The Coat
Part 7
And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. (1st Samuel 17:38)
INTRODUCTION
The previous article was based on the same verse, but the subject was SAUL. This current post will be about David and Saul’s coat of mail. It is usually at the beginning of each post that I suggest to you that you read the previous post or posts. Knowing that many readers will not follow my suggestions, to make it easier for you, CLICK HERE and you will be safely redirected to the section simply titled . . . The Coat.
The enemies of God . . . that would be ALL of mankind EXCEPT for those of FAITH known as the born-again ones and called the children and sons of God . . . also included in the category of enemies of God are RELIGIONISTS and the world Church. These enemies of God love to place on every Christian the armor of Saul. Saul’s armor was the same armor as the enemies of Saul. When all on the battlefield wear the same armor, it becomes almost impossible to distinguish the enemy from ‘the good guys.’

Lucifer’s Coat
Lucifer’s garments are described in Ezekiel 28, verse 13. Note the number thirteen. The beginning of the description of Lucifer’s covering began in verse NUMBER 13.
Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. (Ezekiel 28:13)
Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. (Ezekiel 28:14)
Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. (Ezekiel 28:15)
By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. (Ezekiel 28:16)
Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. (Ezekiel 28:17)
Why did the Holy Spirit of God write about Lucifer’s covering with such detail? It is often said that the devil is in the details. This idiom connects two causes: lawyers who specialize in the deconstruction of details: the professional detailist of detailism . . . I think I just made up two words . . . and the other cause stems from a truism that no matter how simple a plan may be, complexities often surface through a small detail. That is why legal documents contain means to readdress both facts and fiction, simply because legal documents are written by sinful man for sinful man seeking ways to redirect responsibility. However, the details in Ezekiel 28:13 was written by the PERFECT Holy Spirit of God to connect to the holy garments of the earthly first high priest of Israel (Aaron) that was first described in the book of Exodus Chapter 28. Again, notice the numbers . . . Ezekiel Chapter 28 and Exodus Chapter 28. There are NO coincidences in Scripture.
● And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons. (Ezekiel 28:1)
And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty. (Ezekiel 28:2)
And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office. (Ezekiel 28:3)
And these are the garments which they shall make; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office. (Ezekiel 28:4)
And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen. (Ezekiel 28:5)
And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue, and of purple, of scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cunning work. (Ezekiel 28:6)
● And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work; after the work of the ephod thou shalt make it; of gold, of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine twined linen, shalt thou make it. (Ezekiel 28:15)
● And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row. (Ezekiel 28:17)
And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond. (Ezekiel 28:18)
And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst. (Ezekiel 28:19)
And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be set in gold in their inclosings. (Ezekiel 28:20)
Just in case anyone misses the purpose and the description in Exodus Chapter 28, the Holy Spirit of God informs us FOUR times that this holy garment of glory and beauty was specifically made for the PRIESTHOOD. The phrase in the priest’s office is recorded in Exodus 28:1, 3, 4, and 41. (To those who may have memory problems it is very easy to remember the connection between the PRIESTHOOD of Aaron and Lucifer’s role in the priesthood in God’s spiritual heavenly realm. Both Bible books begin with the letter E, and both Chapters are numbered 28. I use these memory tools to aid my memory brain chip.)

Lucifer’s Counterfeit Garments
The Coat of Mail
And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. (1st Samuel 17:38)
Armor is one of Satan’s many disguises. Satan wears many masks; he is the devil of disguises and IN disguise he excels at counterfeiting. His most masterful mask was to convince mankind that he does not exist. Since, the person of FAITH and the believer of the word of God KNOWS that Satan exists, the next best method to overcome FAITH is to persuade the person of FAITH to put on the ARMOR of Saul, the coat of mail.
The coat of mail that Saul attempted to place on David was his own personal armor. Saul was not a person of FAITH, therefore, his armor had to be similar to the enemies armor: natural, physical, worldly and visibly SEEN and made by human hands and designed by human minds. This type of armor always contains a certain amount of failure and weakness built into its framework because it is constructed on a fallacy that man without God is strong, powerful and therefore victorious.
The Christian has inherited a WEAK and EMACIATED Church because the weapons that the Church has promoted for centuries and decades have removed the presence of the Holy Spirit of God from its operations and ministries of evangelism. However, many Church attendees cannot see this WEAK and EMACIATED specimen called the CHURCH because their pews are soft and comfortable, their preachers are soft and comfortable, their surroundings are soft and comfortable, their song screens are fun, their million dollar sound and video systems are the envy of other organizations, and their plays are professionally staged, and their many diverse Bibles are also filled with soft and comfortable words that reflect meaningless values that the dregs of society desires. The activities of this weak and emaciated church are the envy of other religions. The profit and loss scheme of the world Church are imitated by cults and governments. Now with all this going for the world Church today, why would they believe that they are WEAK and EMACIATED? Scripture has much to say about the world church of our era. The book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ in Chapter 3, verses 14 thru 32 describes the world Church of today. Ask yourself, as you read, What do I fellowship with, and who do I fellowship with? Is the knowledge of the holy taught and sought or is Church doctrine taught or are social issues substituted for knowledge of the holy? Bundles of joy desperately NEED to personally KNOW and to EXPERIENCE the word of God.
