Giants in the Earth – Part iii . . .

Giants in the Earth

Part iii

Genesis 6:1-7

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, (Genesis 6:1)

That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.(Genesis 6:2)

And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.(Genesis 6:3)

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:4)

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Genesis 6:5)

And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. (Genesis 6:6)

And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. (Genesis 6:7)

I suggest that you read the previous posts on Giants in the Earth, part i, and ii.When painting a picture, the background needs to be worked in first before brushing in the foreground, at least, that is how I approach watercolors.

The subject of giants in Genesis is one of contention, but there again, what is not? The focus should be on why many do not want to accept that these giants were actually humans. Believing that humanity is good is a belief not based on reality, nor based on what God tells us about humanity.

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.(Mark 10:18)

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23)

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.(Psalm 53:1)

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: (Romans 3:10)

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.(Psalm 14:1)

The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. (Psalm 14:2)

They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.(Psalm 14:3)

Many years ago, there was a comedian who had a routine that ended with these words, ‘the devil made me do it.’ There is some basis of truth in this, but I do not want to dissect this statement at this point. My main thought is that too many cannot accept that within themselves is enough sin to justify God judging them. Yes, the devil does act against men, but man also acts against himself, and somehow, as Adam, many cannot accept their responsibility in their own sin. Thus, they point to the devil, and create a false narrative that somehow outside of the human realm evil angels corrupted mankind through sexually reproducing and intermixing with the daughters of men. Why do many fall for the story that angels intermarried or sexually intermixed with the daughters of men? It is simple, ‘the devil made me do it.’ It is very difficult to accept the responsibility that God lays totally at the feet of all humanity. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.(Psalm 14:2) They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.(Psalm 14:3) It is far easier to say that these bad, bad, evil angels sexually reproduced and spawned evil into humanity. After all, we (mankind) are really not that bad, ‘the devil made me do it.’ Too many for too long have been swept into this fairy tale of angels becoming man. I am already devoting more words on this than I should be, however, allow me some wiggle room here. For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment. (2 Peter 2:4) Angels are in the spiritual realm of God’s creation, a realm of eternity where death has no present existence, where creatures cannot die. Angels were not created with the weakness of flesh, however, there were angels who sinned, and that is without controversy according to Scripture. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. (Hebrews 2:9) Christ, in His prepared body, was made in the likeness of flesh (without sin) so that He would be able to not only experience death, but that He would be able to conquer death, and through death destroy the one who had the power of death, the devil.Christ was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death. Angels cannot die. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;(Hebrews 2:14) Angels cannot die. This is an important issue with their supposedly ability to sexually mix with creatures who could die and did die. Yah . . . right . . . angels wanted to die so they mixed with humans. Get real! Even if they wanted to die, God had created angels separate from how He created mankind, they would not be able to die even if they wanted to. And believe me, they did not want to die. For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; (2 Peter 2:4) The angels that took part of the war in heaven by following their leader Lucifer were overcome by God and His faithful holy angels and were cast down to hell, and set into chains of darkness and they are there today, and at this very moment, in chains reserved for a coming judgment upon them. Only one rebellious angel was allowed to remain free, and that was Lucifer. (Just a side statement. There is a difference between angels, evil spirits, and demons, but this to is for another time and for another article). Lucifer (Satan) roams the earth still because, and only because, God is allowing this to play out for His purpose. Back to Genesis. Angels did not mingle with humans in Genesis Chapter 6. So sorry, but if you believe this whopper than maybe you should examine the reason why you are drawn to this fable of angels becoming man. This belief that angels cohabitated with the daughters of men is beyond being a false narrative: it borders on . . . I am going to say it . . . stupidity. (I do not think that I am being unkind, but maybe a little bit strong in my selection of words).

