anguish, from whence [come] the young and old lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people [that] shall not profit [them]. (Isaiah 30:6) This 30th Chapter deals with Israel’s continuous rebellion against their Creator God and King. And yet, God in His extremely long-suffering mercy promises that they will be welcomed and received by Him in returning to Him, and He will give them rest, and strength. This Chapter is an encouraging Chapter that shows more of God’s unbounded love and grace. Verse 6 informs us that the flying serpent is fiery and a viper (deadly), and this deadly evil originates from a land of trouble and anguish. Also, this verse is a miniature characterization of mankind with the burden of sin on his back, again, I say, it is mankind tied to the number six. All who place their treasures of hope on the backs of beasts of burdens become beasts with the burden of sin. This sixth point of the nine points of the word flying discloses that rebellious mankind cannot flee from God’s judgment, and in spite of the surety of impending judgment is the surety of God’s mercy and grace. (The following references have been deliberately selected to provide you with a basic summary of this Chapter).
Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:Â (Isaiah 30:1)
Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:Â (Isaiah 30:8)
That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:Â (Isaiah 30:9)
For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not. (Isaiah 30:15)
But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift. (Isaiah 30:16)
And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. (Isaiah 30:17)
For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod. (Isaiah 30:18)
7Â As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver [it; and] passing over he will preserve it. (Isaiah 31:5) This 7th point in these nine points of flying we have the assurance and pledge from God, the LORD of hosts, that He will defend Jerusalem, He will deliver Jerusalem, and BY PASSING OVER (the Passover) He will preserve Jerusalem. This is God’s GUARANTEE to defend, deliver and to preserve the Center of His earthly throne.
8Â Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll. (Zechariah 5:1) In this 8h point of our nine points dealing with flying, we have three things that Zechariah did: he turned, he lifted up his eyes and he looks at the flying roll. To see God’s perfection, His COMPLETE PERFECTION we need to turn from the things that distracts from His glory, we need to LIFT UP our eyes to see Him as the highest of the high above all, we need to LOOK at Him and Him alone, and then when we behold the flying roll as THE CURSE we will understand more of His PERFECTION. Nothing of the earth can diminish His perfection, and no amount of evil can affect His perfection. As Christians we are allowed to taste things of His perfection, but to KNOW HIM in ALL His perfection is still before us in a new beginning. We wait in anticipation in limited measure now for the time yet to come before us. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (1st John 3:2)
9 And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof [is] twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. (Zechariah 5:2) This last mention of flying is the end and conclusion of the measurement of man’s sin and evil in THE CURSE. Number nine is symbolically presented in the word flying. Let’s summarize this summary. together:
• The first and second mention of flying are centered on the discernment of clean and unclean food. To accept, to eat, to swallow and base your life existence on the things that are unclean is an abomination unto you.
• The third point out of the nine points of the word flying is that ALL will bow in praise to God.
• The fourth point of the nine points of the flying curse is ALL are under the curse.
• The 5th point is — GOD IS SOVEREIGN OVER ALL, even over the fiery flying serpent.
• This sixth point of the nine points of the word flying discloses that rebellious mankind cannot flee from God’s judgment, and in spite of the surety of impending judgment is the surety of God’s mercy and grace.
• The 7th point is God’s GUARANTEE to defend, deliver and to preserve the Center of His earthly throne in the order of His perfection.
• The 8h point is that when we turn, and lift up our eyes we see His perfection and that all He has purposed will be fulfilled.
• The 9th point is that God has measured mankind and has found ALL of mankind wanting. This is the end, the conclusion in that ALL have sinned and there is none good, no not one. This is the conclusion, and the end (through the number 9) of what began in Genesis Chapter 11 at Babel.
Let us examine the word in the New Testament. The word flying is recorded twice in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. The first time as four symbols of God’s manifested character through the Lord Jesus Christ as a lion (King), a calf (servant), a man, and a flying eagle (Deity, the Spirit of God, the Godhead bodily in action fulfilling all righteousness and all judgment). And the first beast [was] like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast [was] like a flying eagle. (Revelation 4:7) The sum of the flying eagle (God in His sovereignty and deity and as the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth) manifested Himself to His creation and His creatures symbolically as a lion, a calf, a man, and as an eagle. Here is the mystery of God in His manifested glory and sinlessness.
In the last record of the word flying in Chapter 8, verse 13 of the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, we have And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound! Here we have the harbinger of the triple, Woe – woe – woe by an angel flying. Judgment — Judgment —Judgment. And THREE angels yet to sound with trumpets. First through the flying eagle God reveals His glory, holiness and grace to the world. Then in the angel flying God reveals His righteous judgment. ♦ End of Side Note.