And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; (Revelation 3:14)
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. (Revelation 3:15)
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. (Revelation 3:16)
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: (Revelation 3:17)
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. (Revelation 3:18)
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. (Revelation 3:19)
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20)
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. (Revelation 3:21)
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. (Revelation 3:22)

FAITH and CONFLICT
And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. (1st Samuel 17:38) Faith and Conflict are twins separated by birth.
And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. (1st Samuel 17:39)
Christians are aware of the many verses of encouragement and verses that speak of battle and spiritual weapons, but KNOWING verses and LIVING those verses are two extremes in the walk of FAITH. Sometimes that ‘walk’ of FAITH can be a ‘stroll’ or it can be a ‘crawl’ or even a ‘dash,’ but no matter where you are in your FAITH journey the one CONSTANT is the realization that with FAITH comes CONFLICT. FAITH and CONFLICT are twins separated by birth. (Consider Jacob and Esau.) Faith come by supernatural birth and conflict through natural birth.
The baby Christian sees ALL through the eyes of JOYFUL NEWNESS of LIFE, and so it should be. Sometimes there is no one there to inform this bundle of joy that since CONFLICT is inevitable that proper preparation to withstand CONFLICT must begin immediately. Joy in newness of life will ALWAYS be with the new born again ones and THAT is where the enemy will strike. The removal of JOY in the NEWNESS OF LIFE will strike as an arrow to the heart of the bundle of joy.
I write from personal experience . . . the bundle of joy can’t wait to tell the world all about JOY in the NEWNESS OF LIFE, but they do so without a SWORD. Yep, ever see a baby with a sword? More times than not they wound their own selves simply because they do not know how to wield a sword. Of course, I speak of the sword as The Word of God. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:17) Securely protected with the helmet of salvation where nothing and no one can penetrate into the control center of the NEWNESS OF LIFE of salvation, the sword of the Spirit is where the bundle of joy MUST BEGIN to prepare for a LIFELONG BATTLE against SIN, the WORLD, and the DEVIL.
Sometimes and probably most times the CONFLICT will come quickly, too quickly for the bundle of joy to even recognize the source behind the arrows of hatred. Family, friends and especially so-called brethren in the FAITH will be used by the adversary to remove your JOY. How can a bundle of joy properly prepare? The word of God is your sword, the word of God is your shield, the word of God is your comfort, the word of God is TRUE, therefore, CLING to the written word of God as you CLING to the Living Word of God.
● Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (Ephesians 6:16)
● For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (1st John 5:4) Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? (1st John 5:5)
● By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, (2nd Corinthians 6:7)
● In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, (Ephesians 1:13)
● Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; (Ephesians 6:14)
● Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2nd Timothy 2:15)
DO NOT PUT ON UNPROVEN ARMOR. DO NOT WEAR THE SAME COAT AS THE ENEMY. Saul’s coat of mail covered a FAITHLESS vain person. There is the coat of mail and there is the garment of beauty and glory. Which one should ‘the bundle of joy’ seek to be clothed with? In order to distinguish the difference between the coat of mail and the garment of beauty and glory it is urgently needful for the young Christian to become a workman, a warrior, and skillful in the things of FAITH.
Skillfulness in the things of FAITH requires TRUSTING in the Spirit of God. With SALVATION comes REGENERATION and with REGENERATION comes REVELATION and with REVELATION comes MORE REVELATION and MORE FAITH added to faith in the things of FAITH. How does the Holy Spirit of God enrich the child of JOY? The bundle of joy becomes strengthened and fortified through the REVELATIONS within the written word of God. For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
Tried and proven FAITH in the journey of faith to faith becomes a mountain built on the ROCK OF FAITH. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (Romans 1:17) The mountain of FAITH is no easy climb. As the trail of FAITH reveals more of the righteousness of God, the winds of adversity become stronger. There is the rejection of family and the falling away of weathervane friends, and even conflict with brethren. It is not hatred from the world that the young Christian is wounded. Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. (1st John 11:26) The deepest wounds come from the rejection of family and from false brethren. [In] journeyings often, [in] perils of waters, [in] perils of robbers, [in] perils by [mine own] countrymen, [in] perils by the heathen, [in] perils in the city, [in] perils in the wilderness, [in] perils in the sea, [in] perils among false brethren; (2nd Corinthians 11:26) Paul was physically, emotionally and mentally wounded many times, and he was constantly spiritually attacked BUT NEVER was Paul so spiritually wounded that he could not be mightily used by God.