Men Are Not Angels

Chapter 6 of Genesis is the Man Chapter. It is all about man. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also [is] flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. (Genesis 6:3)

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually. (Genesis 6:5)

And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. (Genesis 6:6)

And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.(Genesis 6:7)

These [are] the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man [and] perfect in his generations, [and] Noah walked with God. (Genesis 6:9)

The previous article focused on the words ‘men’ and ‘man’ in verses 1-7. I suggest that you read that article. Now I am looking at the message that the Holy Spirit is showing us about mankind in the entire 6th Chapter of Genesis. The number six in Scripture is the number of man. It is no coincidence that the word ‘man’ is mentioned six times in the sixth Chapter. It is all about man. It is not about angels. God the Holy Spirit knows the difference between mankind and angels, you will not find the word ‘angels’ in this Chapter, nor will you find anything that even comes close to the fairy tale of angels intermarrying. I find it ludicrous to jump onto this fallacy. If it were possible for angels to marry (which it is not according to Christ) then there would have to be male and female in heaven, and there is not.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God (Matthew 22:29)

For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. (Matthew 22:30)

Who Where These Sons of God?

Men or Angels?

1.  That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. (Genesis 6:2)
2.  There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:4)
3.  Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. (Job 1:6)
4.  Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD. (Job 2:10)
5.  When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? (Job 38:7)

Scripture disclosed who the sons of God were. The phrase the sons of God is recorded  only five times in the Old Testament. Since the number five is the number of grace, as we examine each mention it is only through the grace of God that we are shown the truth.

1.  That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. (Genesis 6:2) In this first mention of the sons of God we also have another group of individuals called the daughters of men.  This is the beginning of the intermingling of two different groups of men designated by their SPIRITUAL differences.  The sons of God were of the line of Seth (sons of God, children of God, who worshipped God and called on His name) and the daughters of men were of the corrupted line of Seth who did not worship God, nor called on His name.

2.  There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:4) In the second documentation of the sons of God we discover a third group of individuals, giants in the earth, (this was the offspring of the clan of Cain). And this third group of the clan of Cain who had been cast far away from the rest of humanity had built a society based on idolatry and murder under their father Cain, they also began to sexually intermingle with the two lines of Seth until there was only one righteous man left from the line of Seth, Noah.

The next time that the phrase the sons of God is recorded, it is in the oldest biblical book known as the book of Job. It is in Job that we see that after the flood and before Abraham that God had set apart for Himself followers of the line of the Gentiles who God called the sons of God. The third and fourth mention of the sons of God takes place ON THE EARTH, it is NOT a scene in the heavens. How do we know the place? It all takes place on earth because scripture says, Now there was a day (Job 1:6) and Again there was a day (Job 2:10). Time only exists on earth . . . there was a day.

Satan’s favorite venue is where the righteous gathers. Chapter 3, verse 16 of the book Ecclesiastes profoundly states that iniquity was everywhere: under the sun AND IN THE PLACE of righteousness. And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, [that] wickedness [was] there; and the place of righteousness, [that] iniquity [was] there. Satan’s favorite place is wherever righteousness abounds. Satan’s preferred venue is wherever righteousness reigns . . . .  and the place of righteousness, [that] iniquity [was] there.

3.  Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. (Job 1:6)
4.  Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD. (Job 2:10)

The very last documentation of the phrase the sons of God is found in Job 38:7. Through this last mention, the Spirit of God draws us back BEFORE time and also connects to the future to the documentation of sons of God in the New Testament. Job 38:7 is the spiritual bridge that spans from pre-creation to the joy of fulfillment.

5.  When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? (Job 38:7) The morning stars are the created angels (the UNSEEN) AND the sons of God (UNSEEN yet SEEN through the eyes of the foreknowledge of God) are the heirs of salvation.

“This is one of the things that God foreordained BEFORE the creation, and at THAT time in His foreknowledge He saw those who would be joint heirs with Jesus Christ. The four verses in Chapter 38 in the book of Job describes a creation period before time, carefully consider verse 7 where the phrase sons of God is the last documentation of this phrase in the Old Testament. This last use of the words sons of God in Job is seen through the eyes of the foreknowledge of God describing these joint heirs with Jesus Christ. Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. (Job 38:4) Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? (Job 38:5) Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; (Job 38:6) When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Job 38:7) And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: (Hebrews 1:10)” (This quote is taken from an article by Michael Haigh called Turning Away, from the study in the book of Hebrews 10:26.)