In this 7th reference of Shinar God takes us back to the beginning of the curse. Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: Yes, there is a curse on the earth because the first man to have dominion over the earth (Adam) rebelled against his Creator God and therefore, brought sin and death upon all of his descendants. God formed Adam from dust and made him in the image of God and placed him in the position of honor and governorship over the creation, but sin not only removed the glory of God from Adam it also changed his being, it changed his standing and state before a righteous God. And because Adam lost it all, he was cursed to become once again merely dust.
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. (Genesis 3:19)
All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust. (Job 34:15)
As a flying curse that spreads and contaminates all, the sin of Adam did not perish in the flood, but it was within the sin nature of all men; however, God declared one man righteous: Noah. (Genesis 7:1; 6:9; Hebrews 11:7)
♦
And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base. (Zechariah 5:11)
Let us now consider the second part of Chapter 5 of the book of Zechariah . . . . and you thought that I was finished . . . . hahahahahahah. For those of you with attention deficit, allow me to remind you why we are in Zechariah Chapter 5. This is the seventh (7) and last mention of Shinar. And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base. (Zechariah 5:11) I warned you that this seventh mention of Shinar was a humdinger. Be grateful that you can click off at any time, and you’re not in a lecture hall. READY — SET — GO!

Ephah
¶ Then the angel that talked with me went forth, and said unto me, Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth. (Zechariah 5:5)
And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth. (Zechariah 5:6)
What is an ephah? The simple definition is that it is a form of measurement. I can’t wait to get into the spiritual definition of ephah! Now an omer [is] the tenth [part] of an ephah. (Exodus 16:36)The first mention of a word, or concept, sets the tone of its meaning: this is the Law of First Mention. God was precise in setting His standard of measurement through the word ephah teaching us about spiritual standards, and how these standards shape the seen world that is controlled and fashioned by the unseen world. Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I [am] the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt. (Leviticus 19:36) But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. (Deuteronomy 25:15) As God is Just and Perfect in all of His purposes and will, so mankind has been given a standard through which he should conduct his life and actions. A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight. (Proverbs 11:1) Within the evil imagination is the continuous proclivity of sinful man to enforce his own standards of immorality over God’s standards. A just weight and balance are the LORD’S: all the weights of the bag are his work. (Proverbs 16:11) All moral standards are set by God: Re: the Ten Commandments. God’s standards are greater than what is called morality. Everything we do, and say, and purpose is weighed and balanced by God alone because ALL belongs to Him, and it is HIS BAG and it is HIS WORK; therefore, God alone is justified and sovereign in His appraisal of mankind.
And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth. (Zechariah 5:6) The vision of this particular ephah goeth forth, shows that this standard (man’s standard) of measurement is progressively evil. (This Chapter deals with evil, and the first thing that Zechariah saw was a flying book that was described by the angel as the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it.) Keep this in mind: this Chapter is about the swift progression of evil, and evil is measured by God. Here in Zechariah Chapter 5 it is an ephah, in many other Scriptures God measures the curse of sin by the symbol of a cup. The prime thought is that God ALONE sets the measure. And the first measure set was the first commandment of God in the first Law, the Law of Sin and Death . . . . thou shalt not . . . But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (Genesis 3:17)
In the ephah (the measure of sin) . . . . it is an ephah . . . . one ephah . . . . evil began with the evil of one, Satan. Then the ephah (measure) of one became the ephah (measure) of two: Adam and Eve. Then the ephah of two became the ephah of a third, Cain. Then the ephah of Cain led to the total annihilation of a world, and the total destruction of the earth (except for eight souls). This is the shortened version of man’s depraved standards weighed and found wanting in the eyes of God.
This is their resemblance through all the earth. Now notice a very small connection between an ephah (one) to more than one in the word their. Now in the progression of evil, it takes on the possessive form of ‘they.’ The Holy Spirit of God is about to present to us a profound view and summary of the development and progression of evil. This is partly what I meant as a humdinger. This curse through ALL the earth takes on the properties of there being MANY . . . . their resemblance. It is given to us to know that this ephah becomes symbolically MANY as in a plural form. The remaining section of this Chapter in Zechariah deals symbolically and literally with sin and its MANY agents, its many ephahs, its many means to fly swiftly, and its many infiltration methods fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind.

Lead
In verses 7 and 8 we are introduced to lead and to a woman who is labeled Wickedness. And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah. (Zechariah 5:7) And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof. (Zechariah 5:8) The One who controlled this talent of lead also cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.
Side Note: Lead. Lead is mentioned as a metal seven times in the Old Testament, and documented as tied to wickedness, and dross. Do not merely read the verse references but also read what precedes and follows each reference: Numbers 31:22; Jeremiah 6:29; Ezekiel 22:18, 20; Ezekiel 27:12; Zechariah 5:7, 8. Some of the characteristics of lead can be connected spiritually to wickedness as its deadly toxicity often leads to pain and death. Lead is unstable and can be easily altered and is extremely heavy. (Heaviness and density are two different points of measurement. Lead has a larger atomic weight than mercury. However, mercury is more dense than lead.) In the number seven we again see God’s perfection through His perfect selection of the word lead to reinforce the unseen depth of wickedness. ♦ End of Side Note.