● In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. (2nd Corinthians 11:27)
● Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; (1st Corinthians 4:11)
● But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, (2nd Corinthians 6:4)
In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; (2nd Corinthians 6:5)
By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, (2nd Corinthians 6:6)
By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, (2nd Corinthians 6:7)
By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true; (2nd Corinthians 6:8)
As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; (2nd Corinthians 6:9)
As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things. (2nd Corinthians 6:10)
Your CONFLICT can come from one or many avenues of trials. The apostle Paul wrote of his thorn in the flesh as his physical conflict in Galatians Chapter 4:13, 14 and 15; 2nd Corinthians 12:7 -10.
● Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. (Galatians 4:13)
And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. (Galatians 4:14)
Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me. (Galatians 4:15)
●And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. (2nd Corinthians 12:7)
For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. (2nd Corinthians 12:8)
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2nd Corinthians 12:9)
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. (2nd Corinthians 12:10)

The COUNTERFEIT Armor Labeled TRUTH and FAITH
And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. (1st Samuel 17:38)
Satan is an expert at JOY removal, but JOY is not only an emotion for the bundle of JOY in the NEWNESS OF EVERLASTING LIFE. Joy is one of the many proofs of new birth. Another proof of the JOY of the NEWNESS OF A NEW LIFE is the unsatiable DESIRE for the word of God. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. (1st Peter 2:2) Notice the numbers! The number two represents witness. In 1st Peter 2:2 God through His Spirit witnesses that the bundles of joy WILL hunger for and yearn for the sincere milk of the word. This desire may wain at times BUT IT WILL NEVER CEASE.
Satan is also an expert at removing the word of God from the bundle of joy. Time constraints, work responsibilities, family requirements and even too MUCH and TOO MANY Church activities can be tools to remove the word of God from the bundle of joy. Priorities and responsibilities and guilt are ALL used to remove the word of God from the hands of Christians. What is Satan’s ‘modus operandi? KEEP’EM BUSY! This method of distraction deepens WEAKNESS not only politically, but it also works in RELIGION and in the things of God. KEEP’EM SO BUSY that the bundles of joy will attach themselves to anything and everything that are falsely labeled with the words ‘FAITH and TRUTH.’ KEEP’EM SO BUSY that there is NO time for solitary study of the word of God. By KEEPING THEM SO BUSY the newborn babes and the old born babes will relinquish their Bibles in exchange for meaningless activities labeled as ‘Church fellowship,’ and ‘faith seminars,’ ‘revival retreats’ and ‘ministries’ without number. Substituting a ‘Daily Meditation Pamphlet’ for the Bible is a poor excuse for the time constrained and the lazy Christian. Fellowship is good, ministries are good, helping the community is good, social services are good BUT WHAT DOES GOD REQUIRE OF YOU AND FROM YOU?
Satan has taken the concepts of FAITH and TRUTH and has made them a labor of works. Satan will never STOP the Christian from doing good works, for as long as the Christian is BUSY working then the bundle of joy is kept from the knowledge of God. The knowledge of God builds understanding of the Lord Jesus Christ. Knowledge for the sake of knowledge is merely information, but the knowledge of God brings more GRACE and gives more PEACE and adds more JOY. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, (2nd Peter 1:2)
● For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. (Hosea 6:6)
● O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable [are] his judgments, and his ways past finding out! (Romans 11:33)
● Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak [this] to your shame. (1st Corinthians 15:34)
● Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (2nd Corinthians 10:5)
● That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; (Colossians 1:10)
● And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (John 17:3)
Through the knowledge of God comes love for God. Through the knowledge of God comes strength through weakness. Through the knowledge of God comes fruitful service. Through the knowledge of God comes understanding the hope that is set before you. Through the knowledge of the holy comes freedom from the bondage of the fear of death. Through the knowledge of God comes JOY.
● But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, (Galatians 5:22)
● Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see [him] not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: (1st Peter 1:8)
● For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. (Romans 14:17)
Notice the requirement to Israel in Deuteronomy 10:12, And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul . . . fear the LORD thy God . . . walk in all his ways . . . love him and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul. Somehow man wants to serve first. Why is that? However, before service comes FEAR and reverence of God, and before service comes the walk of faith, walk in all his ways. Before service comes LOVE HIM. In order to be of SERVICE to God one must fear the LORD thy God . . . walk in all his ways . . . AND love him.