Then the next time that we read about the sons of God is in the New Testament. Six times the Spirit of God describes the heirs of salvation. The Old Testament through this phrase discloses the corruption of the line of Seth, the sons of God, and the ruin of mankind. However, the very last mention of the sons of God reveals a new creation of man when through God’s foreknowledge they shouted for joy, the joy of God’s creation of the new man born again THROUGH the Heir of promise, the Heir, the Lord Jesus Christ. The following verses discloses the finality, the conclusion of the joy of the sons of God IN Christ.

1. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12)
2. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (Romans 8:14)
3. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. (Romans 8:19)
4. That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; (Philippians 2:15)
5. Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. (1st John 3:1)
6. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (1st John 3:2)

The conclusion: the sons of God in Genesis Chapter 6 and in Job 1:6 and 2:10 were NEVER angels.

Male and Female – Adam – Mankind

We are male and female here on earth joined in marriage by God to become united together as one unit under God the Creator of all. God set the uniqueness of the oneness of marriage between two distinct personalities and two different entities that were physically, mentally, and emotionally different from each other to strengthen the bond of oneness. And in this oneness God instructs us not only about humanity, but He instructs us about the spiritual: the oneness of the Godhead bodily.

The Church is symbolized by a marriage, by a bride and a groom, by a love relationship, by being IN Christ, and by being one with Christ. We (redeemed man, redeemed mankind) are united to Christ and with Christ and in Christ, therefore, God sees us (redeemed man) not as separate entities, but ONE. The GodMan (Jesus Christ) is totally different from the physical realm of mankind, yet in being different He willingly became made as man without sin to become one with man so that man could become one with Him.Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me. (Hebrews 10:5) In order to be the promised sacrificial lamb, Christ had to become man (sinless). Why did Christ have to become man? He took on the seed of Abraham, not the nature of Abraham (sin), nor the nature of angels (who could not die). He became man in order to die.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (Genesis 1:27)

And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. (Genesis 2:23)

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.(Genesis 2:24)

Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. (Genesis 5:2)

The last mention of male and female is recorded in Galatians 3:28. This verse completes the circle of oneness that began before the fall of Adam (mankind) in the garden of God with the union of male and female.

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:26)

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.(Galatians 3:27)

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.(Galatians 3:28)

This union of two becoming one was set by God in the beginning. The enemy of God (Satan) broadened the battlefield against God when he attacked this couple in the garden and from thereon instead of oneness it has become one against one. Only when God’s order is established in a marriage can there be a unified front for God against the adversary. The winning battle strategy of divide and conquer was first accomplished in the garden of God, and the descendants of Adam and Eve have struggled ever since, thus we have come to understand what the battle of the sexes really means.

The Seed of Man and the Nature of Angels

Chapter 6 of Genesis, the Chapter of man, teaches us much about man. The ‘sons of God’ versus the ‘daughters of men,’ the ‘giants in the earth’ (the offspring of Cain) influenced and controlled man. Mankind was overtaken with his own evil imaginations, and the result of this division within humanity cannot alter the judgment of God. Do not allow your understanding of sin and man to be influenced to think that outside spiritual forces became physical sexual objects to corrupt mankind. Satan and his angels cannot create, neither can they originate, they can only counterfeit; they cannot procreate, they can only imitate; they cannot inseminate, they can only intimidate. All of this (angels cohabiting with humans) is a settled point due to the fact that Scripture informs us that these angels lost the battle in the heavens and are confined to a place of hell and darkness waiting for their sure judgment. For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; (2 Peter 2:4) Our true battle is far beyond flesh and blood, we battle against true giants. We battle against the giant of sin, the giant of self, the giant of spiritual wickedness in high places. Do not go down the rabbit hole of the ‘giants in the earth’ being evil angels. This will only lead you away from the Word of God into the imaginary world of Harry Potter and into the universe of wizardry.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12)