A Woman
And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah. (Zechariah 5:7)
Sitting in the midst of this ephah is an image of a woman who symbolizes wickedness. She is neither walking, nor standing, but she is sitting. You may ask, Why a woman? Why is she sitting? Why the phrase This is wickedness? Zechariah 5:7 is the last mention in the Old Testament of the word woman . . . and connects to the last mention of the word woman in the New Testament.
And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth. (Zechariah 5:6) And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah. (Zechariah 5:7) Read carefully again . . . . there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman. This weighty toxic, soft, dense, easily flexible, unstable measurement of lead is a woman. The word of God does NOT say, and there is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah, but referring to the previous statement of lead this is a woman. All the characteristics of lead are seen and the unseen in the woman sitting in the midst of the ephah. (Now do not go ballistic on me if you are a woman). Many nations are labeled as female. This woman in Zechariah 5:7 is the further development of the mystery of Babylon, and it is the beginning of the placement of a specific individual . . . . a sitting woman.
This mysterious symbolic woman leads us to the last book of the Bible: the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. There are three entities called a ‘woman.‘ The first mention is in Revelation 2:20: Jezebel. The second entity referred to as a woman is the nation of Israel in Chapter 12 of Revelation. (This is easy to remember because the number twelve is Governmental Perfection, and we have the twelve tribes of Israel; thus, Chapter 12 is about Israel). The third and last entity referred to as a woman is found in Chapter 17 and the mystery of the great whore of Babylon where we have the last mention of woman connected to THAT CITY, And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. (Revelation 17:18) This takes us back to the first book of the Bible, Genesis; the first documented city was built by the first rebel, Cain, and named after his first son Enoch.
Side Note: The First Recorded City on Earth. The city called Dedication. The very first thing we notice about Cain after the birth of his son was the development of an urban civilization. The first city mentioned in Scripture before the flood was called Enoch, named after Cain’s first born son. Their inward thought [is, that] their houses [shall continue] for ever, [and] their dwelling places to all generations; they call [their] lands after their own names. (Psalm 49:11) Cain named his son Enoch, which means ‘Dedicated.’ This name reveals much to us about the mind-set and heart-set of Cain. Instead of having a repentant heart attitude over his murderous act against his own brother, Abel, and a repentance toward God, instead Cain’s heart revealed a defiant and rebellious attitude. He will name the work of his hands ‘dedication.’
A city implies many people, and we see Cain’s family multiplying. His offspring had his same rebellious heart. Cain named his first born ‘dedicated’ because Cain was dedicated to himself, dedicated in his self-will, and to the dedication of his heart to rebel against God in everything he did. We learn much about the men of the Bible by the names they called their children. He was proud in his possessions, and claimed the city and the land as his, and not God’s. That is man, sinful man, he believes that this world belongs to him, and leaves God out of it completely. It’s as if Cain said to God — ‘Look what my hands have accomplished, I don’t need you God, we are dedicated to showing you what we can achieve in the wonderful accomplishments by our own hands — we don’t need or want God!’ Man has not changed, not one bit, thousands of thousands of years have passed, and man still is dedicated to himself and only himself. ♦ End of Side Note.
Here is the Law of First Mention in action. The first documented city on planet Earth before the flood was dedicated to the offspring of the first murderer: Cain. The first documented city on earth after the flood was named by the rebel Nimrod. ‘The Gate of God,’ or ‘The Gate of the Gods,’ and ‘Confusion,’ was the double meaning of this first city called Babel. Do you see the unseen spiritual connection that drives the hatred against God to dedicate all that is built around man’s desires? Do you also see the origin of dedication to set up a spiritual evil kingdom founded on rebellion and hatred in the words of Lucifer, ‘I will?’ For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: (Isaiah 14:13) I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. (Isaiah 14:14) The evidence of Cain’s hatred, and the evidence of Nimrod’s hatred culminates in the last CITY mentioned in Scripture built by the agents of Satan, for the use of Satan as his home base. And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. (Revelation 17:18)
Again the Law of First Mention comes into play with the word woman. The last mention of woman in the Old Testament is found in Zechariah 5:7, And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah. The last mention of woman in the New Testament is in Revelation 17:18, And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. The Holy Spirit of God labels it all for us in Zechariah Chapter 5. This is wickedness. What begins and ends on what appears to be a small notation of a flying ephah becomes at the end of the spread of wickedness over the earth a GREAT CITY that rules over the kings of the earth. This is the message of Zechariah Chapter 5 that sin flies, spreads, grows, and consumes ALL. You remember that 14th century proverb, ‘From little acorns mighty oaks grow.’ How about this quote from the epistle of James, Chapter 1, verse 15, Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
You may ask, Why a woman?
