A GARDEN EASTWARD IN EDEN
And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. (Genesis 2:8)

There is no end to the magnificence of God’s written word. Those who do not follow the King James Bible miss out on not being able to see the greatness of the Author through The Law of First Mention. We are just going to briefly follow the word east or eastward in Scripture. In the second Chapter and in the eighth verse there is the first mention of the word eastward. WHY? What is so important about God specifically planting a garden EASTWARD in this garden? Why not north or west or south? East is where the sun rises, east is where the Sun of righteousness will arise with healing in his wings. East is where the tribe of Judah was stationed around the Tabernacle in the wilderness. And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of Amminadab [shall be] captain of the children of Judah. (Numbers 2:3) But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, [even] before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, [shall be] Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death. (Numbers 3:38) When ye blow an alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall go forward. (Numbers 10:5) At the sound of the trumpet this eastward tribe advanced first before all the other tribes, and at the sound of the trumpets of war, they entered into battle first. The Lord Jesus Christ came from the tribe of Judah. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. (Revelation 22:16) And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. (Revelation 5:5) As the sun rises in the east and gives light to the world, so also the Sun of righteousness will arise with healing in His wings. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. (Malachi 4:2) In Isaiah 41:2 speaks of a righteous man FROM THE EAST to rule over kings, and further in this 41st Chapter it is the Holy One of Israel speaking. Of course, this righteous man is no other than the Lord Jesus Christ. Who raised up the righteous [man] from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made [him] rule over kings? he gave [them] as the dust to his sword, [and] as driven stubble to his bow. The following verses were specifically selected to draw readers to see the connection with the EAST and the glory of God, and the glory of God of Israel came from the way of the east, and the gate of the outward sanctuary of the millennial Temple faced the east. This EAST GATE belonged to the LORD and to Him alone.

And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city. (Ezekiel 11:23)
And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory. (Ezekiel 43:2)
And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east. (Ezekiel 43:4)
Then he brought me back the way of the gate of the outward sanctuary which looketh toward the east; and it was shut. (Ezekiel 44:1)
Then said the LORD unto me; This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter in by it; because the LORD, the God of Israel, hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut. (Ezekiel 44:2)

From the very beginning within God’s wondrous plan of sacrifice, redemption, forgiveness and everlasting life, the east played, and continues to play, a crucial role in the planting and placement of His garden. And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden. There is the garden of Eden, the garden of prayer (John 17), the garden of Gethsemane, and the garden of the tomb of death which also became the garden of resurrection and life. Yes, the LORD God planted a garden eastward in delight which became His house of pleasure and plain (PURE). The Lord speaks plainly and with purity. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. (Proverbs 8:8) They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge. (Proverbs 8:9)
Now let us venture from eastward, the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden to the phrase a garden. The beauty within the word of God is boundless. The spiritual lessons within the word of God are measureless. As the Living Word of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, is boundless and measureless so He and His written word is also Infinite.