This is neither a treatise on angels, nor is it an in-depth study of mankind, however, the Word of God is very explicit when dealing with man and angels. There is a distinct scriptural difference between ‘nature of angels’ and ‘seed of man’. Angels have a nature of their own, a uniqueness, a creation not duplicated in other creatures. Man is noted by his being of a ‘seed’ (sperm). Angels are never referred to in the context of being ‘seed.’ Angels cannot reproduce themselves, and they cannot create more of themselves. They cannot add more to their numbers. I can only think of a single word in referring to angels: static. They are static in that their powers and their nature are not transferable. Herein is one point in which mankind differs because man has ‘seed’ he is able to copulate and increase in numbers, he can reproduce more of his own kind.

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, [and] the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed [is] in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. (Genesis 1:11)

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (Genesis 3:15)

For verily he took not on [him the nature of] angels; but he took on [him] the seed of Abraham.(Hebrews 2:16)

Repeat, and repeat again and again: in order to save man from the curse of sin and death Christ had to come in order to die.

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;(Ephesians 6:14)

And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. (Ephesians 6:15)

For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. (Ephesians 6:16)

Let’s get real here. I totally understand that we are really flying partially blinded by the fact that we exist in an entirely different realm and what little we know comes from bits of information that Scripture allows us to see.

Let’s look at verses 3, 5, 6, 7, 9: man is flesh (flesh, bones, blood, spirit, soul) (Adam). Man is continually evil in his heart (his evilness does not come from an outside source). God’s heart ached over man (so much so that He could only express it in terms that mankind could understand) He was sorry that He had made man on the earth. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. (Genesis 6:6)

Side Note: For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.(Jeremiah 4:28)

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?(Numbers 23:19) God’s words, and God’s purposes, and His plans are settled. He does not turn, nor alter His course, and whatsoever He has determined He accomplishes. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can stop the Almighty God from fulfilling His judgments. ♦ End of Side Note.

God does not record in Genesis Chapter 6 His creation of angels and their sin, but later in Scripture (at just the right time) the Holy Spirit uncloaks the origin of sin and the part that angels played in their sin of rebellion and fighting against their Creator. (Ezekiel 28, and Isaiah 14) Chapter 6 of Genesis NEVER mentions angels, it is ALL about MAN. Then in Genesis 6:7 God states that He will judge man (not angels) and destroy man, and beasts. He covers all who will be destroyed. Then the last mention of man in Chapter 6 reveals the grace of God, and a man who walked with God. That pretty much sums up mankind as a whole: evil heart and evil imaginations worthy of judgment, but in verse 9 at the end of mankind there was one man who found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Genesis Chapter 6 is totally about man, and God lays His case before us on His righteous need to destroy all of mankind except for 8 individuals because of one man that found grace in His eyes.

— Now Finally We Get To The Giants —

Giants Before the Flood and Giants After the Flood

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.(Genesis 6:4)

For those of you who are still paying attention, notice the heading, what do I mean about giants before the flood and giants after the flood? If there were giants before the flood and everyone died except for 8 people, then how did giants live to get to the other side of the flood? Genetics. You don’t have to have a degree in the study of genetics to figure this out. Only eight people were in the ark: Noah, Noah’s wife, Noah’s three sons (Shem, Ham, and Japheth) and the sons’ wives. One of these three wives had to be genetically connected to the clan of Cain. We are not told anything about Noah’s wife or the wives of the three sons, but we are most certainly instructed by the written word of God about the three sons of Noah. Consequently, I am going to target the son who was connected to the giants in the earth after the flood as being Ham, and Ham’s wife as a member of Cain’s clan brought unaware into the family of Noah, and thus, into the new world order. (Giantism is not always obvious in every generation).