Woman Deceived and Woman Deceiver
The first time we have the word woman in Scripture it refers to Eve: the first woman on earth, who being deceived was in the transgression. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. (2nd Corinthians 11:3) And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. (1st Timothy 2:14) Although it was Eve who was first deceived, and who first sinned, and moved her husband willingly to rebel against God, it was Adam who bore the blame and the shame because he was the earth’s Executive Head over the creation, ‘the buck stops there.’ Adam was not deceived; he knew what they both were doing was treason. In the corporate world of business, corporate failure is the responsibility of the CEO, and often in corporate setbacks, the CEO is removed from position and replaced regardless of whose actions caused the failure. The man at the top bears the blame and the shame. From this point of Eve’s deception, and although there have been women of honor and blessed of God, the sin of Eve has not diminished through time and history.
What was Eve’s prevalent sinful trait that came to the forefront in the garden of Eden? It was her desire to rule, to call the shots, to assume the position of leadership over God’s designated ruler. She was confronted with the most important issue of life and that is death. Her action to commit treason against her Creator was not a light thing. She had been given the Law of Sin and Death. She understood that to disobey God would be death. The crux of the setup by Satan was for Eve to doubt God, to question His Godship, His Godness. How could God be God if He lied? Was God God, or was He not? This was not a simple question such as, ‘What shall I wear?’ or ‘How can I find my purpose in life?’ This was the question of eternal consequences, and yet, she took it upon herself to reply without consulting her mate because she didn’t need Adam’s opinion nor his advice.
Well, honey, accept this statement from this writer, a woman. This is where we are today, As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths. (Isaiah 3:12) I am going to repeat this, just in case there is a woman who has gotten this far into this article without having a screaming hissy fit. God used many godly women: Hannah, Jael, Debra, Mary, Priscilla, and many more: all in different ages, and all in different service and ministry. Scripturally what begins must also end on the same note: Eve was deceived and the deceiver deceived.
Side Note: Some of the godly women mentioned in Scripture. There were many godly women in Scripture that God honored to serve Him. They did so in many roles: as mothers and family pillars (Sarah, Hannah, Ruth, and Mary), as a lone warrior (Jael), as a fearless and wise messenger (Abigail), as a prophetess, judge, and a distinguished leader (Deborah), as teachers of the Word (Priscilla, Lois, and Eunice), and as a faithful servant of the Church (Phebe). ♦ End of Side Note: Some of the godly women mentioned in Scripture.
God is Just and Righteous to use the female characteristics that led Eve to sin to further implement His purpose and plan with His world, and with His creatures. If anyone has a problem with what I write then take it to God. What I have written I have written. Our social structure is in a shambles because ungodly, pushy, angry women have aggressively taken over leadership roles in areas that they are not emotionally equipped to deal with. (Boy Oh Boy, I have made a lot of women very angry!) BYE. Back to the article on the mystery of the woman sitting in the midst of the ephah.

Two Women
Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven. (Zechariah 5:9)
Now we have TWO WOMEN . . . . the curse . . . . the ephah expands. Let us again follow these bread crumbs spread at our feet by the Spirit of God.
Evil progressively flows as molten lava covering all in its path and leaving behind no evidence of what was once beautiful, rich and fertile ground. (We often consider the Bible as a timeline, and it is, but it also has depth. There is depth within each word and phrase. Layer upon layer of hidden spiritual wealth is buried within every word. We are told to Search the Scriptures, not glance over, but to diligently hunt and dig for the jewels of the knowledge of the holiness of God buried within the many layers of His word. Under the surface, and behind the pictures of symbolism and typology there exists a world . . . . a spiritual world . . . . as vast as the universe.) In this spiritual world there is the world of the seed. It will grow and become fruitfully good, or it will grow and become fruitfully evil. In the curse, in the ephah, in the woman we have the fruit of evil in these two women.
In the Old Testament this phrase two women is recorded three (3) times. In the first mention, these two women are harlots. Look how God sets up the theme, the connection, and the topic of progressive evil, from two women. He adds HARLOTS. Also, the first mention of HARLOTS in this same verse: CONNECTION! Then came there two women, [that were] harlots, unto the king, and stood before him. (1st Kings 3:16) (Let us not get distracted by the back story in this verse). Our eyes should be on the connection between two women in the last mention in Zechariah 5:9 with harlots, and the last mention of harlots is in Revelation 17:5 connected to BABYLON, the kingdom of the last Nimrod. And upon her forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Then in the second mention of two women in Ezekiel 23:2, Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother: they have one mother. Motherhood is brought into this connection. In Ezekiel 16:46 we have the name of the mother: Sodom. And thine elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand: and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, is Sodom and her daughters. In Ezekiel 23:4 God adds names (Aholah and Aholibah). And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah.