Do you see the spiritual connection of Saul’s armor being placed on David? Satan has used this same method of placing worldly armor on children of God. The very first thing that bundles of JOY desire to do is to SERVE God, but without the proper equipment they will become weak and unfruitful vessels and thens, discouraged and thus unable to discern both good and evil.
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. (Hebrews 5:12)
For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. (Hebrews 5:13)
But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrews 5:14)
Newborn ones, the bundles of joy, CAN SERVE, but instead of a sword, first they should try to manage a dagger. Carry what you can bear. As you GROW in the knowledge of God you will be able to bear more, and hear more, and see more, discern more and understand more of the things of the holy.

UNDERSTANDING the SPIRITUAL CONFLICT
THE TRIED and PROVEN WEAPON
And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. (1st Samuel 17:38)
And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. (1st Samuel 17:39)
Saul armed David. There are many lessons and many experiences that the newborn bundle of joy will be confronted with. NEVER EVER allow another to place their selected weapons of service on you. God has formed and designed specific weapons JUST FOR YOU. Every person on a battlefield has their own personal proven weapons of THEIR training. A successful battle uses many weapons: there is the weapon of aggression, the weapon of defense, the weapon of deflection, the weapon of distraction, the weapon of fear, the weapon of intimidation, the hidden weapon and the weapon of confusion. All those on the battlefield have been trained as specialists in various weaponry. The horseman differs from the chariot driver. The archers differ from those of the spear. The spiritual conflict employs the same methods and techniques as those in a physical conflict. As Christian workmen and warriors each one has been given different gifts. Many have one role, others have dual roles and through the journey of FAITH many have been called on to handle and bear weapons of different sizes and weights, however, the more weapons that one is familiar with, the more battles you will be called to.
A difficult lesson for the young bundle of joy in warfare to learn is NEVER allowing a Saul (a faithless vain man) to arm you. In fact, NEVER accept the concept that you must use the weapons of another. The weapon(s) that God selects will be JUST for YOU. There are many preachers and teachers and ministries who diligently WORK HARD at copying the work of others. God is individualistic. God appreciates and uses the loner, the different, the rejected, the one who hears the distant drum calls of God. God uses the dyslexic to write, God uses the deaf to speak, God uses the blind to lead others, God uses the physically weak to strengthen the spiritually weak. The weapon of God’s choice for you will neither be understood nor appreciated or accepted by many. Do not falter in learning to wield God’s weapon for ALL bundles of JOY are needed in the great conflict for the souls of mankind. What many consider as ‘little ministries’ are often the most difficult and challenging of all ministries. It is NOT the visible SIZE of a spiritual gift or ministry or weapon that is the most spiritually successful. Spiritual success is solely based on the FREEDOM that the Holy Spirit of God has IN and THROUGH HIS ministry weapon. DO NOT PLACE LIMITS ON THE FREEDOM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD . . . how He should act and where He will act. The world Church teaches that in order to serve one must have their permission. The world Church teaches that it is ONLY THROUGH their organization and through begging for money can a bundle of JOY serve. That is placing Saul’s coat of mail onto the bundle of joy.
David refused to put on Saul’s coat of mail. David rejected Saul’s sword but chose instead to use what God had trained him to wield comfortably and with assurance, a simple slingshot.
● And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. (1st Samuel 17:38)
And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. (1st Samuel 17:39)
And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine. (1st Samuel 17:40)
● Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. (1st Samuel 17:45)
There is a well-known hymn titled, ‘Little is Much When God Is In It’ by K. L. Suffield. This hymn praises the SOVEREIGNTY of God. Throughout ALL of Scripture, the Holy Spirit of God has emphasized the GREATNESS of GOD through His use of those who have little strength. From the ONE and ONLY man of FAITH in the world BEFORE the flood, Noah, to the ONLY and ONE man of FAITH in the world AFTER the flood, Abram; the men and women used by God were much more than lessons in FAITH, they were used by God to reveal the POWER and SOVEREIGNTY of God. The names of Joshua, Gideon, Samson, and Jael are memorialized forever, yet there are names NOT known BUT known by God who through their weapons of FAITH are also forever memorialized in the Book of Life.
We have been following the word COAT in Scripture. The last mention of the coat of mail ends this article but it does NOT end this series. The word COAT is found three more times in the Old Testament through the following verses.
● And it came to pass, that [when] David was come to the top [of the mount], where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head: (2nd Samuel 15:32)
● By the great force [of my disease] is my garment changed: it bindeth me about as the collar of my coat. (Job 30:18)
● I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them? (Song of Songs 5:3)
I am always relieved when ending an article, but I also become curious where God will lead. Thank you for following along in this series. God bless!