These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. (Genesis 6:9)

And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.(Genesis 6:10)

But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee.(Genesis 6:18)

Noah was the only one from the eight whom God called a just man and perfect in his generations, because Noah was of the line of Seth and remained faithful and true to His Creator and walked with God. Noah was the last man that God called a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God (Genesis 6:9) until Abraham. Later in Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us prophetically concerning Shem, Ham, and Japheth. But this article is on giants. Where did they originate from? What was their purpose? How did the enemy of God employ these giants of men? If you are confused at this point, I again suggest that you read articles i and ii in this series (so that maybe you can become even more confused).  🙂 🙂 🙂

Ham and the Giants

Let us connect Ham to the giants. You will not find the name of Ham or the words ‘giant’ or ‘giants’ in the New Testament, and for a very good reason. I throw that tidbit out now to draw on it later maybe in another article. (This is called ‘a hook’). Let us begin with Ham. There are 16 verses where the word Ham is mentioned and there is a total of 17 mentions of Ham. What does Scripture have to say about Ham directly? The first mention of Ham is in Genesis 5:32 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Since Noah had only one wife, and his children were all born when he was five hundred years old, they could have been triplets. Noah was five hundred years old, also could very well mean that he was in the range of the fifth hundred year of his life.  These three sons would be the three streams of mankind representing in the prophecy of their geographical journeys and settlements on the earth. These three streams have been called ‘races,’ and/or ‘ethnic groups and many other terms and classifications, however, God’s Word is quite clear, and His Word settles all forms of cultural classifications in man’s attempt to classify mankind into subsets. God’s classification in Genesis was not based on color but based on His geographical separation from each other. Each of Noah’s sons would build a separate culture. Man’s standard to classify mankind into groups is almost laughable, but sad, because man and his standards cannot even determine whether there is a difference between a male (XY) and a female (XX).How far we have fallen from God’s Word that man cannot even reason the most basic fact.

Back to Ham . . . . there were three sons: maybe triplets (or maybe not). And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. These three sons were the three fountains from which all three races of mankind developed as there were three spiritual fountains (as I mentioned in previous articles). I repeat, there was the line of Seth, there was the line of Cain, and there was the line of Adam and Eve in the brothers and sisters of Seth.

Ham – More Than a Geographical Location

Ham, the second son mentioned in the line of Noah, is not only geographically mentioned as being Egypt as the land of Ham, but Ham is much more than a mere nation state location, it also takes in surrounding areas and nations. Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. (Psalm 105:23) They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham. (Psalm 105:27) Ham is also noted as having (at a previous time) lived in the area of Judah. The sons of Simeon(one of the twelve tribes of Israel) were, Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Shaul:(1 Chronicles 4:24) And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for they of Ham had dwelt there of old.(1 Chronicles 4:40)This next reference is to show the Simeon’s inheritance was also connected to the inheritance of Judah. And the second lot came forth to Simeon, [even] for the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families: and their inheritance was within the inheritance of the children of Judah.(Joshua 19:1)

Ham also settled into areas south of Babel, and into Asia and Africa. These early Hamites populated Mesopotamia, and the regions nearby that we recognize today as Jordan, Sinai Peninsula, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Kuwait. This background material is merely to show that Ham got around. Hamites always get around. The sin of Cain, the Cainites, the sin of Ham and the Hamites teaches us that evil infiltrates into every area of life, even into the inheritance of the children of Judah.

This would be a good break here to direct you to another article about Cain. Read the entire article to see how Cain infiltrated into the inheritance of Judah. CLICK HERE.

The Holy Spirit of God directs our eyes to the descendants of Cain, or the clan of Cain, that they are also connected to the inheritance of Judah. A very basic principle is that we reproduce after our own kind.