Side Note: The meaning of the names of the two women in Ezekiel Chapter 23. Aholah and Aholibah are only recorded six (6) times in the Bible. And both names are linked together six times in Ezekiel 23:4, 5, 11, 22, 36, 44. Aholah has a number of root meanings: ‘her tent,’ (as an idolatrous sanctuary), ‘a covering,’ ‘a home,’ ‘her own tent,’ and ‘clearly seen from a distance.’ Aholibah also has the same root meaning except there is a distinct difference in ‘my tent is in her.’ In this personal ‘my’ there is ownership in responsibility. Aholah represents Samaria and Aholibah represents Jerusalem. Now tell me that mere man wrote the Bible. ♦ End of Side Note.
These two women represent Samaria and Jerusalem. (I know that I ask you to read a lot, but nevertheless READ A LOT more. Read all of the 23rd Chapter of Ezekiel. It is amazing).
The third and final documentation of two women in our study section dealing with Shinar in Zechariah 5:9 the Holy Spirit of God (through the iron pen of a ready writer) interlinks together other concepts: wind, wings, stork and the ephah . . . lifted up . . . . between the earth and the heaven.
These two women are not only represented in symbolism, but they were actual living breathing historical figures of evil. In these two women we have symbolism, history and prophecy: the layer upon layer. THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH in the End Times and in Babylon, is the climax and fullness of iniquity described in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
Remember, in a previous section of this article that I wrote that three women were symbolically recorded in the book of Revelation: the first was Jezebel. This is a major MAJOR connection to the land of Shinar and to BABYLON THE GREAT. Historically Jezebel was evil personified. The following LINKS will give you a wealth of spiritual understanding about these two women. You will be safely directed in one of our other sites. Link #1 CLICK HERE. Link #2 CLICK HERE.Â
The two women in Zechariah represent evilness in the tag team of Jezebel who ruled over Samaria (through the position of her husband Ahab) and the offspring of Jezebel and Ahab, their daughter Athaliah who ruled over Israel as a queen, however, the Holy Spirit of God REFUSED to refer to Athaliah as ‘a queen over Israel,’ instead she is identified as reigning over the land. And he was with her hid in the house of the LORD six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land. (2nd Kings11:3) And he was with them hid in the house of God six years: and Athaliah reigned over the land. (2nd Chronicles 22:12) (Even through this address numbering sequence (the triple two’s 2 – 2 – 1 – 2) I’d say that this was an iron clad testimony against Athaliah written with an iron pen of God that she WOULD NEVER be called ‘a queen over Israel.’) Although Jezebel and her daughter Athaliah did not live in the land of Shinar, they symbolically represented the dual presence of evil not only in the land of Shinar but in the world.
Looking at these two women (Jezebel and Athaliah) through the meaning of their names we see some fascinating connections to the two women harlots in the second mention of the phrase ‘two women,’ in Aholah and Aholibah in Ezekiel Chapter 23 which has already discussed. Memory time: Aholah who represents Samaria has the root meaning of ‘her tent,’ and Aholibah who represents Jerusalem means ‘MY tent is in her.’ Keep everything that I have written in the forefront of your mind . . . this is not impossible to achieve.
Through the meaning of the name of Jezebel we have a bit of CONFUSION. Babel, Shinar and Babylon all mean CONFUSION, but each name has a minor different shift which distinguishes each from the other. This also happens in the name of Jezebel, for instance, some say that the name of Jezebel means ‘unchaste,’ and others say that it means ‘chaste.’ Confusion here? However, when looking into the primitive root meanings I do not see this at all, but there are two primary roots of the name Jezebel. One is as a question, a query, and that which sets up a doubt, for instance: where? how? what? and which way? So, one of the roots of Jezebel is a root of ‘setting up a form of doubt.’ I’d say that this fits into the theme of CONFUSION. Another root meaning of the name of Jezebel is ‘a dwelling place,’ ‘a habitation,’ and ‘a residence.’ Consequently, in Jezebel we have the confusion of doubt dwelling in a place of iniquity. Would this not be a good description of an idolatrous sanctuary set up in Samaria through the original Jezebel through the worship of Baal? The question within the root of this name also takes us back to the original question of doubt in the garden of Eden, when the serpent said to Eve, Yea, hath God said? Jezebels are experts at creating spiritual doubt with the things of God. Where? How? What? Why? Which way is the truth? Where is Christ? Jezebel’s favorite dwelling place is in the ‘house of God,’ from this center Jezebel can then create doubt and confusion; and thereby, removing the things of God, the truth of God, the pure word of God and denying the children of God their place and their inheritance.
And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him. (1st Kings 16:30)
And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him. (1st Kings 16:31)
And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. (1st Kings 16:32)
And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him. (1st Kings 16:33)
˜
Now therefore send, [and] gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table. (1st Kings 18:19)
But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. (1st Kings 21:25)
And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, [Is it] peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts [are so] many? (2nd Kings 9:22)
And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; [so] that they shall not say, This [is] Jezebel. (2nd Kings 9:37)
The Jezebel of the Old Testament was a princess, a queen (through the position of her husband) a whore (harlot), a figurehead of witchcraft, the leader of the prophets of Baal, and the prophets of the groves of Baal, and she plotted the murder of Naboth the Jezreelite. (There is a difference between the positions of the prophets of Baal, and the prophets of the groves of Baal in 1st Kings 18:10). Now therefore send, [and] gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table. The prophets of Baal were the elite priests/prophets of the highest order, and the prophets/priests of the groves were the lesser within this hierarchical order of Baal worship.
Let us fast forward into the New Testament to the only record of the name of Jezebel in the New Testament and the LAST time that this name is documented in the Bible is in connection to the fourth (4) church (Thyatira) in the series of seven churches in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. (Revelation 2:20) This fourth church is the church of the world as the number four is the earth number. This fourth church married the world, and through time it became ‘the world church.’ It is in this church, the fourth church, that Jezebel is shown to reside in her house, her home, her residence of an idolatrous sanctuary. Here in Thyatira, she rules (through the position of her husband) saying she is of Christ, when she is of Satan. (We see again, “So one of the roots of Jezebel is a root of ‘setting up a form of doubt.’ I’d say that this fits into the theme of CONFUSION. Another root meaning of the name of Jezebel is ‘a dwelling place,’ ‘a habitation,’ and ‘a residence.’ Consequently, in Jezebel we have the confusion of doubt dwelling in a place of iniquity.”)
Since Jezebel plotted the murder of Naboth the Jezreelite, there is another murder that we should investigate more. It is the murder of Antipas. (There are many articles in our websites that deal with Antipas, but let’s add more to our understanding of the murder of Antipas in the New Testament and how his murder connects to the murder of Naboth in the Old Testament.)
Jezebel conspired with the elders and the nobles of the city of Naboth to murder this faithful witness of God who refused to give his inheritance away to Ahab. Naboth would not and could not sell what was given freely to him by God because the land was his inheritance and was set by God through the Law of Moses as the Law of Inheritance. So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. (Numbers 36:7)
And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria. (1st Kings 21:1)
And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money. (1st Kings 21:2)
And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee. (1st Kings 21:3)
But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread? (1st Kings 21:5)
And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard. (1st Kings 21:6)
And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry:Â I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite. (1st Kings 21:7)
So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth. (1st Kings 21:8)
And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people:Â (1st Kings 21:9)
And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die. (1st Kings 21:10)
I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite. Although Jezebel did not have the authority to ‘give’ anything to anyone, she actually did have the authority because she controlled Ahab. (How far have we come from Eve’s influence over Adam?) But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. (1st Kings 21:25) Since the garden of Eden, evil women have stirred up men to achieve their wishes, desires and iniquitous agenda’s. (I am thinking of a particular wife of a particular leader who has the talent of Jezebel!)
In the very midst of his own people, Naboth was murdered. By the way, the name of Naboth means ‘fruit,’ and ‘increasing fruit.’ When we follow Naboth through the Old Testament you would say, Well, he didn’t have much fruit because he died, and his heirs lost the fruit of their inheritance. However, when we look at the larger landscape you will find that the fruit of Naboth’s inheritance will be fulfilled in the last and final mention of the word Jezreel in Hosea 2:22.
And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;Â (Hosea 2:21) And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel. (Hosea 2:22) And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God. (Hosea 2:23)
What a wonderful ending and beginning is brought to fruition in the valley of Jezreel when God will say, Thou art my people. And Israel shall say, Thou art my God. Through Jezreel (which means ‘sown of God,’ or ‘God will sow’) the fruit of Naboth, the inheritance of Naboth, God will sow His people back into the land.
Now let’s go forward in time (or backward in time) to Antipas who was murdered in the midst of his brethren in the church of Pergamos, the third church in the sequence of seven churches. As Naboth, Antipas also was murdered in the house of his friends (in the midst of the church). As Naboth refused to deny his inheritance through Jehovah, Antipas also refused to deny his inheritance: faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and his eternal inheritance, and the assurance of an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and his inheritance as chosen of God, and of a royal priesthood.