Ham is connected to the giants through his son Canaan. The very first mention of Canaan is recorded in Genesis 9:18. Isn’t it extremely interesting that the Holy Spirit of God directs us to one particular son of Ham: Canaan. Cush (another son of Ham) had an interesting son by the name of Nimrod, but hopefully we will write about Nimrod later (maybe in this article or maybe in another article). I do not yet have liberty to write about Nimrod at this point. Now, onto Canaan, And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham [is] the father of Canaan. (Genesis 9:18)

Ham – A Land of Giants

And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,(Genesis 14:5)

The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; (Deuteronomy 2:10)

Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims. (Deuteronomy 2:11)

(That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims; (Deuteronomy 2:20)

And the coast of Og king of Bashan, which was of the remnant of the giants, that dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei, (Joshua 121:4)

Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people [is] greater and taller than we; the cities [are] great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.(Deuteronomy 1:28)

The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; (Deuteronomy 2:10) Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims.(Deuteronomy 2:11)

These references are just a few references on giants who existed on the earth that the children of Israel confronted in many battles. Notice also that time changes words, and terms. In Genesis 14:5 one particular group of giants were called Zuzims who lived in Ham. Where was Ham? Obviously, and I only use the word obviously because the other locations mentioned in Genesis 14:5 were all areas east of the Jordan, these Zuzims also had to be east of Jordan. Please note that these Zuzims were not only there, but the giants of the son of Ham had spread throughout the region of what we term ‘the middle east’ and into Egypt. The people of giants were not totally regional, but they spread out into vast territories. Although the giants were called by different names, and lived in different areas they were one people of the tribe of Ham.  In Genesis they were called Zuzims, and later in time they were known as Zamzummims in Deuteronomy 2:20.

The Sons of HamThe Enemies of God and of His People

Let us return to Ham and the importance of his offspring . . . . And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. (Genesis 10:6)

Cush

And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.(Genesis 10:7)

And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. (Genesis 10:8)

He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.(Genesis 10:9)

And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.(Genesis 10:10)

Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah, (Genesis 10:11)

And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.(Genesis 10:12)

Mizraim

And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,(Genesis 10:13)

And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.(Genesis 10:14)

Canaan

And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,(Genesis 10:15)

And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,(Genesis 10:16)

And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,(Genesis 10:17)

And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. (Genesis 10:18)

And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha. (Genesis 10:19)

These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations. (Genesis 10:20)

I am pretty sure that many of you just clicked away when you saw this list of names, however, when I see a list of names in Scripture, I get excited, anxious in anticipation of what God is about to reveal to me. Fight off the urge to be like those around you in their ignorance of the Word of God.

Phut

The first thing that I noticed is still a mystery to me, nevertheless, I did notice the absence of one son of Ham and that is Phut. This son is not in this listing of genealogy at all. In fact, there are only two mentions of Phut in all of Scripture: in Genesis 10:6 and the last mention in Ezekiel 27:10. If you read the entire Chapter 27 of Ezekiel you will not only see the connection to Ezekiel 28 which is about the rebellion of Lucifer, but we see the connection to the world that we exist in today. The people of Phut were warriors for the nation of Persia, they brought their fighting skills and their renown and their handsome celebrity status to the fighting forces of Persia, and to those who purchased Persia’s military. They of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in thine army, thy men of war: they hanged the shield and helmet in thee; they set forth thy comeliness. (Ezekiel 27:10) We did find out something about Phut after all. Do not ask why we are here writing about people who lived thousands, and thousands, and thousands of years ago, you say, Who cares about Phut! Phut is your enemy today for he is of the line of Cain through Ham. By the way one of the roots of the name Phut is ‘to bow,’ ‘to serve’ as in affliction. He could be referred to as a mercenary. Phut and Put and Libya are connected because the meaning of their names is the same. Phut is thought to be the father of those who first peopled a district in Egypt that bordered Libya. There is much more about Phut in Ezekiel 27:10, however, I must stay on course.