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, (Ephesians 1:18)
And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions [that were] under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. (Hebrews 9:15)
To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, (1st Peter 1:4)
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. (Romans 8:17)
But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:Â (1st Peter 2:9)
Antipas refused to blaspheme the name of God by denying His word. Yea, hath God said? You see the conflict of this third church was the battle over the words of God: the sharp sword with two edges. And as Naboth battled to maintain the words of God in the laws of inheritance, Antipas also became embroiled in maintaining his inheritance as a son of God and as a priest of God, and the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus which is the Law of liberty. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2) So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. (James 2:12)
And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;Â (Revelation 2:12) I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, [even] where Satan’s seat [is]: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas [was] my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.(Revelation 2:13)
Both Naboth and Antipas fought alone against Jezebel. Separated by centuries, the same conflict was repeated over and over again. Although Naboth was a Jew of the Old Testament and Antipas was a Christian of the New Testament their conflict with Jezebel/Satan revolved around the same issue: the issue of inheritance; one was a tangible inheritance and the other was a spiritual inheritance. Satan and his disguised agents are deeply buried (as within the nest of a stork) in the sanctuaries of worship diligently working to remove the understanding and the appropriation of God’s promises, and His eternal inheritance from His people. Although Antipas was murdered in the age of the church in Pergamos (approximate date 300 a. d. – 425 a. d.) which preceded the age of the church in Thyatira (approximate date 425 a. d. – 590 a. d.) in which Jezebel appears in name; the spirit of Jezebel came into the early church even before the church became fully organized. It was at the formation and formal organization of the church that it became recognized as corrupt, but the church was already corrupted by those who crept in unawares at the very beginning. The apostle John and James wrote about the current corruption of their age, warning us about corruption yet to come in our age through false brethren.
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. (Jude 1:4)
And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:Â (Galatians 2:4)
They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. (Titus 1:16)
The doubts began to surface at the very beginning of church history. Yea, hath God said? Questions concerning the deity of Christ, resurrection doubts, the relationship of the divine and human nature of Christ, the Holy Scriptures and their ecclesiastical authority examined and questioned, the beginning of philosophical teaching flooded into the infant church, the beginning of Church Councils reserved by invitation only for only the elite of the elite few, the seeds of laity and clergy divided the children of God into a spiritual caste system. This was the spirit of Jezebel building her stork nest as a mother caring for her tent in a successful attempt to remove the Holy Spirit of God from His rightful place in the church, and replace the Holy Spirit of God with men of renown. This article, however, is not about Church history, it is about Shinar . . . the land of Shinar . . . . the land of Confusion. Let’s move from Jezebel to the other woman, Athaliah, the daughter of Jezebel one of the two women (harlots) in Zechariah Chapter 5.
Athaliah became ruler of the two tribes of Judah through a politically arranged marriage that linked Ahab and Samaria (the northern ten tribes called Israel) to Jerusalem (the two southern tribes called Judah) that was beneficial for Israel but was disastrous for Judah. She was almost successful in annihilating ALL of the line of David, and the house of Judah except for one small child that was hidden from her trained assassins. This LINK is to an article about this boy king. It is documented twice that Athaliah was a murderer as was her mother. And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal. (2nd Kings 11:1) But when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal of the house of Judah. (2nd Chronicles 22:10)
The meaning of Athaliah’s name discloses the sovereignty of God in action. The three root meanings are ‘afflicted of God,’ ‘constrained of Jah,’ and ‘in due season for Jah.’ The evil fruit of Jezebel within her daughter was to accomplish the total annihilation of the nation of Israel. Jezebel’s mission was to remove Israel (as a nation) from the face of the earth, and by doing this, all of the promises of Moses and Israel’s inheritance would have ceased. For if the inheritance [be] of the law, [it is] no more of promise: but God gave [it] to Abraham by promise. (Galatians 3:18) She was to take away the inheritance of Naboth that was based on the inheritance given by God directly to the people of Israel. This was their inheritance: By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. (Hebrews 11:8) Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: (Exodus 19:5) And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel. (Exodus 19:6) This has always been the primary desired result of Satan to destroy this kingdom of priests and God’s holy nation. (The summary of Israel in the symbolism of the woman in Revelation Chapter 12 discloses this plan of annihilation.) However, Athaliah also failed in her assigned mission because she was ‘constrained by Jehovah.’ Her mission was to attack the kingship of Judah by killing all of the seed royal (all male children in the royal line), thus, defeating God’s promise of a Seed to come from the line of David, and from the tribe of Judah, the Christ, the Messiah. These two points of attack were and are the centers of Satan’s ‘hill to die on’: the nation of Israel, and the Messiah. This has not changed in our contemporary age, but there has been something that expands Satan’s attack plan: the Church and the Christ. Although Athaliah flooded the land of Judah with the worship of Baal, ‘in due season for Jah,’ God set it right, and she died at the ‘horse gate.‘ So they laid hands on her; and when she was come to the entering of the horse gate by the king’s house, they slew her there. (2nd Chronicles 23:15) The perfect place, and the appropriate place to end the life of this woman of political and idolatrous power at the gate that symbolized man’s trust in his own strength and power. Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because [they are] many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD! (Isaiah 31:1) And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother. (Haggai 2:22) This ‘horse gate‘ had the lingering odor of horse manure or dung as horses were continually transported only through this gate into the city. Athaliah died in horse dung, and her mother Jezebel became dung. Jezebel had been completely devoured by dogs except for her palms of her hands, her skull and her feet, and thus, Jezebel (as dog dung) was spread over a field of Jezreel.
And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands. (2nd Kings 9:35)
Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:Â (2nd Kings 9:36)
And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel. (2nd Kings 9:37)
The land of Shinar is the location of the final unified system of evil, and these two women, Jezebel and Athaliah are types that will play out spiritually and tangibly at the End Time and exemplify Satan’s two hit clever strategy of a tag team. Jezebel represents religion: a corrupt priesthood financially supported by a regal queen. (Revelation 18:7) Athaliah represents government and political corruptness unified through the worship of Baal/Satan. Although there is much more that can be written about Jezebel and her equally evil daughter Athaliah we must press forward. Jezebel and Athaliah may appear in the next article on Babylon, if the Holy Spirit of God leads in that direction.

Stork
Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind [was] in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven.
  The many tattered ends regarding . . . a woman . . . two women . . . harlots . . . one mother . . . Sodom . . . motherhood . . . . ephah . . . lead . . . stork . . . . between heaven and earth ALL culminate in And upon her forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Let’s pull on one of these threads and see where it leads us. Our next thread is stork! I feel like Indiana Jones with a machete cutting through what first appears to be tangled vines blocking the entrance into the temple where the chest with jewels is hidden, but instead of a machete I am wielding the sword of the word of God, and the tangled vines are not really tangled at all, so therefore, let us proceed not into a jungle, but into a field cultivated and fruitful. Onward . . . . Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind [was] in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven. These two women harlots are described as having wings of a stork; thus, they are connected to a flying bird: a stork. Interestingly, the Hebrew word ‘stork’ is feminine and takes on a ‘motherly’ or ‘maternal’ connotation. Along with this meaning we have the idea of ‘kindness,’ ‘piousness,’ and ‘goodness.’ You can understand why the stork has become connected with motherhood throughout the ages. There are also some added interests in the stork (depending on the family and species). They construct large nests because of their largeness in size and body weight. Some nest are six feet long and 10 feet deep. That is a very deep nest. Although they can imitate various bill clapping sounds, some storks rarely make any sound at all. They are migratory and carnivorous (small animals to fish, and locusts and insects) and have a diverse diet. Do you see any spiritual applications in these descriptions related to two women, and harlots? There are nineteen (19: 9+10) species of storks, so there will a variety of differences between them, but God is not writing a thesis or research paper about nineteen species of storks, He is using the stork to connect the commonality of this particular bird to the evil of these two women and to the MOTHER OF HARLOTS: BABYLON. Another interesting point is that the stork is not considered to be strictly monogamous, or faithful to its partner. Its loyalty is to its nesting site that is only used for one nesting season. With each nesting season there is a new nesting pair and a new nesting location. Now, THAT is interesting! I am chopping a path for you to travel forward . . . .
The first two mentions of stork is connected to being unclean and an abomination in the introduction in Leviticus 11:13 And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray, to the following list of birds, where the stork is mentioned among this list of unclean birds in Leviticus 11:19,And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. Then in Deuteronomy 14:12, Israel was told NOT to eat of the following list of birds But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray, and in verse 18, the stork is mentioned, And the stork, and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. God sees them as unclean and as an abomination, we see the long fluid lines of a neck (almost reptilian in profile) and we call it beautiful.
In the book of Psalms God adds more yet to this bird. The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted; (Psalm 104:16) Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house. (Psalm 104:17) Why did the Holy Spirit of God present us with a vast difference between birds that nest in the cedars of Lebanon in direct conflict with fir trees? Again, we read another layer beneath a layer: types within a type. Wakey . . . wakey. . . . don’t you dare fall asleep while reading this article! See . . . there is a distinct break in this phrase . . . as for the stork, the fir trees are her house. Did you ever stop here and think, storks do not (or rarely) nest in fir trees. In verse 17, birds make their nests, but the fir tree of the stork is not said to be a nest, but her house.
Side Note: The Fir Tree: In many sections of Scripture the fir tree is connected to evil, it also connects to Lucifer in the garden of God, to judgment, and to the Assyrian who connects to Nimrod and the Antichrist. I consider the study of the fir tree a spiritually heavy undertaking, therefore, and of course, at this time, and in this article, it ain’t goin’a happen. ♦ End of Side Note.

Her House – Her Tent – Her Home – Her Base
Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah? (Zechariah 5:10)
And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base. (Zechariah 5:11)
In this seventh and last documentation of Shinar we have a house, a tent, a home, a base of operation where the ephah (the container of the measurement of sin, the curse), the woman, the mother of harlots, planted her idolatrous sanctuary in the land of Shinar. The land of Shinar, the land of Nimrod, the first capital city of Shinar (Babel), the land of Confusion, the first place in the new world, after the flood, united around the foundation laid down by the mighty hunter Nimrod. This was, and is, the mystery of the collective birth of iniquity unified: its origin, its political and religious development, its symbolisms, and its objectives and plans. Although we read in Revelation 17:5, And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH — Her end is sure!
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. (2nd Thessalonians 2:7)
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. (2nd Thessalonians 2:15)