The Giants – The Personification of Cain through Ham through Canaan

And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,(Genesis 10:15)

And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite, (Genesis 10:16)

And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,(Genesis 10:17)

And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.(Genesis 10:18)

Please stay awake!!!! Canaan has always been the enemy of God and of God’s people. Know your enemies for they are many. I consider this topic of giants to be vast in scope, and a bit difficult to trace in its flow through the pages of Scripture. Let’s take it slow and e – a – s – y. Canaan was the grandson of Noah; thus, Canaan was the 12th away from Adam. Isn’t that weird, why was he not the 13th away from Adam? That would make more sense in an earthly setting and with an earthly mind. It is Sidon (in the line of Canaan) who is the 13th away from Adam.  But it is Nimrod who is the 13th from Adam in the line of Cush. And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. (Genesis 10:8) He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. (Genesis 10:9) Well, surprise, surprise here I am writing about Nimrod unexpectedly. Don’t you see it? Of course, Nimrod had to be the thirteenth away from Adam. The number of rebellion, the number of thirteen, is the number of man in his attempt to destroy the works of God. Nimrod the man of renown. The study of the four sons of Ham is endless, so much to see, and so much to comprehend. I am fighting to stay focused on Canaan and the giants.

The Line of Giants through Canaan

Canaan – a traffiker (a slave trader), to humiliate, to subjugate

Sidon – hunting, a hunter (of men)

  Heth – a terror

The Jebusite – he will be trodden down

The Amorite – a sayer, publicity

The Girgashite – a stranger of drawing near

The Hivite – showers of life, livers, live-giving, a villager

The Arkite – my gnawing, a tusk

The Sinite – thorn – clay – mire

The Arvadite – I shall break loose – a refuge?

  The Zemarite – double fleece

The Hamathiteenclosure of wrath – fortress ?

The Word of God opens to us the way of the giants. The Spirit of God lays before all to see how Satan works. The lay of the land is opened to us, the landscape is painted, Canaan, the son of Ham, the carrier of the seed of the clan of Cain spreads his enormous shadow over the lands of the east, over the land of Shinar, over the land of the south, over the lands that would become the inheritance of the people of God. This clan of Cain became a race of giants overspreading and taking control over his brothers. The clan of Cain becomes known through many names and through many affiliations. From one man, Ham, to a tribe of Canaan, to many peoples (not nations yet, but soon to become kingdoms over men). See how Satan works.

When the people of Israel were developing into a nation under the leadership of Moses and Aaron, they first encountered a race of people of gigantic size which was recorded in the book of Deuteronomy and later in the book of Joshua. The battles that Israel fought under Moses and Joshua were most often against the giants in the land. The tragic part is that Israel did not finish the fight, they won the physical battles, but they lost the spiritual battles by not totally destroying their enemy but allowed them to remain in the land.

The Trail of the Giants

A little summary always helps. The giants were called Zuzims (‘roving creatures,’ ‘prominent,’ ‘strong’), Emims (‘terrors’), Zamzummims (‘intriguers,’  ‘murmurers’) Rephaims (‘the dead,’ ‘giants,’ ‘healers,’ ‘strong’), and Anakims (‘long-necked,’ ‘giant’). The spiritual meaning in these names is just amazing. Their physical appearance speaks volumes of their spiritual makeup being of the clan of Cain.

The first time that we are made aware of giants, of course, is in our section of Genesis Chapter 6, verse 4, notice it is the number of man (6), and the number of the world (4). Spiritually, I see the message from the Holy Spirit directing us to fully comprehend that whenever the abnormality of sin is allowed to grow and flourish unimpeded then there can only be one result and that is the world then becomes totally corrupted by more sinful aberrant and deviant influences. Scripture teaches us all about this through the battles, successes, and failures of the nation of Israel when they first encountered the giants in the land.

Israel (under Joshua ‘savior’) won battle after battle against the giants in the land, however, they were not able to fully claim victory because they refused to complete the directive that God had commanded them. They left a remnant of giants in the land. Israel settled into a comfort zone, but the battle against sin and evil is never over. The enemy may put a smile on its face, the enemy may soften its voice and tone, the enemy may join with you in some endeavor, the enemy may change its rhetoric, the enemy may use biblical language, the enemy may do good works, but the enemy is always the enemy. Because of Israel’s settling into their inheritance, they forgot all about the battle, they were tired of the battle, they wanted peace and they wanted to finally enjoy some R & R. The clan of Cain slowly began to settle into the valleys of Israel and formed strongholds, they gained in number and in a semblance of national power within the very framework of Israel. From Joshua to David, the giants were always there, growing and gaining strength. Joshua began to remove the giants out of the land, however, Israel had to face them again and again. The famous confrontation between Goliath, the giant of Gath fighting for the Philistines, and David occurred approximately in the range of 396 to 426 years after Joshua. (I am not going to spend hours and hours over the difference of maybe thirty years). I only mention this to show the time span through the many years that the giants existed within the land of Israel, or on its borders. These giants, through time, became mercenaries and joined in the forces of the enemies of Israel.

The word ‘giants’ (plural of giant) is recorded 13 times, in a total of 11 verses in the Old Testament, and the word ‘giant’ is mentioned 8 times. Neither the word ‘giant’ or ‘giants’ are mentioned in the New Testament. We see in the Old Testament that we are first introduced to ‘giants’ (the plural) a group or a clan. Then later in the Old Testament these giants then take on individual names, and personalities. First comes the unveiling of a problem, then when unchecked this problem takes on a more personal problem, it becomes an individual, it becomes closer to you, and herein is the problem. Then these adversaries seek out other enemies and they fight together against their common foe. This is how the enemies of nations form, and this is how the giants of sin form alliances with others to fight against the Christian and Christianity. If a nation cannot admit to, or see, the total invasion force within, then when this invasion force becomes personalized within then this nation has lost a major advantage in the battle. You cannot allow the enemy to become personal. The Christian has nothing in common with the enemies of Christ.

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14)

Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;(Exodus 34:15) And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods. (Exodus 34:16)

For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass. (Ezra 9:2)

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. (Ephesians 5:11)

The principle of separation was the first principle given in the Word of God. And it has been the first mark of obedience or disobedience since the beginning of time. This principle has not been withdrawn nor changed. It was then followed up by God separating Cain from his family. The enemy cannot be allowed to intermingle, for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? The enemy should not be allowed to become personalized because it is in this personalization that the enemy is seen as (erroneously) having the same values and same beliefs. It is at this point that there is no discernment or distinction of what is true and what is false. Whether it is nations or Christianity, how can opposites agree on anything when their paths are so different, when one walks a path going south, and the other walks a path going north, there can be no agreement between the two. No, there are not many ways to heaven. No, there is only one God, and He is the Lord Jesus Christ. Can two walk together, except they be agreed? (Amos 3:3)

The enemy of all nations, and especially the enemy of the Christian, does not hide in the shadows, but hides its motives and its true goals in the open brightness of its surroundings because this brightness blinds the eyes of the simple, and the unsuspecting, and then confuses the easily led and manipulated. That is why, for the unsuspecting professor of Christianity, the enemy often hides in the open: religious leadership, religious teachers, preachers, theologians and the saddest part is that the enemy often sits down right next to you on the same pew. This enemy will smile and speak fair words of religion, and words of positive thinking, but void of the Holy Spirit of God. A positive attitude, and positive thinking is not the same as positive action! And positive action is heartfelt repentance, and a hunger for the words of the Word of God, a positive action is actually living the Word of God and growing in the Word of God. Giants there, giants here, giants everywhere, discernment is essential for the Christian, and the Word of God is truly your sword. Study to understand the Word of God, pray to be led by the Spirit of God in the Word of God, learn to use the Word of God, and always believe the Word of God: this is positive action for the child of God.

But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrews 5:14)

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. (1 Corinthians 16:13)

(For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (2 Corinthians 10:4)

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (Ephesians 6:10)

I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him [that is] from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. (1 John 2:14)

Giants in the Earth, part iv will follow soon (maybe soon, or maybe not so soon — it all depends on how many times the doorbell rings, the phone rings, the dogs need tending too, or the cat needs some attention, or . . . . 🙂  🙂
